Introducing Rouge and Lemongrass!

Catherine CP Designs, CPD Ink

We have four new Spa Ink Colors coming to the shop on May 8!

Our Spa Ink Collection is made up of muted, sophisticated tones and were made to coordinate perfectly together. No more guessing on which colors go together! This is called, Color Made Easy, my friends!

Of course, we go in rainbow order. So first up…Rouge.

It’s the perfect red to add to our collection and works great with Rose Petals and Peppermint Scrub.

Slightly darker and more muted than it’s cousin, Rockin’ Red from the Party Collection, your selection of reds just got pipin’ hot!

The second in our new Urban Oasis Spa Collection, Lemongrass is a gorgeous spa yellow. It fits in wonderfully with Shea Butter, Sauna and Green Tea and is muted chartreuse perfection.

In the video I’ll also show how CP inks eliminates issue of ink transfer. If you’ve ever inked your stamp in a dark color or red, cleaned it, but the ink still comes off with a lighter shade and you just can’t get a true color…you’ll love our inks because that doesn’t happen! YAY!

I couldn’t believe it when I first got my hands on these inks…

What color do you think is next? See ya tomorrow with the next reveal!

Inky hugs, CP

5 Ways (or maybe more!) to use Ink Blended, Watercolor, Glimmer Paste Backgrounds

Catherine Uncategorized

This week we’ve been having all sorts of sparkly fun in the clubhouse because we just popped a bunch of new products in the shop with glitz, glimmer and glam! Find them here.

One of my favorite new products is the Moonstone Glimmer Paste by Nuvo. I’m super smitten with it…so here’s a video showing a bunch of different backgrounds made with it and how to finish those backgrounds into great hand stamped cards!

Glimmer Paste makes gorgeous backgrounds in so many different ways!

Apply Glimmer Paste to watercolor paper, let it dry, then ink blend with Picket Fence Blending Brushes or other blending tools that you may have.

The dried Glimmer Paste will resist the ink, but at first it will look colored. Simple rub a cloth over the project to remove the excess ink. For this background, I also spritzed a bit of water on the background to create more interest.

I added a sentiment from the You Did It stamp set embossed on white and a few tropical flowers from the Toucan Do It stamp set and that’s it!

For this card, I created a dark watercolor background. I added the Glimmer Paste to my Clear Acrylic Block, added in a couple drops of Grape Crush ink refill to color it and stenciled it on again using the Scattered Circles Stencil.

I let it dry, cut it down a bit and adhered it to my card base. A simple die cut sentiment works perfectly here!

I embellished this card a bit more with the Nested Labels dies and the cute coffee cup and sentiment from the Perfect Blend Stamp Set. The Mod Flowers stencil looks amazing with the watercolor background and Glimmer Paste!

These two cards were made with the same technique piece! I stenciled Glimmer Paste over watercolor cardstock, then watercolored the background once it was dry.

Layers and layers of texture here! I layered a circle die cut out over a Cover Plate Die, then layered that over the technique piece. I {HEART} this look, y’all!

The second card is fairly simple with a sentiment, a technique piece strip and two strips of white. Easy peasy!

The Split Chevron – well, whaddaya know!? Turn it around, line it up and stencil and you have a ribbon or streamer look! I squealed when I realized this! Don’t you love those moments?

I used the Direct to Paper technique to color my white cardstock and get perfectly matching Flirty Fuchsia cardstock. Then I die cut the Congrats and added it with the Perfect Vie Die Cut in Vellum.

So many different looks and ways to use stencils and Glimmer Paste! I hope you are inspired. If you’d like to grab any of these supplies, you can find them in the shop…links are below.

Thanks for hanging out today!

Before you go…we have new ink coming on May 8! Any guesses as to what the colors will be? Stay tuned, we’ll begin sharing on Sunday, April 28!

Black, White and a Pop of Color with Ink Blending and Die Cuts

Catherine CP Designs, CPD Ink, Ink Blending, Videos

Jen Carter was a guest on my YouTube Channel recently with this video which you guys loved! So I was inspired to do this card in black and white with a pop of color.

The hearts from the Doodle Hearts Stamp Set were stamped randomly on white cardstock for a great look that was begging for a pop of color!

The hearts from the Doodle Hearts Stamp Set were stamped randomly on white cardstock for a great look that was begging for a pop of color! A little ink blending over the negative of a word die cut, then the same word adhered over the in gives a really cool look.

The Bourbon Street Sequins have the perfect fuchsia color that coordinates with our Flirty Fuchsia ink, so it’s a WIN!

Hope you are inspired today to make a card with black, white and a pop of color! Thanks for visiting!

Watercolor Wash with Melissa

Catherine CP Designs, CPD Ink, Floral, Ink Blending, Stamp of Approval

Hi everyone! I’m so honored to be guest posting today on Catherine’s blog. I absolutely love the products  in the Naturally Inspired Stamp of Approval collection so I thought I would share a card I created using products from that collection along with a few of Catherine’s amazing inks.

inspire

I started by creating a watercolor wash background using Tiara, Tiki Torch, and Tutti Frutti inks. I added a few drops of each ink from the refill to a craft mat then added water to dilute it down a bit. To help add lots of depth and texture to the background, I slowly built up the color by adding the colors in several layers and drying the panel in between each layer using my heat tool. By the time I was done, I think I ended up doing about four or five layers of color.

inspire2

For the stamping, I used Midnight ink and images from the Wild Garden stamp set. To complete the focal panel, I added the inspire sentiment from the Birds of a Feather stamp set. I also used the script border image from Birds of a Feather and Tiara ink to create the background on my card base.

To assemble my card, I matted the watercolor panel on a piece of black cardstock. I adhered that to the card base and that completed my card. It took a little while to make this card due to all the ink layers, but I think the end result was totally worth it. I hope you like it!

Rose Garden Layered in Purple

Catherine CP Designs, CPD Ink, Fall, Gallery, Projects

Hello, Karen here from The Bald Dragonfly with an elegant card with a unique-for-me color combination. This card features the Rose Garden stamp set from the Kind of Batty release.

I started with a card base Smoke card base.  I stamped the Angled Squares Background Stamp on the card base with Stone Blue ink for some added interest. I did some multi-step stamping for the cute flowers and leaves, from Rose Garden.  these stamps are really easy to line up!

The purple flowers use the following ink colors: Sweet Sixteen, Pixie Dust, and Flirty Fuchsia. The centers are stamped with Tiki Torch ink and the leaves use Melon Ice, Green Tea and Eucalyptus.

I arranged the flowers and leaves around a die cut “Kind”, from the Three of a Kind Word Die. I used only the first layer of the three dies, and I think it looks awesome. The small word “so”, from the corresponding stamp set, was stamped in Stone Blue ink.

I finished the card with a series of dots from Rose Garden. I really enjoy this unique color combination.  I’m so happy that I stepped outside my comfort zone and tried it. I hope you’ll do the same.

I can’t wait to see how you might have been inspired!

Emboss Resist Doodle Background with Kelly

Catherine CP Designs, CPD Ink, Embossing, Encouragement, Floral, Ink Blending

Welcome, Friends!  It’s Kelly Martin and I’m thrilled to be guesting here on Catherine’s blog today. Couldn’t be more humbled and thrilled to be here and share my card using some products from the newest Zen Garden Release!

IMG_20180211_113134_796

This Doodle Background stamp is just divine, isn’t it?! And the first thing it yells to me is, “EMBOSS RESIST ME!!!”

So I was happy to oblige.

If you’d like to create a card like this one, then all you’ll have to do is cover the background stamp in versamark ink and stamp it on to CP Premium White cardstock. Then you’ll want to cover the panel in white embossing powder and heat set it.

After the panel is set, take your ink blending tool and your favorite Catherine Pooler ink (I chose Party Dress) and blend away! I wanted to create an ombre look, so I applied heavy ink at the top and then faded into white toward the bottom.

You’ll want to trim down the sides of your panel and then glue it on to your cut and scored 4.25 x 5.5 inch card base.

IMG_20180211_113327_385

I chose the “You” die from the release and cut several pieces of the same white cardstock and layered them up before gluing the stacked die cut sentiment on to the card. I then stamped the “make me smile” sentiment from the Love Grows stamp set on to a small sentiment strip and glued it on to the card to finish it off!

The beauty about this type of card is you can choose any of your CPD inks or word dies to create a fantastic card!

Thanks again for stopping by, and have a crafty day!

Hugs,
Kelly

5 Ways to Use Pineapple and Smiles Stamp Set (and a couple bonus ideas!

Catherine Coloring, CP Designs, CPD Ink, Die Cutting, Embossing, Ink Blending

Recently, I was hanging with some of my stamping friends (were you there?) on Facebook Live and pulled out the Pineapples and Smiles stamp set and had a blast. I stamped, embossed, ink blended, water spritzed and ended up with a funky tie-dyed looking pineapple! The tropics are calling, my friends!

I created cards using ink blending, embossing, coloring and watercolor… view the video to see how they were made!

Let’s take a closer look at these cards…

Sunset Blvd Embossing Powder and Melon Ice Embossing Glitter over Lime Rickey Ink.

This card was created by using Embossing Glitter and sponging ink over the top. Spritz water over the ink and let it sit and dry to create this cool tie dye effect.

This close up makes me swoon!

This pineapple was created by embossing with White embossing powder then coloring Tiara and Tiki Torch ink over the image. It was the perfect accent for this shaker card!

The last card was created with three different ink colors. Ink the stamp up, spritz with water and stamp. Let it dry and it gives this really cool watercolored look!

I hope you are inspired by these fabulous ways to use the Pineapple and Smiles Stamp Set! It’s more versatile than you may think!

Thanks for stopping by!

Using Dies as Masks with Justine

Catherine CP Designs, CPD Ink, Ink Blending, Masking

Hi Crafters,  Justine here and I’m excited to share a fun masking technique using some of the supplies from the Counting Blessings Stamp of Approval Collection.

Image1

I wanted to try out a new technique. I grabbed a piece of 4 x 5 1/4 masking paper and the scallop frame die from the Tags, Etc Dies. I used the long side of the die to cut two diagonals into the paper so that the middle piece measured about 1 1/2 inches. I attached the top and bottom to my card panel and left the middle off to the side for later

Image2

Using a blending tool, I blended Something Borrowed, Fiesta Blue and It’s a Boy inks in the middle of the card panel where the masking paper wasn’t covering. I stamped the Grateful stamp from the Autumn Blessings Stamp Set in Midnight Ink and then I took a few of the little images and stamped them around the sentiment in Versamark ink.

Image3

I moved the masks up about 1 cm at the top and 2 cm at the bottom. Then I added in the middle mask that I set off to the side earlier. I sponged in some Tiki Torch ink, removed the masks and added some small embellishments from the Tags, Etc. Dies.

You can give this technique a try with any border die in your collection to get different looks. I hope you enjoyed today’s card tip and tutorial! Be sure fellow me on Instagram @justinehovey to see more Catherine Pooler Designs!

Ways to use the Chevron Divide Cover Plate

Catherine Uncategorized

I love using Cover Plates and surprisingly, they can be used in many ways…here are a couple.

The Chevron Divide Cover Plate is great with a watercolored background, a solid color background, or it even can be used as a stencil! Top it off with a simple sentiment, stamped and die cut, or a die cut word sentiment.

The marbled embossing powder shown here on the Hello Die will be back in stock soon! It was VERY popular and I’m sure you can see why right here! LOOK at that Hello! So cool…

Thank you for visiting, I hope you are inspired! xox – CP
