Three Cards to Make for the Holidays Live Stream

Catherine Christmas, CP Designs, CPD Ink, Videos, Winter

Hello my friends! We've been doing Live Streams for quite some time now and I have to tell you…it's pretty much my favorite thing. I get to play with some pretty nifty products, that I helped design…play with paper, ink and GLITTER…while chatting with all of you! It's pretty much a dream come true. If you hang out with us live, THANK YOU! If you view our videos after the fact, THANK YOU! If you haven't viewed our videos yet, I invite you to join us!

Head over to my YouTube Channel, click subscribe and hit that bell.

Three new embossing powders, word dies, snowman die cuts, background stamps, cover plates and border dies…we'll do it all in this video!

When stamping and die cutting images, I have been creating extra pieces lately. I find this really helpful to have on hand! Then, I can get to the business of creating technique pieces and backgrounds…then all I need to do is grab a sentiment and some images to finish off my cards.

In this video, I shared heat embossing (with some new powders that are in the shop – they sold out already, but no worries! They are on reorder and should be in soon!) on sentiment dies which is another favorite technique of mine.

Over the weekend, I was creating (while watching My Crazy X-Girlfriend…anyone else watch it? It is a bit…well…crazy…!!!) and I stamped and die cut a bunch of the flowers and foliage from the Boughs and Berries stamp set. They were perfect to go with the White Puff Twinkle Embossed Happy and the Geometric Flakes Coverplate.

I finally got to heat emboss the Polar Edge Die – with glitter, of course- and it looks GORGEOUS! I finished off that card with some of those super cute snowmen from the Build-a-Snowman Stamp Set (which now has coordinating dies for the snowman body and arms!!).

Finally, the ink blended It's a Boy with the Shining Star Background embossed with Iced Silver Embossing Powder looks great with a simple Jolly, a Santa hat and an ornament hanging from the “J”.

I love how these cards turned out, do you have a favorite?

Thank you for visiting today!

If you haven't checked out our growing collection of sequin mixes, I hope you will!  Use a few sequins on a project to add a bit of sparkle and shine, or add a whole bunch for a fun shaker card.

The Charleston Sequin Mix was created to coordinate with our Sum-Sum-Summertime Patterned Paper Pack. Fabulous, right?

Inking Techniques with Sangria

Catherine CP Designs, CPD Ink, Ink Blending, Watercolor

You know at CP Designs we love celebrating, so lucky us that every 6 weeks we have new product releases which is the best reason to throw a party!

At the end of October, with our newly released ink and 10 years on YouTube celebration, we partied big!  It was the perfect excuse for a taco bar fiesta in the office in honor of our new ink, Sangria.

With our newly released ink and 10 years on YouTube celebration on October 30, we partied big! In honor of our new ink, Sangria, we figured it was the perfect excuse for a Taco Bar Fiesta in the office. We took a break from release festivities, I poured everyone a tasty glass of Sangria and had a fabulous lunch.

Speaking of Sangria…let's talk about the Sangria everyone wants for their stamping projects.  I gathered some of the Creative Team's projects from the Retro Winter Release that featured this gorgeous ink color.  These fabulous projects use Sangria in different ways and will hopefully bring some fun and inspiration to your inbox today!

CP Inks are water based so they are fantastic for watercolored backgrounds.  You can get many shades of Sangria (or any of our ink colors!) depending on how much water you add.

Looking for a more concentrated, darker color?  Use an ink refill, squeeze out a drop or two on an acrylic block or craft mat and use that as your coloring palette.

CP Inks do not dry immediately when hitting the paper, they take a few seconds to dry…because of this, ink blending is a dream!  Flick on some water for fun water splotches and add some snowflakes and a sentiment for a striking look.

Our inks work beautifully for those ever popular multi-stamp stamp sets! Here I used Faithful Flutterings with Rose Petals, then Sangria, then Queen for a Day.

You can achieve many shades of the same color when ink blending (this cup is ink blended!).  Add more ink to your ink blending tool and ink blend over the same section several times and fade off to achieve this look.

You can see this in action on these four cards.

GOLD Embossing over a Sangria ink blended and water splotched background? Incredible!

Snowflakes stamped in Hot Tub on an ombre ink blended Sangria background looks pretty incredible!

Ink blend, then die cut for a sentiment pop! Make this piece into a shaker card for more fun. In case you missed the Live Stream on Youtube where I made a shaker card with the Well Hey There Die, here it is!

One more ink blended background for you. I'm crazy for this card using all four of our new ink colors! Sangria, Hot Tub, Orange Peel and Pink Champagne.

One last look at it is stamped and die cut. This color is so deep and rich and will be a gorgeous addition to so many projects!

So grab your inks, your blending brushes, inks and go have some fun today!

The Howdy November Stamp Set is a favorite of mine because of all the little images to mix and match. I really enjoyed using this stamp set!

Here is a great weekly spread idea…stamp the images and icons down the margin of the pages. Then stamp or write in your dates and use a marker or a blender pen with ink to create dividing lines.

November Canvo Spread

This dreamy looking pumpkin patch spread by Club Canvo Ambassador, Allison Cope, is just stunning! She used some non-traditional colors to create some fun and masked the pumpkins when stamping to create a look as if some are behind others.

October's Club Sursee included our winter themed products with a unique sentiment set that can be stamped individually, or all together to create a gorgeous background like the card above. How cute is the final card, topped off with winter icons?

The Scroll Border Die can be used as a border, cut the card front with it, or emboss your cardstock with it as shown above!

These products were geared for winter cards, but can be used for the Holiday card making season as well! I love how Lisa Harrolle used the plaid from our Lumberjack Patterned Paper Pack, added white snow detail and a snow bank! So creative!

I love the ink blending on the trees and the truck on these cards by Ashlee McGregor.

More snow effects and an accent from our Peppermint Stick Background Stamp.

All past Club Sursee products are available in the shop for all Sursee Subscribers. Just log in and the special section of the shop will be available for you.

The November Club Sursee is absolutely divine! Sursee products are meant to be a surprise, but sometimes I can't help myself from sharing! if you are a subscriber and love the surprise element, STOP! Don't scroll any further and save the rest of this post for next week!

If you like a peek at what's coming, or you haven't subscribed yet, check out the video and the five cards I made using the stamps and dies for this month.

The butterflies in this gorgeous set have two steps. Stamp the solid stamp in one color, or multi. For the butterflies above, I inked the stamp, sprayed on a bit of water and stamped on watercolor paper. When it dries, it'll look like you watercolored it.

Add a bit of glitter if you'd like and black and white background to really make the butterflies pop!

I adore geometric stamp sets and the So Much Possibility Stamp Set is full of geometric options!

In the video I shared:

  • Make it look like you watercolored, when you didn't!
  • Great color combination mixing Party and Spa colors!
  • What to do when you forget to clean your stamp?

Interested in Club Sursee? Learn more here!

I hope you are inspired and enjoyed these projects!

With the brrr it's December Stamp Set, I created some fun monthly and weekly spreads. They were really easy to do with the stamp set and the Full Calendar Stencil.

These items were shipped to Club Canvo Subscribers last week and will be in the shop after November 18 along with our new Winter Canvo Bullet Journal Covers! WHO IS EXCITED to get a new cover!?

The covers are while supplies last and there is a limited number of them, so grab 'em while they're hot! (or cold, whichever the case may be!)

Canvo Ambassador, Allison Cope created this gorgeous front page for her December spreads using the fun trees and critters in this set. She used our four new Urban Oasis ink colors and I {heart} the look of it!

Nanette created this gorgeous month at a glance using the Full Calendar Stencil and decorated it with snowflakes. I LOVE how she used the icicle stamp at the top of the page here!

Kelly Martin used the icicles as well to create her weekly spread and decorated it with a few snowflakes, trees and the critters.

I can't wait to see how you'll use these products. Be sure to tag us on social media @canvobulletjournal and @catherinepooler.

Holiday Card with the Merry Mini Cover Plate

Catherine Christmas, CP Designs, Die Cutting, Patterned Paper, Videos

The Man with the Beard Stamp is a favorite of mine! The sentiments were hand lettered to fit in between the Santa hats and beards in place of a face and has such a fun and whimsical look.

I stamped and die cut a bunch of beards and hats to have on hand. Do you do that with images like this? It's convenient for a quick embellishment for your cards.

Creating this card was pretty easy. Die cut the Merry Label Die, choose your patterned paper layer, emboss the sentiment in white on black. Use the larger die that comes with the Merry Label Dies to create a frame. You could leave this white, color it with ink pads using the direct to paper technique or emboss it for some added sparkle and shine!

When I was creating this card, first I cut the merry out of patterned paper…but then when I chose the forest pattern background paper, I wasn't sure if the Skylight pattern was the best choice. I thought Rockin' Red was a great choice to tie in the hat, but honestly, I think Skylight looks great, too! What do you think? Leave me a note and let me know!

If you're looking for more inspiration, here is another video I made using the hats and beards in a shaker card.

Thanks for visiting today, I hope you have some time to get creative!

Introducing Winter Dies Bundle

Catherine Uncategorized

The Retro Winter Collection is now in the shop! The new inks, stamps, dies, etc…can be found in the NEW section here.

The Winter Dies bundle is the perfect addition to all three of our product bundles.

The Well Hey There die, the snowflake dies and border and the winter sentiments will polish off all your special holiday, winter, thank you and birthday cards for the coming months!

The Winter Dies Bundle Includes:

  • Polar Edge Die
  • Snowflake Trio Dies
  • Well Hey There Hexagon Die
  • Winter Words Dies

Purchase the dies as a bundle (at a discount!) or individually.

We had some fun on YouTube Live today creating some gorgeous watercolor backgrounds in different ways.

CP Inks blend well and are water reactive and create gorgeous backgrounds! I love ink blending on watercolor cardstock because of the texture and the “forgiveness”. If you don't get a smooth ink blend, simply spray your cardstock with water and the colors will run together and create gorgeous textured backgrounds.

Try adding a stencil to your background, spritzing on water and dabbing it up, or use a stencil with Glimmer or Glacier paste. Spritz a background stamp with water and press your cardstock onto it and create texture that way!

Which technique will you try first?

Introducing Snow Buddies Bundle

Catherine CPD Ink, Winter

Hello Snow Buddies bundle!! I'm absolutely crazy about this collection of products!

The Snow Buddies Bundle Includes:

  • Build a Snowman Stamp Set
  • Build a Snowman Accessory Dies
  • Happy Buddies Stamps & Dies
  • POP Art Stencil

The Build A Snowman stamp set includes all the cute images to dress up your snowmen, just like the ones in your front yard!

I made this fun melted snowman Snow Globe Shaker card in the Youtube Live below. Once you have all the pieces cut out, it's pretty easy to assemble.

You need two full circles cut out of acetate and cardstock (or pattern paper), as well as a die cut frame.

Adhere the frame to the acetate, then create a barrier of dimensional adhesive all the way around the frame. Add in your sequins and shaker bits, then adhere the full circle cardstock or pattern paper piece. Embellish and decorate as you wish!

This video shows three new product bundles hitting the shop on Wednesday, October 30.

The Happy Buddies Stamp Set was created to coordinate and those little critters can wear all the accessories from the Build A Snowman Set.  The sentiments will get you year-round as well.

The Pop Art Stencil will create fabulous backgrounds for these little critters!

The fun gradient polka dot background on the Happy Everything card was created using the Pop Art Stencil and Glacier Paste. What a gorgeous shimmery background!

The Thank You card has a bit of contrasting black and white striped paper along the sentiment strip. The background was ink blended with Sangria Ink, then images from the Frosted Blossoms Stamp Set were embossed in Gold Metallic Embossing Glitter

Early ordering is open for StampNation Members now! Simply log into the SHOP, click NEW and all the new goodies will be there for you. We also hope to see you at 3 pm Eastern on our YouTube Live Stream!

Introducing Frosted Thanks Bundle

Catherine CP Designs, CPD Ink, Geometric, Winter

Picture it…Wintertime in the 1940's and 50's.  “Ralphie” wrapped up in his snowsuit heading out to school.  A Frosty the Snowman tin lunchbox in tow. An aluminum Christmas tree in the front room. And the sounds of Bing Crosby playing over the radio.

Maybe it is a memory for you, or something out of your favorite winter time film, but the futuristic influences of the Atomic Age left a lasting impression in decor and architecture.

These are images that inspired our Retro Winter collection!  From the cute and classic Build a Snowman Stamp set to the geometric and funky Snow Blossoms- your customers will love creating with this collection.

The four new Urban Oasis Spa Inks, Pink Champagne, Orange Peel, Hot Tub and Sangria make the perfect color scheme for these retro designs and come together in the Feelin' Chilly Patterned Paper like a dream.

In this card, I used my Life Changing Blending Brushes to create an Urban Oasis rainbow. It's GORGEOUS! In rainbow order, the colors are: Pink Champagne, Rouge, Orange Peel, Lemongrass, Sage, Hot Tube, Queen for a Day, Sangria.

Recognize that “Well Hey There” Die? It's brand new and matches the wooden sign in my office! We thought it would be perfect for making really cute cards, too!

You'll find it available in our die bundle releasing on October 30. Stay tuned on Tuesday, October 29 at Noon on Facebook Live, we'll reveal the die bundle with all four sets of dies that coordinate perfectly with all of our product bundles!

The Frosted Thanks Bundle includes:

  • Frosted Blossoms Stamps & Dies
  • Retro Star Cover Plate Die
  • Shining Star Background Stamp
  • Jolly Thanks Stamp

See the products included on this Facebook Live Stream on Facebook, or below.

ahhhh…the Frosted Blossoms stamps in Sangria! Gorgeous!

The Frosted Blossoms set was created to give the feel of flowers crossed with snowflakes.  The result was a classic set with the feel of Spirograph designs.  You'll use this set over and over for all sorts of card making occasions.

You can't go wrong with geometric cover plates! They can be the perfect touch for a simple card or have fun with techniques like ink blending and paper piecing to create a more elaborate piece of art. The Retro Star Cover Plate has a fun, funky design and will be a classic!

The Retro Winter Collection hits the shop on October 30! Join us on Monday and Tuesday for the final product reveals!

Introducing Hot Tub

Catherine CPD Ink

Hello HOT TUB!  This icy blue color reminds me of being in a hot tub in the winter, then jumping in the ice cold pool…then back in the hot tub.  Have you ever tried that? It takes your breath away and your projects made with Hot Tub are going to be breathtaking!

This gorgeous light blue with grey undertones and a hint of green is going to be a much needed addition to the Spa Collection and Urban Oasis line!

Since our foam pads release ink so easily, simply swipe your ink pad across a white piece of cardstock to create your own, custom colored cardstock! You'll never run out of that one color you need and depending on how many times you swipe or how inky your pad is, you can achieve different shades of the same color.

Make sure you have your ink refills on hand (purchase in a bundle for a discount!) and you'll never have a dry pad.

On October 30, these fabulous four new colors hit the Catherine Pooler Designs shop and complete the Urban Oasis Collection of inks.

These inks are muted shades and will be great for creating vintage, sophisticated and masculine cards and projects. This video shows all the great ways these inks can be used – solid stamping, watercoloring, ink blending and direct to paper techniques.

All four new ink colors will be available in the shop on October 30 at 9 AM EST. Stay tuned, tomorrow begins our product reveals! We have stamps, dies and other great products hitting the shop as well.

See you at noon on Facebook Live!

Introducing Orange Peel

Catherine CPD Ink

This tangy soft orange reminds me of a mug full of warm citrus tea on chilly winter mornings.

Years ago, Randall surprised me with a trip to Asheville, NC.  We checked into a Bed and Breakfast and were greeted with a cup of Russian Tea. I'd never had it before, it was delicious and now that tea holds such fond memories for me.  And now I have an ink color to remind me!

Russian Tea is super easy to make, just mix together:

  • 2 cups instant orange drink mix
  • 1 cup instant unflavored tea
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 6 tablespoons sugar-sweetened lemonade mix
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves

Store in an airtight container and add 2 T mix to 1 C boiling water and serve.

EARLY ORDERING – be the first to get your hands on our new inks!!!

StampNation Members get to order the new inks and products early – on October 29th! Members can simply log into their shop account, click “NEW” and all the brand new products will magically appear in the shop for you at NOON Eastern!

Introducing Pink Champagne

Catherine CPD Ink

Say hello PINK CHAMPAGNE!  This gorgeous pink looks divine with the new color we revealed yesterday…Sangria!  I am crazy about a pink, glittery winter card, so this color is going to get a workout with our new Retro Winter release.

This muted rose pink is the perfect addition to our Spa red family.   It looks beautiful alongside the new Sangria and works great as a shade lighter than Rose Petal.

Our four new colors will be available in the shop on October 30.

Subscribe to our newsletter, download our “5 Cards You Can Make This Weekend” project guide and you'll be sure to not miss any of the fun!

Yesterday I celebrated 10 years since I uploaded my first video onto YouTube!

I blinked my eyes and instead of having 5, 7 and 10 year old kids, I have high schoolers and a college student. Instead of filming videos in my office/craft room at home, I now film them from our home office in Raleigh, NC where 7 other amazing people come to work every day.

Instead of using products from other companies (which I'm still a fan of!!), I use products that I helped design. What a DREAM!

Thank YOU for being here on this journey, none of it would be possible if it weren't for my subscribers and customers. I am eternally grateful for you.

Inky hugs, Catherine

Introducing Sangria!

Catherine CPD Ink

Are you ready for the new ink color reveals this week? Here's the first look at this stunner. Deep, rich, sophisticated and it's going to fit into our Spa Color Line perfectly!

Sangria is a gorgeous, deep wine color and is a must-have. We can't wait until it hits the shop on October 30!

Our foam ink pads release ink beautifully, inking your stamp with little effort. This results in gorgeous, solid stamped images. Ink blending and watercoloring are a dream, too.

If you haven't tried our inks yet, now is the perfect time!

StampNation Members, early ordering begins at Noon on October 29.

Join us tomorrow for the first look at our next color at 5 AM Eastern on Instagram!
