Unsinkable Product Release Blog Hop

Catherine CP Designs, CPD Ink, Ink Blending, Stenciling

It's time for our Unsinkable Release! We've been sneaking and playing and creating fun ocean and nautical themed cards all week long!

The best part is NOW because you all get to jump in the shop, choose your favorites and you'll be creating in no time. We can't wait to see your projects on social media! If you share, use #catherinepoolerdesigns so we can find you!

Yesterday was our pre-release party with StampNation Members and we stamped all day with them…here is a peek at one of my cards.

I began with an ink blended background, then we sprayed water over it and let it sit. Once it dried, I stamped the sea leaves and colored them in with a blender pen. I stamped a few fish, added a sentiment and adhered it to a card front. I love how this turned out!

This card was from the Youtube Live product reveal Live Stream! I stamped a few cards and shared all the products along with a bunch of fabulous projects for this release. You can view the replay below.

The next card was inspired by a card Jenny Colacicco made…she created a gorgeous ink blended and stenciled background with gold in it. So I set out to do the same thing! I stenciled All That Jazz and Green Tea over the Shell Parade Stencil using my Life Changing Blending Brushes and I'm wild about how this came out!

You can see how I made both these cards on the Live Stream.

I hope you are enjoying the products in the Unsinkable Product Release as much as we are! Everything is now available in the shop.

Purchase the entire collection – at a discount!!! Or, purchase the Under the Sea Bundle (yes, at a discount!!!):

National Ice Cream Day Blog Hop

Catherine Uncategorized

Pretty sure National Ice Cream Day is a GREAT reason to celebrate! And who better to celebrate with than Ellen Hutson!?

So we teamed up with some stamps and some pretty amazing designers and got stamping to celebrate this perfect summer treat!

The I Scream You Scream Stamp Set was perfect for the Little Lady, she was begging to be holding an ice cream cone!

I thought the feel of a coloring book would suit this pairing of products perfectly. I began with stamping some of the sweet treats on watercolor paper with WOW Embossing Ink, pouring on Clear Embossing Powder and heating. Next, I swiped some of my ink minis over the cardstock. The embossed images resisted the ink and stayed white. Love that technique!

I spritzed on a bit of water so the colors would bleed and blend and also created some water droplets.

I made a shaker frame with our Postage Stamp Dies, added a sentiment and the Little Lady in black and white and it was a wrap!

Every hop comes with prizes! We are giving away $25 to the EH shop and $25 to the Catherine Pooler shop! To enter for a chance to win, make sure to leave comments at each stop along the hop! Two random & lucky commenters will win! Comment before Sunday, July 28th at 11:59pm PST. Winners will be notified by email.

Visit the creators blogs, get inspired and leave some comments!

Stamping in the Clubhouse

Catherine CP Designs, CPD Ink, Die Cutting, Patterned Paper

Our ballerina friend, Anna, visited us in the Clubhouse this week! We were so excited, because since she learned about stamping last summer, her mom has sent me pictures and videos of Anna watching my Youtube videos.

Anna has dabbled a bit into stamping and knows the basics, so I took the chance to have some fun and teach her some techniques!

I wanted to teach her how to make a Shaker Card, which is pretty easy when you break it down!

Die cut a circle in a solid color (here I used white), die cut a clear acetate sheet the same size circle, then die cut a frame with the same size circle with the next smallest size circle cut out of the center, creating a frame.

Adhere the frame to the acetate and on the back side add thin dimensional tape. It's kinda like building a fence to keep your dogs in…you don't want any open spaces to let the sequins out!

Add sequins and the backing and BAM! You've got a shaker element!

I'm completely smitten with this gumball machine look with ice cream and popsicles inside!

View this Facebook Live. (please excuse the quality of the stream, we had some connection issues)

Then next technique was Clear Emboss Resist. We stamped the Doodle Garden Background stamp on white cardstock in Clear Embossing Powder, then blend ink over the top. The Embossed image will resist the ink and stay white! I LOVE this technique!

A simple doily die cut with the center cut out created a great back drop for the Hello die which we embossed with the Blue Confetti Trio Embossing Powder.

I love that my girls' friends are interested in paper crafting…they are the next generation!

Whimsical Blooms Two Clean and Simple Cards

Catherine CP Designs, CPD Ink, Encouragement

Hey friends! A couple weeks we released our Hello Sunshine Collection which includes the Whimsy Bundle. I adore all the products in this collection, but there is a little somethin' extra that I love about the Whimsy Bundle.

The patterned paper is beyond gorgeous, the flowers are so fun to stamp, the Fitted Frames Dies will be a staple in your craft room and the Flourish, the Phoenix Sequins will add a bright pop to your card projects and the Whimsy Stencil is a classic design that you'll reach for again and again.

View this bundle in the shop.

For this Collection of products, we put together a downloadable Project Guide for those that are on our newsletter list. If you haven't grabbed yours yet, lots of inspiration is waiting for you! Subscribe to get your guide here.

Check out how easy these are to make in the video tutorial and catch tips for die cutting and stamping the flower.

Stamped flowers on a white cardstock layer, a bit of patterned paper and some flower die cuts are all you need to make some pretty fun cards to brighten someone's day.

Whether you stamp the flowers directly on the card layer, or die cut and stamp, the whimsy flower is a colorful focal point for your card making projects!

Here are a few other projects made using these products to get your creative juice flowing!

Ink Blended Sunshine Word Die with Jen

Catherine CP Designs, CPD Ink, Ink Blending, Projects, Stenciling, Summer, Uncategorized

Hello friends! This is Jen with Jen's Ink Spot.  Today I'm sharing a card that I made with some of the new Hello Sunshine supplies.  I have just loved playing with this release and the Scattered Sunshine stamps were among my most favorite products from the release!

I started this card with the sunshine.  First, I took a piece of Premium White Cardstock, the Twisted Sunburst Stencil and Life Changing Brushes and blended Tiara ink onto the card base.

On a piece of cardstock that I die cut with the largest stitched Postage Stamps die, I stamped the center of the sun (using the largest half circle in the set) with Tiara ink from the Scatter Sunshine Stamp set.  I then turned my stamp around and stamped the second half of the sun to form a complete circle.

The sun rays were stamped next.  First the solid rays were stamped in Tiara and then I went back in with the dashed sun ray stamp and Sauna ink and stamped the rays in between the rays that had already been stamped.  This created a fuller sun image.

For the rainbow sunshine word I used Life Changing Brushes to swatch the colors on my cardstock.  I then die cut the Sunshine Word die from that swatch and adhered to the panel.

I love the little heart detail that is the dot for the “I” in sunshine!  It's so cute!  I adhered the entire panel to the Twisted Sunburst card front with foam tape.

Thank you so much for joining me today!

Love is in the Air Shaker Card with Susan Powell

Catherine Projects

Hi Everyone, my name is Susan and I have the pleasure of sharing a card with you today that features some products from the Love is in the Air Stamp of Approval Collection. This card uses the Love is in the Air stamp set with the coordinating die set,  the Bon Voyage stamp set as well as the Postage Stamp dies.

As soon as I saw the Love is in the Air stamp set, I knew that I wanted to make a shaker card.  This set reminds me of the time I was driving to the ocean and saw the sky filled with hot air balloons. It was magical!

To make my card, I started by softly sponging some clouds onto the background using a torn paper towel. To do this technique you simply lay a paper towel that you have torn along one edge onto the card panel and sponge lightly upwards along the torn edge, moving the paper towel as you go.

Next I stamped the balloons using Juniper Mist, Green Tea, Be Mine and Black Jack inks. The balloons in the background were done with second generation stamping to give the effect of them being off in the distance, then they were die cut using the coordinating dies.  The clouds were die cut from white card stock and the sentiment, from the Bon Voyage stamp set, was stamped with Juniper Mist ink.

To create the shaker component, I die cut the largest stitched edge die and the second largest postage stamp die from the Postage Stamp die set together to create a frame.  Then I added a piece of  plastic to the back of the frame and added two layers of craft foam around the edges of the frame.  I placed some sequins on the card with liquid glue and the rest I placed in the middle of the card panel.  I attached the frame to the panel with some strong two sided adhesive tape and then gave the card a shake to see all those sequins move around.

Shaker cards can be intimidating at first but I highly recommend you give it a try. They're a ton of fun to make and shake and they're not as hard as you might imagine.

I hope you enjoyed my card today, I had a blast making it.  Thanks so much Catherine for having me!

Best Wishes in Plaid with Jen Carter

Catherine CP Designs, CPD Ink, Masculine, Projects

Hello!  This is Jen Carter from Jen's Ink Spot and I am excited to be guesting on Catherine's blog today!

Jen Carter CP Plaid Best Feather Doily 600w
I love the Plaid Background stamp, it's an absolute classic with so many possibilities!  For the background of this card I stamped it with Sauna Ink and then on another piece of white cardstock I stamped it in Juniper Mist ink.  I trimmed down the Juniper Mist piece and layered it on top of the Sauna panel and then wrapped some vintage twine around the card panel.

I die cut the beautiful Small Doily Die from white cardstock and stamped the “wishes” sentiment in Juniper Mist ink using the Simply the Best Stamp Set.  The best was die cut with the Best Die from navy cardstock three times and layered on top of each other for dimension.

I inked a piece of White Cardstock by blending It's a Girl, Peppermint Scrub & Sauna inks together using a foam blender.  I then die cut the feather from it using the smallest Birds of a Feather die.  Next, I pressed the entire feather in VersaMark ink and then embossed it with Wanderlust Embossing powder.

Jen Carter CP Plaid Best Feather Doily Closeup 600w

I attached it with dimensional tape to the doily.  Last, I attached the entire doily to the card panel with dimensional tape and then cut off the edge that was hanging over the side of the card base.

Thank you for visiting today!

Why Does bullet journaling/Canvoing work?

Catherine Canvo Bullet Journaling

I've been bullet journaling for a year now and I've been thinking, in this day and age of all the digital ways to keep track of your life, why do people continue to keep journals and notebooks and paper calendars?

One…because it can look like THIS!

The process of writing things down also frees up space in your brain so you can think more clearly and concentrate better.

You can be more present in the moment because you're not constantly worrying that you're forgetting something or thinking about what is on your to-do list…and, oh!  by the way!  Where IS that to-do list, anyways?

Oh, yeah…it's right in my bullet journal!

Writing engages visual, kinesthetic and tactical senses which helps you remember better as well as sends signals to your brain what is important which makes you more likely to follow through.

Bullet journaling is also a life record.  It's a place to record memories, journal about what is important to you and reflect on activities.  It also helps you create a vision for the future.

And when you bullet journal with the Canvo method, you're also giving yourself a creative outlet. What's better than that?
