My Friend Elizabeth

Catherine Projects

Hello, Stamper Friends!

Today I wanted to share something different about stamping with you…sometimes it's not just about stamps, ink and paper.  It's about relationships and the people that have come into my life as a result of Stampin' Up.  I have met many, many women because of Stampin' Up that mean so much to me.

One of them is Elizabeth Purser.  I met Elizabeth almost 3 years ago…she was wearing a cute pink headband and was giggling and jumping up and down when I showed her what I do.  From that day, I have seen Elizabeth almost every single month, and sometimes more than once at my classes and workshops.  She is more than a customer to me, she is my friend.

She invited Randall and I to her wedding and we got her thank you note recently.  I asked her if I could share some of it.  She said:

“It was so nice to see your smiling faces as I came down the aisle!  The wedding wouldn't have been the same without my Stampin' buddy there!  I have been so spoiled by Stampin' Up because not only do I get to continue my obsession with paper crafts, but I also got an incredible friend as well.”

Thanks, Elizabeth!  We love you too!

Check out a few photos from her wedding…the first one was right after the ceremony when Randall, myself and our friend Erika (another awesome stampin' buddy!) were congratulating Elizabeth.  How happy!  The next 3 were darling photos I wanted to share with you as well…fabulous photographer, eh?

Twick or Tweet dresses up Peeps!

Catherine Projects

Hello Stamper Friends!

This post is for my mom…she loves peeps.  You have to leave them out over night so they get a bit crispy…weird if you ask me, hehe!  Lucky for her, now they come in all sorts of shapes and colors for all the holidays!  Heaven for my mom.

Her birthday is in Oct., so we sent her a little goodie pack with homemade cards from me and the girls and a fun pack of peeps all dressed up for Halloween.

This was really easy to do.  I just wrapped it with a couple different patterns from the Designer Series Cast a Spell paper (115677), embellished it with Silver Cord (109866- 25 yards for $4.95!) and a stamped tag.  I used the ghosts from Twick or Tweet (116497) and stamped them on the Night and Day specialty paper (116768).

I love dressing up a simple gift to make it extra special.

While you're here, sign up for my newsletter and you will get a few special emails each month with extra samples and more!

Build-A-Bear Birthday party 50s style!

Catherine Projects

Hello Stamper Friends!  Well, the sleepover birthday party last night was a success!  The kids had a great time, were very well behaved, and were asleep by 11 pm!

I feel like the Kool-Aid mom sometimes…because I'm a Stampin' Up demo, I can do amazing crafts because I have so many craft supplies.  All those craft supplies are a business expense (LOVE that!) and we get to play and have fun with it all.

Since we were doing a 50s soda shop theme, we did record cake toppers.  I punched out black cardstock with my 1 3/4″ circle punch, then did punched out 1″ real red cardstock circle for the inside.  Then, I used my Crop-O-Dile to punch the center.  Anna used the Signo White Gel Pen to make markings on the records.  It was a real team effort and the kids had a ball helping me make these!

The girls were kept busy for about an hour making Build-A-Bears.  They punched out the bears, then clothes and dressed their bears.  Even daddy got in on the fun!

We then decorated cd tins, used the Crop-O-Dile again to punch holes through the metal (I heard hubby exclaim, wow that cuts through like buttah!) and Viola!  The kids had a little purse to store their Build-A-Bears in!

I hope everyone has a terrific Sunday, and let me know if you need help creating projects for your child's birthday…or if you'd like me to bring my stuff and do the party for you!  I'm for hire 😉

If you would like to place an order, you can do it online here. Just click Shop Now and your order will be delivered to your door!

Little Boo

Catherine Projects

hey, Stamper Friends!

Here is a swap from Founder's…not sure who made this precious card.  I love how she punched out Boo, then layered 2 vanilla squares behind it!  I love the tone on tone.

  • 115558 Little Boo only $6.95!
  • 115616 Pumpkin Pie Striped Grosgrain ribbon
  • 115370 Teeny Tiny Wishes

I hope you are having a great weekend!  There is a lot of excitment in my house right now…in just a bit over an hour, we'll have ten 10 year olds here for a 50s themed birthday party.  We've got hamburgers, french fries and root beer floats waiting for the girls…and tomorrow I'll post photos of the cupcake toppers I made with the girls.  Way cute!

We are also going to make a bunch of Build a Bears and turn one of those cd tins into a monogrammed purse to hold them.  My 10 year old keeps asking me, “why are we doing Build-a-Bears at a 50s themed party!!???”  Uh, because Stampin' Up has the cutest Build-A-Bear dies

I'll post photos tomorrow!

I have some talented friends, don'tcha think!?

If you are thinking about becoming a demonstrator, for the discount, for the fun, for the friends, or to make a couple hundred dollars a month extra, now is a great time!  We have the special Digital + Starter Kit…you can't go wrong!  You can read more about being a demo here

If you live in the Raleigh-Durham area, our group can't be beat!  We get together every month to stamp, have fun and learn from each other.  Our next event is on November 19th.  Let me know if you would like to join us!

The most typical question I get asked is “where do you get your ideas?”  Well, I get them from my downline and from Stampin' Up.  SU has an awesome magazine and website for demonstrators.  With all that help, I make it look easy!

If you are long-distance and don't have a demonstrator, I have programs in place to support long distance downline.  Ask me about it!

    Have a wonderful Thursday!

    Christmas Card Crank…Don’t miss it!

    Catherine Projects

    Hello Stamper Friends!

I have been playing in my stamp room designing cards for my last session of Christmas Card Crank!  We will make 16 cards (4 designs, 4 of each) with matching envelopes for $25.

I had a creative mess going on when I did this one…lots of different shaped masks and different blues.  It took me a bit to get it just how I wanted it and this one was it!  So, come to my class, learn how to make this gorgeous card and take home 4 of them!  I used 115438 Serene Snowflakes and 116586 Many Merry Messages.

Register Here.  Sessions on Saturday, Oct. 24 at 2 pm, Monday, Oct. 26 at 9:45 am OR 7 pm.  Hope you'll join me!  (Did you know you can click on the bookmarks at the end of this post to share this with a friend via social networks such as E-mail, Facebook and Twitter?  If you share with a friend, e-mail me that you did and the 5th person to e-mail me will receive a goodie in the mail from me!)

And this card I absolutely LOVE!  We will be making something similar in the Crank…just a few less steps.  I am smitten for the vintage feel of this card.

Some of the supplies I used:

    • 115672 Many Merry Moments Deisgner Series Paper
    • Christmas Punch (level 2 hostess set)
    • 111343 Chunky Sprinkles glitter (on the leaves)
    • 112004 1 3/4″ Circle Punch
    • 112081 Scallop Square Punch
    • 109070 White Taffeta
    • 114511 Little Leaves Big Shot Die
    • 108342 Pewter Jumbo Eyelets

In my Cards and Projects class this month (first Sunday and Monday of every month…$15 purchase and your class is free!) we made this great card with the Medallion Stamp (115223).  The Medallion is the most popular set in the catalog!

We stamped in versamark, poured on Heat and Stick Powder, heated with the heat tool, then poured on glitter!  It was a huge hit!

We started with Red glitter (thanks to Jill Olson for the card idea), then went to blue, then pink.

And one last sample today…using the Dasher stamp set.  This is the second most popular set in the catalog!  I had a contest for my downline and the winners got the Dasher stamp, and cardstock cut for 10 people to make the following card (congrats to Jessie Benjamin, Miranda Taylor and Nerissa Behrmann for winning!).

    • 100730 Whisper White Cardstock
    • 116816 Dasher Stamp set
    • 116770 Christmas Cocoa Designer Series Paper
    • 100908 Chocolate Chip Ink Pad
    • 115608 Real Red Polka Dot Grosgrain
    • 102023 Dazzling Diamonds Glitter
    • 100425 2 Way Glue Pen

Your subtotal on this kit is only $51.30!  It will make 80 cards and they will come together in a snap!  Simply cut your cardstock in half, cut a strip of the Christmas Cocoa paper (2 x 4 1/4″), adhere, stamp Dasher, tie your ribbon and add a bit of glitter.  It's that simple!

If you would like to place an order, you can do it online here. Just click Shop Now and your order will be delivered to your door!

    Have a wonderful day everyone!

Big Shot, Shimmer Paint, Sticky Pages, oh, my!

    Catherine Die Cutting, Projects, Techniques

Today has been a strange day for me.  My oldest child is 10 years old.  10.  Wow.  I don't know how that happened.  I have found myself thinking about a decade ago, and looking towards a decade from now.  How much things have changed and how much they will change.  During my “sentimentality”, I got crafty for Anna and decided to do a tutorial for you.

First, I folded a 5 1/2 x 11″ piece of cardstock and put it on my115950 Scallop Square die.  I put the fold on the inside of the blade so it didn't cut on the fold.

I get asked frequently how I do my layers, and it's pretty easy!  Each layer is 1/4″ bigger than the one on top of it.  So my white cardstock layer that I was going to stamp on is 3 1/4.  I wanted Regal Rose behind it, so I cut the Regal Rose at 3 1/2.

    Viola!  Layers!

I am addicted to spray sparkles!  I filled a spray bottle with alcohol and added a few drops of 116854 Frost White Shimmer Paint.  Hold it about 10 inches from your cardstock and spray.  Oh, my SPARKLE!!!

Next, I wanted to add more sparkle.  I love, love our 114300 Sticky Pages.  They are on page 180 of the catalog and could very easily go unnoticed, unless you have a demonstrator that can show it to you and show you what to do with them!

I cut a small square and placed it on 113471 Build a Flower Die.  This is something I LOVE about my Big Shot.  It can cut through more than 50 materials.  oh, my!

Once you have your flower cut out, take the white backing off.  You will have a thin layer of sticky with an orange backing on it.

Lay the sticky side down and peel the orange backing off.

Sprinkle glitter on your sticky flower.  I love the Glitter Stacks for this and we have 3 to choose from:

    • 108796 Fine Cosmo (rose pink, orchid, light blue, celery, turquoise)
    • 114286 Fine Galaxy (silver, black, red, gold, champagne)
    • 114287 Fine Supernova (chocolate, olive, orange, pink, aqua)

I finished off the card with a greeting from 111664 On Your Birthday stamp set, 113144 Clear Rhinestone Brad, 114319 White Organza Ribbon and the wrapping paper rolled with the109688 Whimsy Wheel.

If you like this tutorial and want to share it with a friend, you can do so by clicking on one of the bookmarks below!  Just hover over and choose the way you want to share.  How cool is that!?

Ramblin’ Rose Triathlon and Animal Stories Founder’s Circle Swap

    Catherine Projects

What a way to begin a perfect fall morning…with a 250 swim, a 9 mile bike ride and a 2 mile run!  Here are my 2 Sister-in-laws and myself after completing the Ramblin' Rose Triathlon

I was very excited to improve my time from last year from 1 hour 12 mins. to 1 hour 1 minute!  And that was even with my bike chain falling off at one point!   It was a great race with over 600 women from 9 years old to 70.  If you live in the Raleigh-Durham Chapel Hill area, I encourage you to try it next year.  It's women only, everyone is so supportive and encouraging, and when you're done, you feel like a million bucks!  And they just announced there is going to be an additional race in May in Raleigh at the AE Finley YMCA.  I'm excited about that one because it's super close to home.

I've been asked to share my Founder's Circle Swap.  I HAD to make 125 of these puppies.  And if you know me, mass stamping is not my cup of tea…but I even had the woman next to me on the plane on the way to Utah, helping me assemble these.

Honestly, I didn't like this stamp set, Animal Stories, until I saw Wendy Randall had stamped them this way.  Once I saw that, I was sold!

    • 116716 Animal Stories Stamp Set
    • 100908 Chocolate Chip ink pad
    • 102277 Old Olive ink pad
    • 105213 So Saffron ink pad
    • 100908 Chocolate Chip cardstock
    • 100702 Old Olive cardstock
    • 105118 So Saffron cardstock
    • 115916 Finial Press Embossing folder
    • 114890 Matchbox Die (for tag)
    • 100730 Whisper White Cardstock

Downline Meeting and Big Shot O’ Christmas Tree

    Catherine Projects

We had our monthly get together today, we call it the SUpreme Soiree (our group is the SUpreme Stampers!). I love getting together with my downline for stamping and social time. It was a great event also, because we honored Jessie Benjamin for her Sr. Manager promotion and for placing #8 in the Rising Star category this year. Congrats to Jessie!

We had some amazing demonstrations…Susan showed us how to assemble the Big Shot Christmas Tree die and Salina showed us a waxed paper resist technique that was super cool.
I'll share more later, because I gotta go to bed…I'm doing the Ramblin' Rose Sprint Triathlon in the morning in Chapel Hill, NC. Wish me luck!
I will leave you with a few photos:

This tree is gorgeous!  Who would have thought Glorious Green, Crushed Curry and Melon Mambo for Chistmas?  I love it!
