birthday

Oooh, girls!  Here’s a Sneak Peek for you!  I had my Scrappers’ Express ladies here last night and I was giving them a little peeksie, too!  (BTW- You’ve gotta get on this Scrappers’ Express thing, it is a GET YOUR SCRAPPIN’ DONE and make some cards, too, deal…there are several Christmas Jingle kits still available and I’m taking registrations for January, details here).

This card is a front runner for one of the make and takes for my Open House on January 2nd and 3rd.  Leave me a comment and let me know what you think.

It uses 2 new stamp sets that are coming out in the Occasions Mini Catalog that is about to come out…

Well Scripted, a fabulous greeting set, and

Vintage Vogue, a great, well, Vintage set with a coordinating wheel, Very Vintage

oh, yeah…I almost forgot…Stampin’ Up’s new PINK SATIN RIBBON.  mmmmhmmm….

You’ll be seeing MORE of these great sets, for sure!

And now for the Holiday Extravaganzaa project!  I made this door hanger using my Scallop Square Big Shot die, Christmas Cocoa DSP, Corduroy Buttons (do you see the REAL RED Corduroy Button…it’s a mini catalog sneak peek!), and Chocolate Chip Striped Grosgrain Ribbon.  I also used some holiday rub-ons from last year to embellish.

This is my very first yo-yo.  Leave me a comment if you’d like to see this in a video!

Monogrammed Bag Tags serve more than one purpose…they embellish the gift bag perfectly AND then can be used later by the recipient.

A great gift idea, and a MINI CATALOG SNEAK PEEK of new Designer Series Paper that will be available on January 5!  You could use any designer paper, really, but I thought this was perfect for little girls and birthdays.

I used my trusty Big Shot, and if you find me on Facebook, I’ve got an exclusive special there for fans only!

Enjoy!

Hello Stampers!  I hope you had a great weekend and welcome to another day of the Holiday Gifts and Treats Smorgasboard!

Enjoy the video!

Merry Moments Designer Series Paper Diaper Fold Pouch Video Tutorial!- Holiday Treat!

Catherine 3D Projects, Christmas, Videos

smorgasboard2

diaperfold1

Hello Stamper Friends!

I’ve been making this Diaper Fold Pouch for years now.  It’s always a great project for a small treat and takes minimal supplies.  Really, you just need a bag of candy, some patterned paper and a brad, or you can gussy it up a bit more and add embellishments.

You can also make it different sizes.  The only thing to keep in mind is your paper needs to be SQUARE.  This one is a 6×6.  The great thing about a 6×6 is that you can get FOUR out of one sheet of Designer Series Paper…and that means you can get 48 out of a whole PACK of DSP!  For $10 – $12 you can’t beat it!

I made a quick video to show you how quick and easy it is.  See for yourself!

Supplies:

  • 116795 Sleigh Bells Ribbon 10 yards for $7.95
  • 116471 Sweet Season Stamp Set $18.95
  • 115672 Merry Moments Designer Series Paper $9.95
  • 103133 Read Red Ink Pad $5.95
  • 109043 Scallop Circle Punch $15.95
  • 116631 Paper Piercing Tool $3.95
  • 105826 Mat Pack $9.95
  • 109111 Circle Ice Rhinestone Brads $10.95 for 84 brads
  • 103104 Small Flat Cello Bags $3.95 for 50…yes, you heard that right!

Stampin’ Up Clear Mount Stamps Video and Mini Catalog Sneak Peek

Catherine Videos

foxymonkey1

I must confess…I got my Stampin’ Up Mini Catalog and Sale-A-Bration preorder the other day and thought to myself, “wow…that’s not nearly enough!”, so I placed another order.  It arrives on Monday!  Boy am I glad all this is a tax write off! 😉   And I figure with all the classes and workshops I already have scheduled for January, I need a lot of new stuff to show my customers, right?!

Here is your first Sneak Peek of things to come…Clear Mount Stamps!  Just to make sure, I don’t want you to get the wrong idea…not clear stamps, just clear mount blocks.  The stamps will still be our high-quality award winning rubber, you will now have the choice to get that rubbon on WOOD blocks, or on CLEAR blocks.  Actually, if you choose to use clear blocks, you purchase them and can order each size seperately (9 sizes) or order them in a bundle at a about a 10% discount.  These will be available on January 5, 2010.

2 things I love about the clear blocks so far:

  1. The stamp sets store SMALL, so there is more room on my shelves for more stamps!
  2. You can see through the clear block and get perfect placement of your stamped image!  Woohoo!

I’m sure I’ll be adding to this list, as I’ve only made 2 cards with the clear mount so far.  View my video and you can get excited, too!

**Note:  hubby pointed out that some of the stamps in this set were mounted already and I said the lion was the first one I mounted.  He thought he caught me in a lie, hehe!  I was borrowing Amy’s set and she had already broke in and mounted some.  So there!  I wasn’t lying!  ;)**

For this card, I used Certainly Celery, Regal Rose, Baroque Motifs, and the new Fox and Friends Stamp Set.  Leave me a comment and let me know what you think!

I’ll be back with more Holiday Gifts and Treats Smorgasboard ideas.  Have a great Saturday!

The Skinny on My Digital Studio

Catherine Projects

updates…Just wanted to make sure you all knew that Stampin’ Up has an update for My Digital Studio.

Open My Digital Studio.  Along the top you will see, File, Edit, Arrange….etc…the last one is Help.  Hover over Help and a drop down menu will show up.  The second option is “Check For Updates”.  This will connect you with SU and it will walk you through it if there are any updates available….which there is one now to fix the bleed area issue when printing a bound book.  You will want to do this every once in a while.

You still need to be careful when printing a calendar, though. Make sure there aren’t any photos, embellishments, etc, because it is possibly that 1/4″ of each side and 1/2″ from the top and bottom will be cut off when printing.

Also, make sure your background goes ALL THE WAY OFF into the bleed section or you will end up with a white border all the way around your project.

Hope you found that helpful!

Fabric Flower Brooches with the Flower Folds Die- Holiday Gift!

Catherine 3D Projects, Die Cutting, Videos

smorgasboard2

flowerbrooch1

Hello Stamper Friends!  How darling is this little purse…read on to find out all the details!

I papercraft and my mother sews.  I used to sew…then I discovered papercrafts, and me “not-so-sew” much now!  When my mom came to visit over Thanksgiving, our worlds collided!  She brought 2 bins of fabric with her, so we whipped out the Big Shot and we went nuts!

My oldest daughter, Anna, just turned 10 and she decided to make a quilt.  My mom helped her cut the squares out with the 115950 Stampin’ Up Scallop Square Die for the Big Shot.  Mom helped her do the math and learn the basics of sewing on the machine.  Within minutes she was on her own…she is so proud!

021

While she was sewing, I was using the 115970 Stampin’ Up Flower Folds Die to make flower brooches and pins.  Here’s my mess (actually, I cleaned up for this photo, it was MUCH worse than this!):

023

Ideas for the brooches:

  • put pins on the back of the brooches to dress up a sweater or blouse, or add to a jacket
  • put a barrette on the back, they look so cute in little girl’s hair!
  • hot glue or pin to a head band
  • tie a ribbon around a candle and attach the brooch
  • tie the brooch to a present and you have 2 gifts in one!

Here is a video showing you how to make them:

Tips for making the flower brooches:

  • hot glue is a lot easier than sewing the layers together
  • use the 2 or 3 smallest flowers on the die
  • cut through 8 layers of fabric at a time, I also found I got a better cut on the top layer when I put a piece of paper on the top cutting pad to add more thickness
  • I liked to have at least 3 of the same size and color flowers to work into my brooch
  • tulle layers look awesome!

My mom made these DARLING white purses for the girls to pin their flower brooches to.  We made a bunch of different ones for all occasions.

E-mail me with photos if you try some of your own!

  • 113439 Big Shot Die Cut Machine
  • 115950 Scallop Square Die
  • 115970 Flower Folds Die
  • 113478 Extended Cutting Pads to use with your Flower Folds Die

Wine Bottle Topper…Holiday Gift!

Catherine 3D Projects, Christmas, Projects

smorgasboard2

bottle1

A good bottle of wine always makes a good gift…but to make it great, why not add a little topper?  It took me just a couple of minutes to put these together.

I cut my Kraft cardstock to 2 3/4 x 12.  If you don’t have 12 x 12, you could always make them shorter and cut at 2 3/4 x 11.

I scored at 2 3/4 so the top that fits over the bottle is a square.  I used my 1 3/4″ Circle Punch to make the hole for the wine bottle to go through.

I used the Christmas Cocoa Designer Series Paper cut at 9 x 2 1/2 to embellish the front and because this paper is so gorgeous, I didn’t need much else!

bottle2

Supplies:

  • 116770 Christmas Cocoa Designer Series Paper
  • 109043 Scallop Circle Punch
  • 104401 1 3/4″ Circle Punch
  • 101227 1/16″ hole punch
  • 100908 Chocolate Chip Ink
  • 116471 Sweet Season Stamp Set
  • 107070 Kraft Cardstock
  • 115617 Chocolate Chip Striped Grosgrain
  • 115612 Soft Suede Polka Dot Ribbon
  • 104199 Linen Thread

And you might notice I used the Word Window punch…I made a booboo when I stamped the greeting.  No mistake, just an opportunity for creativity, right?

Wonder how long these bottles will stay pretty…..;)

I just love these little triangle boxes.  You can put some treats inside, or a small gift.

With a few measurements, you’ll be able to crank out a bunch of them for teacher gifts, hostesses, neighbors and friends.

Cut your 8 1/2 x 11 cardstock at 4 x 11.  Score the long way at 5 1/2.  I made a “tick mark” on the 4″ side at 2″, then scored from the 2″ mark to the 4″ mark along the 4 sides.

To see what I mean, watch the video!
