Beautiful Fall Backgrounds

Catherine General

Fall card making is perfect for adding texture and interested to backgrounds with a variety of techniques. There are endless ways to accomplish a variety of looks and we will be tackling a few in our upcoming StampNation Exclusive Class, Beautiful Fall Backgrounds!

Members are invited to join in for a Zoom-style class and create alongside with me and other crafty friends while we go step-by-step making these two cards. I'll be sharing some tips and tricks for getting certain results with our inks and other mediums.

The New Brown Inks are perfect for mixing and matching for subtile tonal backgrounds. The Blowing Leaves Background Stamp has a lot of visual movement which makes it a great choice for these techniques.

Why not try an easy technique today?

Mask the bottom half of your card and ink blend the top in your favorite rich CP ink color. Splatter with water and ta-da! This faux bleaching look gives this card a rustic and eye-catching feel.

Go a bit more advanced with a gel plate printing technique. Ink the plate with CP ink and a brayer. Ink your stamp with a different brown ink and then press your inked background stamp on the plate. Press your paper over the plate, rub well and then peel up to reveal your results! You never pull the exact same look twice!

A color wash is also a fun and easy way to add great texture to your background. Drop a few drops of your CP ink refill onto a clear acrylic block. Add a spritz of water and take a paint brush and brush some long, wide strokes of color across watercolor cardstock. This color stripe will become a great focal point for your card's images.
