Coloring Techniques for Stamping – Night in Flight Stamp Set

Catherine General

Do you ever look at line art stamp sets and think the only option is grabbing a handful of markers? Well, hold on to your hat, my friend, because there are a lot of fun things you can do with your line art stamps. Let's look at some Coloring Techniques for Stamping featuring the Night in Flight Stamp Set!

Coloring Over White Embossing

Start by Heat Embossing your image with White Embossing Powder. Once your image is embossed, there are several Coloring Techniques you can try! Ink blend right over the embossed image, or color it in with markers or a blender pen and ink pads. I colored these with a Blender Pen and Ink Pads! The embossed area will resist the ink, which makes it really easy to stay within the lines and the white embossing leaves a beautiful soft result. Easy peasy!

I created both of these cards during our StampNation Exclusive Release Party. Members, view the replay here. Not a member? Learn more and join today!

Coloring Techniques for Stamping black and white

White on Black and Black on White

Go with a black and white image and skip the color! Emboss with black embossing powder (or use clear embossing powder over black ink (try our Midnight ink, but be quick! Stamp, then pour the embossing powder over the image right away – within seconds – and heat) on white stock and let the image provide contrast over a brightly colored background. Adversely, you can emboss white on a black cardstock and get a fun and eye-catching result!

Emboss in White on Vellum

Vellum is a champ for crating a very classy and soft effect. White emboss your image on vellum to create a subtile piece to add to your card. Again, this will allow you to create a very bold and colorful background and not have your card feeling “too busy”. What a lovely effect.

Color Over Black Stamped Images
