Creating Night Skies- Ink Techniques with Under the Stars

Catherine General

The Under the Stars Bundle features the Star Gazing Stamps and Dies with whimsical stars, moon and a constellations.

The ever popular night sky and galaxy background looks are perfect paired with the products in this bundle. Let's take a look at how CP inks shine in creating amazing technique backgrounds!

CP Inks are an ink blending dream come true. Start with light pressure to kiss your paper with ink.

Our inks are somewhat translucent and buildable so the more you blend, the darker and richer the color will appear. You can also use multiple shades of one color to create more depth and interest.

How beautiful is this emboss resist background?

How about that water reactivity?? This ink blending was done over watercolor cards stock and then water was sprayed or flicked over to get a faux bleaching look. Let large droplets sit a moment and then dab lightly with a paper towel to lift away the ink leaving outta-this-world texture!

Here's another watercolor paper technique but this time, the ink was applied with ink smooshing. Using a smooth surface (like a large acryllic block) you can smoosh inks onto the surface, spray with water, and then smoosh your paper to pick up the color. Dab around until you reach the desired effect!

Simple can be so effective! Use a brush and your ink refill to watercolor onto your cardstock. As you brush along your piece, the color will lighten or the more water you add the less concentration of color you will get. It's like the moon is lighting up the sky- beautiful!

Which technique do you want to try first??
