Creating Layers of Color with Ink Blending and Masking

Catherine General

Erika WOW'd me with the card on the right…she created it using Tranquil ink and Masking and Stenciling techniques with her Painted Leaves Dies. I loved the dreamy feel of the card and decided to do a CASE on my Instagram Reels. Ta-da! My Pink Champagne version was so much fun and we got a lot of feedback from you wanting to know more about the how-to of this technique.

I grabbed my Seafoam ink (guys, have you used Seafoam lately? YUM!!) and started to play around. I varied the layout and tried different leaf dies. The pattern overlay stamps were done in metallic embossing and Icing on the Cake for different looks.

How about this Lemongrass version?? Who knew you could get so much dimension with just one little ole ink color? Our CP inks are translucent so the color is buildable. The more you blend and layer, the deeper the color gets.

This one has Halo Embossing Glitter for added sparkle and, of course, a splattering of Gansai Tambi Starry Colors metallic watercolor paint. I used the White Gold paint from the palette on this one.

We went LIVE last week over on YouTube to give you guys the step-by-step technique in action and I created these two. What a gift set these cards would make!!

I worked with Serene and Sparkling Berry and just can't get enough of these. Such a simple yet satisfying technique and these cards would work for so many occasions.

We'll be over there again on Wednesday of this week (August 25) trying out another fun technique you won't want to miss. Hope you see you there!
