I'm always inspired to create birthday cards in January! After making holiday cards for months (- which I love!) it's refreshing to work on something new. Plus, it's StampNation's Birthday!
So yesterday, Erika and I got together at the craft desk to take on a birthday card color challenge! She pulled a palette of Samba, Melon Ice, Sweet Sixteen, and Grape Crush.
I have to admit, I was initially skeptical about the mix but our Party Collection Inks are made to mix-and-match so we went for it. The result? What do you think?
I love how bright and festive it is. Using the pom pom border stamp from the Punctuated Party Stamp Set, I mounted it on my acrylic block in a slight curve. Then went to town overlaping colorful layers of hanging garland!
With a little direct to paper technique, I turned the “hooray” die Grape Crush. I'm pretty obsessed with making my own colored card stock in this manner and it is so easy!
Since making one card wouldn't be as much of a party, we went in for a second! A quick one…two…three stamping the cake stamp from the Woohoo Stamp Set with the same ink color palette, and we were half way there.
I had this “happy birthday” sentiment already stamped and sitting on my craft desk. It is from the Layered Greetings Stamp Set, which was a part of last year's Club Sursee subscription.

Since I had stamped it with Pixie Dust, I thought it would coordinate perfectly.
We popped on the little candles in Midnight ink to bring in some contrast and that's two cards done in a jiffy!
