Peaceful Snowflakes with Ashlea Cornell

Hey there, everyone! It’s Ashlea and I’m thrilled to be guesting over on Catherine’s Youtube Channel today. I've created this colorful card using the Peaceful Flakes stamp set and coordinating dies.

I love the Merry & Bright sentiment included in the stamp set so I knew that I had the perfect opportunity to make a brightly colored card rather than using traditional blues. I decided to go with Royal Treatment, Fiesta Blue, Green Tea and Party Dress inks all by Catherine Pooler Designs.

To begin, I stamped my sentiment with Midnight ink on the lower right hand side of my card front. This allowed me to imagine where I wanted the snowflakes around the card front and ensured that I would leave enough space for the sentiment. I stamped all of the snowflakes using the colors listed above onto a couple pieces of white card stock. I then used the coordinating dies to cut them out. These dies are very intricate and cut the most beautiful shapes along the lines of the snowflake stamps.

I placed the snowflakes around my card front to see where I wanted them to rest. I adhered them with glue and foam tape to add lots of dimension and interest. I then trimmed all of the flakes edges that were hanging off of the card front, except for the largest flake in the top left hand corner. It still looked a tad empty to be so I decided to take those same ink colors and one of the polka dot stamps in the set and randomly stamp around to create a bit of a patterned paper effect.

Finally, I adhered it all to an A2 sized card base and I was done! I love how simple this card was to make but how the colors and the intricate cut of the dies really elevates the look.

Thank you for stopping by today! I hope you’ll check out my video and I’ll see you again very soon! Thank you!
