Y'all, I seriously don't know how they do it. The folks at Catherine Pooler Designs just keep cranking out the amazing products and it's like—do you people even sleep?! Catherine has an amazing group of people on her team but she is an incredible leader and I really can't think of any release so far that sums her up so perfectly.
Cause she is wild and wonderful, that's for sure!
Let's get to today's card!
Are you a re-inker skeptic? ‘Cause I totally was. And then I realized that they can be used like watercolors, and suddenly I had to have them all! You can create some stunning and vivid background with very simple techniques. I used some reinkers from the Life of the Party Ink Collection here.
Start by taping down a trimmed down panel of watercolor paper to a hard surface. Apply several drops of your chosen re-inkers to your paper and then pick up a water spritzing bottle.
Now we get to the magical part!
Spray the living daylights out of your card panel and then watch the colors mix and blend together. If you're like me, then you'll start laughing at yourself for being giddy about watching this happen! You'll want to let that panel dry before starting the next step.
Use your In Flight die to cut out the focal point on the watercolored panel and then talk some courage into yourself before attempting the rest of this shaker card process. Shaker cards can sometimes be intimidating, am I right? I'll share some tips with you that will hopefully make the process a little easier.
After the butterfly is cut out of the card panel, place the panel over a cut and scored 4.25 x 5.5 inch card base. Use a pencil and trace the open butterfly area on to the card base, using a light hand. That's how you'll know where to place your sequins and other embellishments.
After your pretty pieces are all in place, carefully erase your pencil lines. Adhere a piece of trimmed down acetate over the traced area that's now filled with sequins. Tip: You'll want to make your acetate piece slightly smaller than your colorful card panel that will be going on top.
Now take your colorful panel and mount foam tape on the back of it so that there is even, raised dimension. Adhere it over your card panel. lining up your panel so that the cut out butterfly is over the sequin area you just created.
When that's all finished, choose a sentiment and stamp it with Versamark ink and then heat emboss it with white embossing powder. I used the Note of Thanks stamp set, but you can use any sentiment that fits in the space!
Now step back and admire your work cause you just made a shaker card AND used reinkers on the same card!
