Non-traditional Christmas Color Combo with Lisa

Catherine Christmas, CP Designs, CPD Ink, Holiday, Stamp of Approval

Hi everyone, Lisa here!  I'm so happy to be invited back to Catherine's blog.   If you're like me you've been super busy working on your holiday cards.   I have around 50 to make and send each year so I start making them a couple months early.

What better place to start than with this year's festive Home for the Holidays Stamp of Approval Collection?   For today's card I decided to set aside the traditional Christmas colors.  Instead of Rockin' Red and Grass Skirt I dialed it up a notch with It's a Girl and Lime Rickey.  Now those are some bright fun colors!

Card front:
I started by embossing a 4 x 5 1/2″ card front using the Cozy Borders stamp set, clear Versamark ink and clear embossing powder. I lined up four of the borders on my MISTI stamping tool to create a background stamp. There are so many fun pattern combinations you can make with these borders. After embossing I did some ink blending over the top using It'a a Girl ink. The clear embossing resisted the color and revealed a bright white pattern. It looks like a cozy warm sweater doesn't it? Next, I used the large 2 1/8″ circle die from the Sugar Cookies add-on die set to cut a circle over to the lower right hand side of the embossed card front.

Card base:
Using the finished piece as a template, I temporarily positioned it on top of the 4 1/4 x 5 1/2″ side folded horizontal card base. I traced the circle lightly with a pencil to use as a guide for my sentiment placement. I then stamped the “Jingle all the Way” sentiment from the Festive Trimmings stamp set inside the circle using Black Jack ink. I erased the pencil marks and then adhered the embossed card front to the card base using dimensional tape.

Now for the fun part!! That circle was just begging for a wreath so I stamped each of the two pine branches from the Festive Trimmings stamp set five times. Then I heat embossed the jingle bell 5 times using Versamark ink and silver embossing powder. I diecut all of these small images with the Festive Trimming's coordinating add-on dies then adhered them around the circle with liquid glue.

That's my card for today. If you have any questions, please feel free to leave a comment. Thank you so much for stopping by. I hope to be back soon but until then, have fun with those holiday cards and happy stamping!
