Kind Tiles with Nanette

CatherineCP Designs, CPD Ink, Projects

Hello all! Nanette here. I’m so happy to be on Catherine Pooler’s blog today featuring a fun-to-make card that I created using products from the newest Kind of Wonderful Collection by Catherine Pooler Designs! I am also thrilled to announce that two of these sets were designed and illustrated by yours truly. How exciting! In today’s card, we will also be incorporating a set of dies from last month’s Tropically Yours Stamp of Approval Box. These will be a favorite for sure!

First let me explain that the Three of a Kind Die set consists of three dies. The small die can be used alone or it can die-cut the stamped KIND sentiment with no white space.

The medium die is a cookie-cutter die which allows a narrow margin around the stamp or it can be used as a secondary background to the stamp and/or small die.

The large die is a background die which beautifully sets off any arrangement of the above mentioned. So let’s get started.

To make this card, begin with a white cardstock panel cut to 3.75” x 5.” Then die-cut the two “open” Cabana Tile hexagons on gold foil cardstock a couple of times each. (If you don’t have gold foil cardstock, you can emboss and heat-set the gold). In order to get the shapes, I did not snip apart the inner tiles of the two hexagons. So if you have already snipped them apart, just re-arrange them back to the original arrangement and secure them with Purple Tape onto your cardstock before die-cutting. Now set the panel and the hex shapes aside. On a piece of white cardstock I created Coral Cabana card stock using the Direct-to-Paper technique, then cut from that a 4.25’ x 1.25” strip. I also cut a 4.5 x 1.5” strip of the gold. I centered and then glued the Coral strip onto the gold strip. Then I set it aside.

On black cardstock, stamp with embossing ink and heat-emboss with Aladdin Embossing Powder the KIND sentiment. Die-cut it with the small die. On white cardstock, die-cut using the large KIND die. Glue the embossed pieces onto the white piece. Now, so you can “eye” the arrangement of all these pieces, start assembling onto your white panel in this order: Center and glue the Coral/gold; Center and adhere your KIND ensemble with dimensional foam; stamp your additional sentiments with Midnight Ink in the arrangement you wish; arrange and glue your gold hex pieces. Just for fun, you can pop up the small center hexes with foam tape. Snip off any pieces you have hanging over the edge. For this card, I layered it onto a black-on-white card base.

There you go! Thanks for hanging out with us and have a great day!
