Tropical Ink Smooshing with Susan

Catherine CP Designs, CPD Ink, Gallery, Projects, Stamp of Approval, Tropical

Hi Everyone! Susan here and I’m thrilled to be visiting Catherine’s blog today with a card that I had so much fun making. I used products from the Tropically Yours Stamp of Approval collection. This is my favorite box so far!

I used what seems to be my favorite technique lately, Ink Smooshing. It’s so much fun because each time you do it the results are different.

I started with a piece of watercolor paper that I cut to 3 ½” x 4 ¾” and prepped it with an embossing buddy. I stamped a variety of leaf images from the Leave Me In Paradise stamp set (love that name) using versamark ink and then heat set them with white embossing powder.

I used Coral Cabana, Melon Ice, Aquatini and Flirty Fuchsia inks to do the ink smooshing technique. For this technique it’s best to start with the lighter color and work your way up to the darker ones. Start by smooshing some ink onto a craft mat and then give it a few sprays of water. Take the watercolor paper and start pouncing the paper into the ink puddle in a few spots around the paper. Heat set it with a heat tool and then repeat the process with the next color and so on until you’re happy with the look.

I love this sentiment from the Fearless Pursuit stamp set. I stamped it with midnight ink onto white cardstock and cut it to just the size of the sentiment. I sponged the edges with Coral Cabana ink.

I added the technique piece to the card base using craft foam and the sentiment was added to the technique piece using a thinner piece of craft foam.

A simple and fun card to make!

If you’ve never tried ‘Ink Smooshing’ before I hope you’re encouraged to give it a try.

Happy Stampin’

Susan
