This month we are highlighting StampNation member Sharon Salerno. Not only is Sharon supportive and creative but she gets to know members on a personal level too. Sharon is a true friend to many at StampNation. She's an important part of our community and very deserving of getting in the spotlight this month!
Tell us a little about yourself. What do you do for a living or when you aren't getting inky?
I married the love of my life in 1959 and we raised 3 children a daughter and 2 sons. I was lucky enough to be able to stay home until they were in high school. I worked part-time for an Optometrist for 5 years then I went to work at Social Services as an Income Maintenance Tech for 11 years and then became Supervisor for the unit. I retired December 31, 1999. In 1995 I also began teaching Scrapbooking as a Creative Memories Consultant.
How long have you been stamping? Do you have a story about how you started?
I began stamping in the Fall of 2012. I was taking care of my husband after he was diagnosed with dementia. Scrapbooking was too time consuming so stamping became something I could do to relieve stress and have something completed quickly. It soon became an obsession.
What is your stamping style?
I don't know that I have a particular style. I started out for a very long time CASING cards l liked and now I still see something I love and make it my own instead of copying I do sometimes still copy though.
How long have you been a SN member and what is your favorite thing about the community?
I have been a member for 3 years and it was one of the best things I have ever done. I have made so many new friends and everyone is so supportive and helpful not only in card making but when someone has a personal problem everyone rallys around and helps each member through whatever crisis they are going through. When my husband passed away I received so many cards from these wonderful members.
How do you get inspired when your mojo is lacking?
I spend a lot of time on Pinterest and sometimes copying a card I find helps get me back on track.
Thanks for sharing a bit about yourself Sharon and thank you for being a member!
