Blooming With Kindness Stampin' Up Birthday Card Making

If you are on Facebook with me, you saw a card very much like this there this morning.  My friend, Misty, was over last night and this girl is crafty!!!  But can you believe she hasn't done any PAPER crafts yet?  So I got that girl inky!  It was really fun to introduce a friend to stamping and when she was done, the giggling proved it was a smashing success!

A lot of people (including Misty) ask me how I get my ideas…so let me walk you through how this card came together.

First, I asked Misty what style she likes…vintage, cute and whimsical, elegant?  She is a girl after my own heart, because she said she pretty much likes it all.

Next, I asked her what colors she likes.  She told me that the other day, she bought a cute coral blazer, so how about starting with coral? PERFECT!  I thought, and I grabbed the Calypso Coral Ink Pad.

My next question was white or vanilla.  She chose vanilla…I decided to keep the card simple with just the flower from the Blooming With Kindness Stamp Set in the background and the greeting in Early Espresso stamped over the flower.

I knew I wanted a piece of DSP across the bottom…and now I am realizing my Faux Pas!  Do you see it???????  oh em geeee…this paper has WHITE polka dots on it and the card is VANILLA!  If she noticed, she didn't say so.  I get a little OCD about these sort of things, but evidently not OCD enough…sigh…

We adhered the DSP to the bottom of the card and I told Misty she could leave it as is, or she could embellish this baby UP!  We chose a Scallop Border in Early Espresso, finished off with Summer Starfruit Ribbon to match.  Misty chose some Cameo Coral Ribbon and that looked amazing, too!

Once we go to this point, of course, we could leave it as-is…but I could hear my Beautiful Butterflies Embosslit screaming “CHOOSE ME” from the drawer.  I decided to keep the butterfly subtle and chose Very Vanilla, covered in glitter and accented with a rhinestone.

I sometimes forget what it's like to be a new stamper, so I answered a lot of questions along the way.  If you are a new stamper, leave me a comment here letting me know what you are wondering about!  I'm considering doing some videos focused on the new stamper.

Thoughts?  I know many blog readers are long time stampers, but new stampers are born every day, right?

I hope you enjoyed today's card and blog post.  Please hop over to Facebook to see Misty's card and leave her some love.  It's her first one and I think it's terrific!
