Stampers’ Q&A: HELP! How do you use this thing?August 30th, 2010 Posted on August 30th, 2010, 2 responses.
The colors from last week’s Color Combo inspired me to make a rainbow card! Isn’t it super cute?? I used my Circle Scissors Plus to cut the rings. I wanted a greeting that would wrap around the rings. But of course, I don’t have one like that, so I broke out my black journaling marker and wrote it myself. It’s not the most amazing handwriting, but it’s mine and I think my honey will like it. What’s that? You don’t know how to use the Circle Scissors Plus? Yes, there is a bit of a learning curve to it. View the video, make sure your cardstock is secure using temporary adhesive and go slowly! You also might want to practice on scratch paper, old paper, computer paper, trash paper, whatever…just not good paper! You probably will mess some up, but you will get the hang of it, I promise! Then you’ll be super happy because you can cut circles from 1" - 6" in any increment!

Stampers’ Q&A: How Do You Apply Rhinestones to Your Card?August 23rd, 2010 Posted on August 23rd, 2010, 10 responses.Have you seen the new Basic Rhinestones and Pearls in the Stampin’ Up! Catalog? They are fabulous! Half back pearls and rhinestones with a mini glue dot…just peel and stick. Some of my customers have had a little trouble getting them off the sheet and they are so small, they can get a bit out of control in your fingers. The solution is easy as pie! Simply grab a pearl or rhinestone off the paper with the tip of your paper snips or with some tweazers! View the video to see what I mean! The first card here was inspired by a great sketch over at CPS. What a great way to use up scraps of Designer Series Paper, ribbon, cardstock, etc.! STAMPIN’ UP SUPPLIES:
Here’s another sample using the Rhinestones and Pocket Silouettes. The card was simple to make. I cut 1-1/4" squares, 4 of them, stamped my images from the Pocket Silhouettes Stamp set, then matted them with 1-1/2" squares of Pear Pizzazz. I attached them to my card with Dimensionals. Imagine the possibilities of this layout (from Mojo Monday, BTW)! You could stamp just about anything in those squares! STAMPIN’ UP SUPPLIES:

Welcome to this week’s Two For Tuesday feature! Each week I use one layout and make 2 cards with different supplies. The first card showcases the super trendy and fun pinwheel card! We saw these made at Convention this year, then one of my downline demonstrated this at our group event this month. I thought the Sweet and Sour Specialty Paper would be perfect for pinwheels! The fun, sassy patterns and the GLOSS on one side of each sheet…oh, my! I’m smitten with it! View the video to see how simple these are to make, you’ll be astounded! Q&A: What is the difference between Blender Pens and Aquapainters?August 16th, 2010 Posted on August 16th, 2010, 2 responses. Many people ask me what the difference is between Aquapainters and Blender Pens. Basically an Aquapainter is a paint brush and a Blender Pen is a clear marker and they are used for coloring line art images, or in the case in the above sample, coloring other things such as hills! Today I have some samples and a video showing you how to use the Aquapainters and Blender Pens I pulled out my Sunny Garden Designer Series Paper and thought the Daffodil Delight and Tangerine Tango colors would make fabulous fall trees, and I was right! ;) I used my Aquapainter dipped in Certainly Celery Ink to paint on the grass. I’m not terribly "artsy", so I was excited at how well it came out. STAMPIN’ UP SUPPLIES:
The next card features the It’s the Thought Stamp Set, Print Patterns In Color Designer Series Paper, Tea Party Background Stamp and Basic Pearls. It’s the Thought Stamp Set has a bunch of little stamps that work great with a blender pen. This card was a bit more work than I normally put into a card, but I love the result! This will have to go to someone special. The small areas of these stamps make your Blender Pens a perfect choice for coloring those little sweeties in.

Two For Tuesday: Party This Way, Fast and Fabulous and Afterthoughts Stamp SetsAugust 10th, 2010 Posted on August 10th, 2010, 2 responses.I’m not gonna lie to ya. I love the simplicity of this layout and I love how the first card came out. The second card…not so much. I like it…a little… Seems like it needs something else. What do you think? Let me know and in the meantime let’s talk about stamping. I used the brand new Basic Pearls on the first card, along with the Afterthoughts Stamp Set and Fast and Fabulous Stamp Set…and my new favorite thing to do…sponging! STAMPIN UP SUPPLIES:
The second card, even though I don’t love it, it’s got a really cool technique on there! The Peach Pizzazz peice was cut with the small tag punch. Watch the video to see how I did it!

Stampers’ Q&A: How Do I Get the Sponged Look On My Card?August 9th, 2010 Posted on August 9th, 2010, one response.Happy Monday Everyone! I get asked often how to get the sponged look on your cardstock and projects. It’s fairly simple once someone shows you! You will need Stampin’ Sponges (101610). They come in a big pack of 3 for $3.50. I cut them in quarters, then dip them in my ink pad and swipe across my project! I love a tone-on-tone look, but I also like the look of Early Espresso or Chocolate Chip sponged on the edges as well. You can view that in the video! This project was a feature at a recent class using the Pedaling Past Stamp Set and the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder.
I have been using the Pedaling Past Stamp set a TON lately, so I thought I’d show you the entire set. It’s darling and it’s only available through August 31! Click here to purchase your favorite Stampin’ Up products!
Elements of Style Stamp Set and Love Story Designer Series Paper Scrapbook PageAugust 2nd, 2010 Posted on August 2nd, 2010, 6 responses. When I saw the new Love Story Designer Series Paper, the Vintage Brads and the Crochet Trim, I ordered them right away. Usually this stuff sits around for a bit ’cause I’m not sure what to do with it. Not this time! As soon as the order arrived, I pulled out these goodies and got to work. I love the end result. This page remains true to my personal style of simple with a punch…dontcha think? The basic layout is one I use over and over…12 x 12 Cardstock with a couple strips of DSP. I added the flowers, the crochet trim and the tag from the Big Shot Two Tags Die (perfect journaling block) and I think it came out great! I did a little stamping with the Elements of Style Stamp Set on the background with Whisper White Craft Ink. (I also made my Convention swap card to match the page and I can’t find a copy of it right now! I’ll post it when I find it.) Wanna see the coordinating facing page for this layout? It will be featured in my August newsletter that goes out the first week of August. So don’t miss out and put your e-mail address in that little box on the top of the sidebar! There’s also a really cool exclusive tutorial for newsletter peeps. Can’t wait to show you! Not to mention how stinkin’ cute this kid is, right? This was right before her dance recital in June. We were "practicing" putting our hair in curlers. She just loved it, she’s so girly! And I’m so jealous of that hair. She’s got the best hair in the Pooler Household. STAMPIN’ UP SUPPLIES:
Here’s another card using the Love Story Designer Series Paper and I teamed it up with the Charming Stamp Set (116519). Looks fabulous together, doesn’t it?? Stampers’ Q&A: How Do I Clean My Stamps?July 29th, 2010 Posted on July 29th, 2010, 5 responses. This is a common questions from newer (and sometimes no-so-new) rubber stampers. Well, there are several ways to do this. You can use a damp cloth, an alcohol-free baby wipe to clean them, or you can lick them clean. Geez, I didn’t say those were GOOD ways, I just said they were ways. So what is the best way? You will need a Stampin’ Scrub and Stampin’ Mist. Spray the mist onto one side of your scrub pad. The mist will clean and condition your rubber…no one wants cracked rubber. That’s what my friend with 3 children 3 years apart says, anyways! Rub your rubber stamp on the wet side. The texture of the pad will get into all the nooks, crannies and crevices of your stamp and it will be all sparkly clean! Then, you’ll want to dry it on the dry side. Don’t forget, every once in a while, you’ll want to pop your pads out of the plastic case and wash that with soap and water, or throw it in the top rack of your dishwasher. I promise you clean, sparkly, conditioned rubber stamps that will last a long, long time. I know, I think I had too much coffee today. I’m out! STAMPIN’ UP SUPPLIES:

Two For Tuesday, I {Heart} Hearts Stamp Set, Elegant Soiree and the Dotted Scallop Border PunchJuly 20th, 2010 Posted on July 20th, 2010, 3 responses.Welcome to this week’s Two for Tuesday! My inspiration this week came straight from the Stampin’ Up Idea Book and Catalog…page 106. It’s a simple layout, very similar to last week’s actually! But this one uses the strip across the card, then various embellishments sprinkled across it. Instead of hearts and buttons or butterflies, why not try out flowers, snowflakes, or leaves? Stampin’ Tip: I like to give my buttons a finished look, but I don’t always want to use linen thread. If you take a super duper skinny piece of cardstock, you can thread it through your button and secure it on the other side with Mini Glue Dots. Nifty! STAMPIN’ UP SUPPLIES:
This card I’ll be swapping this year at the Stampin’ Up Convention (did I tell you I leave tonight? Check back for updates and photos!). Be sure to view the video to see how it comes together, how to use the new Dotted Scallop Border Punch and a little different twist on the greeting. STAMPIN’ UP SUPPLIES:

Q&A: How do I get a clear, crisp stamped image?July 15th, 2010 Posted on July 15th, 2010, no responses.I get asked quite often how to stamp a crisp, clean image. Do you see the difference between the image on the bottom and the 2 on the top? If you are taking the time to make something for someone, you want it to be polished looking, right? So let me tell ya how I did it… The very first thing you need to do is to make sure you are using a high quality cardstock to stamp on. Stampin’ Up’s Cardstock is made for rubber stamping. It is bright white and smooth and is the perfect base for your stamped images. Next, if your stamp has a big, bold image and is brand new, you might want to rub it on your pants to remove any film that may be there from the manufacturing plant. Once you’ve done this, you are ready to stamp. I use a tapping and twisting motion to ink the stamp. Be sure to look at the stamp to make sure it is completely inked and wet. You can also huff on the stamp if you want to before stamping. When you stamp it down on your cardstock, be sure to give good, firm pressure without rocking. If you follow all of these steps, you should have a clean, crisp image every time! Stampin’ Up Supplies:

Watercolor Trio Stamp Set with Shimmery Watercolor Crayons -videoJune 24th, 2010 Posted on June 24th, 2010, 2 responses.Hi Stampers! Today’s card started out as a simple card using Stampin’ Up’s Watercolor Crayons. When I was stamping the card for the second time, my stamp was a bit dry and I wasn’t getting the intense color I wanted. First, I “painted” the stamp with my aquapainter filled with water to wet the stamp. This enables your watercolor crayon to glide more easily and to get a better application of color. Then, I went back and added more water so it will re-moisten the crayon and stamp a good image. When I was filming the video, it wasn’t as wet as I wanted, so I grabbed my Shimmer Mist (recipe at the end of the post) and sprayed my stamp. I was pleasantly surprised to get a beautiful, shimmery image when I stamped it! Woohoo! View the video to see how this all came together. What would this be called? Shimmery Watercolor Crayons? I’m lovin’ it! Supplies:
To make the Shimmer Mist, fill a bottle with Rubbing Alcohol and add a few drops of Shimmer Paint to it. It’s not an exact science. Start with a couple drops, spray and see if it’s enough shimmer for you. Want more shimmer? Add more paint! Stampers’ Q&A: How Do You Make Colored Smooch Spritz?June 17th, 2010 Posted on June 17th, 2010, no responses.Hey, friends! Today I wanted to show you how to make your Smooch Spritz ANY color!! The top screws off of the darling little bottle that the Smooch comes in and Ta Da! Just add a couple drops of re-inker to it. Viola! Smooch in any color under the rainbow! See how easily it’s done by viewing my video: Smooch Spritz is available in the Summer Mini Catalog and I used Stampin’ Up’s Vanilla Smooch Spritz in this video.
Stampers’ Q&A: What do you do with Stampin’ Up’s Presto Patterns Specialty Paper?June 10th, 2010 Posted on June 10th, 2010, 5 responses.Have you seen Stampin’ Up’s Presto Patterns Specialty Paper? It’s basically white paper with a pattern on it, kind of like a clear embossed pattern. When you add color to it, the pattern resists the color and it stays white! How cool!!
I like to use my ink pads with a Sponge Dauber or a Stampin’ Sponge to apply the color.
When you apply the color, the pattern on the paper POPS!! Have fun with it! Add color from your ink pad, shimmer paint, smooch spritz, etc. And here is a sneak peek of something I’ll show you next week…Barbie Pink Smooch Spritz! No, Stampin’ Up doesn’t carry it, but I’ll show you how to make it! I used the Presto Patterns piece to adorn a tag for a wine bottle. Happy Birthday Vicki! Supplies:
