Sparkly Rock and Roll Peacock from the Very Thankful Stamp SetMarch 17th, 2010 Posted on March 17th, 2010, one response.Hello Stampers! I love how this card came out. I will be bringing this for a make and take to my downline event tomorrow, Taste of Stamping (although we’ll be doing it in blue with the markers and shimmer paint from this post). Have you thought about becoming a demonstrator? If you are in the Raleigh-Durham area, join me Thursday night to stamp and have fun with my local group, or join me for Stamps and Chocolate on March 29th to learn more. You can also read all the need-to-know info about becoming a demo here. The special on the starter kit ENDS on March 31. l started by inking the oh, so beautiful peacock in Sahara Sand Ink. Then, I rolled it in So Saffron, then in Melon Mambo. Next, I used the circle scissors plus to cut out my circles. View the video to see how this card came together (I also couldn’t resist spraying Shimmer Paint all over the card when I was done…not shown in the video. Add a couple drops of Shimmer Paint to a small spray bottle full of rubbing alchol to make your own Glimmer Mist!). Supplies:

Tart and Tangy Stamp Set with Scratch and Sniff Heat EmbossingMarch 9th, 2010 Posted on March 9th, 2010, 2 responses.
Hello Stamper Friends! Read all the way to the end to find out who won the blog candy. Keep your comments coming, I love them and it makes all the work of posting worth it when I read them! Today I want to share with you some fun samples made with the Tart and Tangy Stamp Set! It is on page 126 of Stampin’ Up’s main catalog and is $14.95…but if you place a $50 order before March 31, you can choose it as your free Sale-a-bration Stamp Set! (catalogs are in the sidebar for you to peruse…contact me if you need me to put a copy in your hot little hands!;). I have used this set for lots of fun things and it’s one that will sit on my “I’ll bring it to the grave” shelf once it retires. I used it this month for Cards and Projects (did you know you get a free class with me each month when you commit to spending $15 per month with me?), and if you are a member of the Online Cards and Projects club, you will recieve all the supplies to make this card in the mail! If you haven’t signed up yet, you have until Weds. night to register and place your first order. This was a popular color combination..fun with the blue, olive and red, dontcha think? We mixed 1 tsp. of Cherry Jello (you could also use Kool Aid) with Clear Embossing Powder, poured it on after inking the cherries with craft ink and heated it. Once it cools, you’ll actually need to scratch it to get that cherry smell going again. Supplies:

Card Scrapbook Page with With All My Heart Stamp SetMarch 1st, 2010 Posted on March 1st, 2010, 2 responses.Hey, Stamper Friends! What was supposed to be a day home working with all the kids in school through the afternoon, turned into a morning of doctor appointments! The kids went roller skating yesterday, and Anna (my 10 year old) fell and hurt her wrist. I told her if it still hurt this morning, I would take her to the doctor. Lo and behold, the kid broke her wrist! It’s called a Buckle Break and she’s got a gorgeous hot pink cast on! She will get it off just a couple weeks before we go on the Stampin’ Up cruise to the Southern Caribbean. Phew. And on top of that, I’ve got a cold, and I’m hoping it’s not the flu. Wowsas, when it rains, it pours! Between all of this, I was able to finish editing my video on Scrapbook Cards. Next time you’re making a quick card, I challenge you to incorporate some of the card elements into a scrapbook page! Let me know if you like this idea and I will post more. It was fun, and very quick to do. Here’s the video showing you how:
So you can see how to easily turn your 6×6 scrapbook page into a card. OR you can take your 6×6 scrapbook page and add it to a 12 x 12! Supplies:

Stampin’ Up’s Butterfly Accent with Heat Embossing!February 24th, 2010 Posted on February 24th, 2010, 5 responses.Happy Wednesday to you! Thanks for checking in to day to see my newest Iridescent Ice Heat Embossing video! This one is a bit different. I used the Stampin’ Up Butterfly Accent Stamp Set from the Mini Catalog to emboss a beautiful, glittery butterfly onto Shades of Spring Designer Series Paper. Then I cut it out, adhered it with some dimensionals over my row of circle punches. My favorite part of this card has to be the rhinestones for the body of the butterfly. Those came from the Eggcelent Eggs Kit from Stampin’ Up’s Mini Catatlog! I don’t think I’ll have any left for egg decorating at this rate!

Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder, meet I {Heart} Hearts Stamp SetFebruary 22nd, 2010 Posted on February 22nd, 2010, one response.Hello, Stampers! Today I have another video highlighting Stampin’ Up’s Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder. Even though Valentine’s Day is past, Stampin’ Up’s I {Heart} Hearts Stamp Set is still a fabulous stamp for many occasions. Who wouldn’t want an I love you card anytime during the year! And when you purchase this set through Feb. 28, Stampin’ Up will donate $2 to American Red Cross’ Haiti Relief and Development Fund. I used the Versamark Ink to stamp a few hearts on my white cardstock and those became subtle, glittery hearts….then I wanted to highlight one, so I inked my heart in Real Red Craft Ink and stamped. Craft Ink is a pigment ink and it’s thick and stays wet for a while. This enables you to pour on embossing powder and emboss your stamped image. This also makes it a bit messy to work with! Thus, my card looks different that I intended. Different, but just as good I think! I smudged the red ink in a few places, so I had the opportunity to be creative and see how I could cover up the smudges. View the video and see how!

Happy Stamping everyone and thanks for stopping by! Heat Embossing: Faux Diamonds Technique with Everything Nice Stamp SetFebruary 15th, 2010 Posted on February 15th, 2010, one response.Yippeee! I made another video! I had this card planned in my mind for more than a week, but when I hurt my back, it just stayed in my head. I was really excited to get to make it yesterday. (My back still hurts, but continues to improve and today I am getting a massage. woohooo!) It might be hard to tell from the photo, but the main image piece here was made with the Faux Diamonds Technique. First, I used my Stampin’ Write Markers to ink the stamp, then after I stamped it, I inked up my 1 3/4″ x 1 3/4″ square with the Versamark Ink. Then, I poured Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder over it, tapped it off and heated it. Heat Embossing Tips: The “toughest” part of embossing is being able to tell when it’s done. When I am embossing, I watch carefully for the powder to melt. The color of your ink, embossing powder or paper will change (usually get darker). When you think it’s done, hold it up to the light and move it around to get a good look at it. Make sure there are no spots of powder on your image. If the entire area is shiny and not powdery, you’re done! If you see any powder, zap it again with your heat tool.

How to Re-ink Your Ink PadsFebruary 12th, 2010 Posted on February 12th, 2010, no responses.Hey, friends! Happy Friday to you! I’m up and around a bit more today, but still not 100%. My back was still really sore this morning but seems to loosen up after a couple hours. I’m hoping to have this pinched nerve fully recovered soon. Thanks for all your well wishes! I filmed a 2 minute video for you today on How to re-ink your ink pads, and how to tell when they need it. I get this question quite often, so I wanted to show you!
Most of my customers order ink pads without refills…but what happens at 10:00 at night when you’re in the middle of a stamping project and your ink pad is dry? This would be called a STAMPING EMERGENCY! I recommend purchasing your Stampin’ Up! ink refill at the same time you purchase your Stampin’ Up! Ink Pad. And quite honestly, it’s probaby a good idea to purchase the full pack of cardstock (24 sheets for $5.50) at the same time as well. Then you are sure to have coordinating ink and cardstock! Well, why stop there! Let me know if you need help picking out coordinating ribbon as well. This would qualify as a STAMPING EMERGENCY: The owl on the right (from the Fox and Friends Stamp Set) is Perfect Plum, but waaay too light. Re-inker Tips:
Re-inkers are available in 4 Stampin’ UP! Exclusive Color Families for $28.95 each and come in a little handy dandy box great for storing:
You can also order your ink refills one-by-one for $2.95 each. You can see them all in my Online Store. Need ink pads, re-inkers, cardstock and ribbon in coordinating colors? Your best value is to join the Online Cards and Projects Club! (I am extending the deadline for February through tomorrow, Feb. 13 for joining this round. Goodie packs will ship on Monday, February 15.) Don’t forget, every $50 purchase, you get to pick out a free product from the Sale-a-bration brochure! Click here to shop! Stampin’ Up Punches and Border PunchesFebruary 9th, 2010 Posted on February 9th, 2010, 2 responses.Hi Everyone! I have to tell you…I’m down for the count today with a pinched nerve. I’ve been to the chiropractor twice in the past 24 hours and my orders are to rest. Holy cow. REST!? With 3 kids, a house and a business? I had no idea a pinched nerve could be this painful…..so I really have been forced to spend the day on the couch. I do have something to share with you though! One of my favorite friends from the Corporate Office (you know, I’d say that about almost everyone that works for SU. they are an amazing bunch), Bonnie Thurber, shares how to use the new border and corner punches from Stampin’ Up!
If you are planning on joining the Online Cards and Projects, tomorrow is the deadline for joining for February’s great projects. See one of the projects here and another here. If you are already a member, don’t forget to place your minimum $35 order by tomorrow and your goodie packs will be shipped out by Monday! Happy Stamping Everyone! |
