Q&A: What is the difference between Blender Pens and Aquapainters?August 16th, 2010 Posted on August 16th, 2010, 2 responses. Many people ask me what the difference is between Aquapainters and Blender Pens. Basically an Aquapainter is a paint brush and a Blender Pen is a clear marker and they are used for coloring line art images, or in the case in the above sample, coloring other things such as hills! Today I have some samples and a video showing you how to use the Aquapainters and Blender Pens I pulled out my Sunny Garden Designer Series Paper and thought the Daffodil Delight and Tangerine Tango colors would make fabulous fall trees, and I was right! I used my Aquapainter dipped in Certainly Celery Ink to paint on the grass. I’m not terribly "artsy", so I was excited at how well it came out. STAMPIN’ UP SUPPLIES:
The next card features the It’s the Thought Stamp Set, Print Patterns In Color Designer Series Paper, Tea Party Background Stamp and Basic Pearls. It’s the Thought Stamp Set has a bunch of little stamps that work great with a blender pen. This card was a bit more work than I normally put into a card, but I love the result! This will have to go to someone special. The small areas of these stamps make your Blender Pens a perfect choice for coloring those little sweeties in.

Two For Tuesday: Party This Way, Fast and Fabulous and Afterthoughts Stamp SetsAugust 10th, 2010 Posted on August 10th, 2010, 2 responses.I’m not gonna lie to ya. I love the simplicity of this layout and I love how the first card came out. The second card…not so much. I like it…a little… Seems like it needs something else. What do you think? Let me know and in the meantime let’s talk about stamping. I used the brand new Basic Pearls on the first card, along with the Afterthoughts Stamp Set and Fast and Fabulous Stamp Set…and my new favorite thing to do…sponging! STAMPIN UP SUPPLIES:
The second card, even though I don’t love it, it’s got a really cool technique on there! The Peach Pizzazz peice was cut with the small tag punch. Watch the video to see how I did it!

Stampers’ Q&A: How Do I Get the Sponged Look On My Card?August 9th, 2010 Posted on August 9th, 2010, one response.Happy Monday Everyone! I get asked often how to get the sponged look on your cardstock and projects. It’s fairly simple once someone shows you! You will need Stampin’ Sponges (101610). They come in a big pack of 3 for $3.50. I cut them in quarters, then dip them in my ink pad and swipe across my project! I love a tone-on-tone look, but I also like the look of Early Espresso or Chocolate Chip sponged on the edges as well. You can view that in the video! This project was a feature at a recent class using the Pedaling Past Stamp Set and the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder.
I have been using the Pedaling Past Stamp set a TON lately, so I thought I’d show you the entire set. It’s darling and it’s only available through August 31! Click here to purchase your favorite Stampin’ Up products!
Elements of Style Stamp Set and Love Story Designer Series Paper Scrapbook PageAugust 2nd, 2010 Posted on August 2nd, 2010, 7 responses. When I saw the new Love Story Designer Series Paper, the Vintage Brads and the Crochet Trim, I ordered them right away. Usually this stuff sits around for a bit ’cause I’m not sure what to do with it. Not this time! As soon as the order arrived, I pulled out these goodies and got to work. I love the end result. This page remains true to my personal style of simple with a punch…dontcha think? The basic layout is one I use over and over…12 x 12 Cardstock with a couple strips of DSP. I added the flowers, the crochet trim and the tag from the Big Shot Two Tags Die (perfect journaling block) and I think it came out great! I did a little stamping with the Elements of Style Stamp Set on the background with Whisper White Craft Ink. (I also made my Convention swap card to match the page and I can’t find a copy of it right now! I’ll post it when I find it.) Wanna see the coordinating facing page for this layout? It will be featured in my August newsletter that goes out the first week of August. So don’t miss out and put your e-mail address in that little box on the top of the sidebar! There’s also a really cool exclusive tutorial for newsletter peeps. Can’t wait to show you! Not to mention how stinkin’ cute this kid is, right? This was right before her dance recital in June. We were "practicing" putting our hair in curlers. She just loved it, she’s so girly! And I’m so jealous of that hair. She’s got the best hair in the Pooler Household. STAMPIN’ UP SUPPLIES:
Here’s another card using the Love Story Designer Series Paper and I teamed it up with the Charming Stamp Set (116519). Looks fabulous together, doesn’t it?? I’ve got one last sample to share with you using this color scheme and the vintage look…find me on facebook to see it! Click here to purchase your favorite Stampin’ Up products!
Watercolor Trio Stamp Set with Shimmery Watercolor Crayons -videoJune 24th, 2010 Posted on June 24th, 2010, 2 responses.Hi Stampers! Today’s card started out as a simple card using Stampin’ Up’s Watercolor Crayons. When I was stamping the card for the second time, my stamp was a bit dry and I wasn’t getting the intense color I wanted. First, I “painted” the stamp with my aquapainter filled with water to wet the stamp. This enables your watercolor crayon to glide more easily and to get a better application of color. Then, I went back and added more water so it will re-moisten the crayon and stamp a good image. When I was filming the video, it wasn’t as wet as I wanted, so I grabbed my Shimmer Mist (recipe at the end of the post) and sprayed my stamp. I was pleasantly surprised to get a beautiful, shimmery image when I stamped it! Woohoo! View the video to see how this all came together. What would this be called? Shimmery Watercolor Crayons? I’m lovin’ it! Supplies:
To make the Shimmer Mist, fill a bottle with Rubbing Alcohol and add a few drops of Shimmer Paint to it. It’s not an exact science. Start with a couple drops, spray and see if it’s enough shimmer for you. Want more shimmer? Add more paint! Stampers’ Q&A: How Do You Make Colored Smooch Spritz?June 17th, 2010 Posted on June 17th, 2010, no responses.Hey, friends! Today I wanted to show you how to make your Smooch Spritz ANY color!! The top screws off of the darling little bottle that the Smooch comes in and Ta Da! Just add a couple drops of re-inker to it. Viola! Smooch in any color under the rainbow! See how easily it’s done by viewing my video: Smooch Spritz is available in the Summer Mini Catalog and I used Stampin’ Up’s Vanilla Smooch Spritz in this video.
Stampers’ Q&A: What do you do with Stampin’ Up’s Presto Patterns Specialty Paper?June 10th, 2010 Posted on June 10th, 2010, 5 responses.Have you seen Stampin’ Up’s Presto Patterns Specialty Paper? It’s basically white paper with a pattern on it, kind of like a clear embossed pattern. When you add color to it, the pattern resists the color and it stays white! How cool!!
I like to use my ink pads with a Sponge Dauber or a Stampin’ Sponge to apply the color.
When you apply the color, the pattern on the paper POPS!! Have fun with it! Add color from your ink pad, shimmer paint, smooch spritz, etc. And here is a sneak peek of something I’ll show you next week…Barbie Pink Smooch Spritz! No, Stampin’ Up doesn’t carry it, but I’ll show you how to make it! I used the Presto Patterns piece to adorn a tag for a wine bottle. Happy Birthday Vicki! Supplies:

Stampers’ Q&A: Two Tone Background via Square Lattice Embossing FolderMay 28th, 2010 Posted on May 28th, 2010, 3 responses.Hi Stampers! For today’s Stampers’ Q&A, I have a fun technique for you. When I posted these cards, Ashley wanted to know: “May I ask how you got the two tone on the background using the lattice folder? It is very pretty. Thanks for the ideas, they are great.” It’s really rather simple and packs a punch, you all know I flip for that! All you need is a brayer, an ink pad and the Square Lattice Impressions Embossing Folder. Ink up your brayer. Roll your brayer across your embossing folder. I’m using Stampin’ Up’s Certainly Celery Ink. Run your Stampin’ Up Square Lattice Textured Impressions Embossing Folder through the Big Shot Machine. Oh, yeah, baby! How cool is this?

Stampers’ Q&A Your burning stamping questions…answered! How Do I Get Shading and Dark, Intense Color When Watercoloring? When I watercolor using Stampin’ Up Ink Pads and Blender Pens, I like to have my matching re-inkers on hand. When you squeeze the lid of the closed ink pad to get your color palette, sometimes the color isn’t quite as dark as you would like. That’s when I add a drop of the re-inker to my lid to get a puddle of intense color. Dip your Blender Pen into the puddle and color away! Caution: It is a bit harder to clean out the tip of your Blender Pen when you dip it straight into the puddle of re-inker. Just keep scribbling your tip on scratch paper until it is coloring clear. Don’t push down too hard, though, because you will wreck your Blender Pen tip.
I loooove how this card turned out! I hope you like it, too! I sponged the edges of all the cardstock layers with Soft Suede Ink, stamped the background with the Woodgrain Stamp, and sprayed a bit of Log Cabin Smooch Spritz on it. For the Build-a-brad, I stamped a piece of Kraft Cardstock with the Rosemary stamp from Herb Expressions stamp set, punched it out with the 1/2″ Circle Punch, adhered it to the brad, and placed the sticky “glass” piece on top. Build-a-brad video tutorial here. Supplies:

Stampin’ Up Smooch Spritz with the Tulipe Big Shot Die StencilMay 11th, 2010 Posted on May 11th, 2010, 2 responses. You might know that I am a big fan of the Vintage Style, but I don’t feel “good” at it. Quick and simple with a punch is usually my style…but I’m trying to branch out a bit for fun. I was perusing Shelli Gardner’s website (CEO and Co-founder of Stampin’ Up) and saw a card that inspired me, so I CASED it! I changed the colors and embellishments and used a different stencil and this is what I came up with. I hope you like it! It’s a great way to showcase the brand new Smooch Spritz (try saying that 5 times fast!) by Stampin’ Up, which comes in 4 colors: Gold Glow, Silver Foil, Vanilla Shimmer and Log Cabin. First, sponge Creamy Caramel and Ruby Red ink (both retiring June 30) on your Very Vanilla Cardstock. Then, lay your stencil (this one was made by die cutting a peice of Window Sheet with the Tulipe Die for the Big Shot). Give it a couple quick pumps of Smooch Spritz, remove your stencil and Oooh and Aaaah at your creation! I used the distressing tool from the Cutter Kit to distress the edges of the cardstock. The layered peices in the middle are labels cut from the Big Shot Matchbox Die, and it was stamped using the flourish-y stamp from the Friends 24-7 Stamp Set (ink in Creamy Caramel and stamp off once). Topped off with a P for Pooler from the Lovely Letters Stamp Set! Have you visited my Youtube Channel? I have almost 70 videos on there now to teach you all about Rubber Stamping!
