Wild Card Wednesday: Paris in the Spring with the Chic Boutique Stamp SetJanuary 5th, 2011 Posted on January 5th, 2011, 6 responses. As a Guest Designer over at Papercraftstar.com, my challenge today was to create a card showcasing my New Year’s Resolution. This year, I plan to dust off some of my older Stampin’ Up supplies and use them with my new goodies! We always want to purchase new stuff, right? But there are plenty of gems sitting on my shelves (and yours, right!?)! Let’s pull them out and see what we can do! For today’s card, I used the Chic Boutique Stamp Set and En Francais Stamp Set (both older) with new colors (Daffodil Delight and Marina Mist) and the brand-new Tulip Border Embossing Folder. I also had fun “dusting off” an old technique I haven’t used in a while as well…Clear Emboss Resist! To get this look:

Stampers’ Q&A: Heat EmbossingOctober 25th, 2010 Posted on October 25th, 2010, 15 responses.Today’s Stampers Q&A comes from my embossing video from last week. View that here. Sylvia asks to know, "Thank you for the video. Does the embossing work better with craft ink pads than the other ink pads?". Stampin’ Up’s exclusive colored ink pads come in 2 different formulations. Craft and Classic. Classic ink is a dye-based ink. It dries immediately and is easy to work with. The Craft Ink Pads are pigment inks. You can think Pigment:paint. They are both thick and wet. Pigment ink is wet when stamped and will take a while to dry. The benefit is a rich, dark color and when it is wet, you can pour on embossing powder and emboss your image. You can’t do that with Classic Inks because they dry right away and the embossing powder will not stick to it. The other type of ink that you can emboss with is a Versamark Pad. I hope that answers your question, Sylvia and don’t hesitate to ask me more questions!
Do you see the fancy, colored, glittered pearls? Stampin’ Up does not sell those, but I made them! I simply dabbed craft ink onto the pearls, covered them in Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder, then heated them with my heat tool! Pretty nifty!
Have a wonderful Saturday! My inspiration today came from 365 Cards, Pile it on, 2sketches4you, cuttlebugspot, incywincydesigns and the shabby tearoom.

My club order came in last night and I shrieked with delight because my new Music Notes Wheel was in there! Gosh, when I got my Papercrafts Magazine this month, sheet music was EVERYWHERE! I guess it’s all the rage right now and we want to be trendy papercrafters, right? I have Deck the Halls Designer Paper and Newsprint Designer Paper, which both have patterns with sheet music…but you only get 2 sheets in each pack and you know what happens to that…it’s GONE! So, I thought the wheel would come in handy and I can have any color sheet music any time I want! WOOT! You are going to see this wheel A LOT! I used it here for my background and wheeled it in Crumb Cake ink on Crumb Cake Cardstock (I just rolled the wheel on my ink pad). STAMPIN’ UP SUPPLIES:
I Heat Embossed the main image, it adds such a classy element to the card. View the video to see how quick and easy it is to heat emboss with Stampin’ Up’s Craft Ink Pads. My inspiration today came from 365 Cards (3 colors, DSP, embellies), CASE Study (bling and star), Cute Card Thursday (sketch), Charisma Cardz (vintage), and Delightful Sketches (Christmas). Got 10? 10 Minute Card with Elements of Style Stamp Set and the Masking TechniqueOctober 20th, 2010 Posted on October 20th, 2010, 14 responses.Welcome to this week’s Got 10 feature! We are all busy, but love to craft, right? So a card in 10 minutes or less is something that we can all fit into our lives. The first thing I did for this card is cut an oval from the Scallop Oval Big Shot Die to use as a mask. I sponged Pretty in Pink ink around it, then stamped Elements of Style Stamp Set on top of it before removing the mask. Next, I stamped Thank You right in the middle of the mask. For a 5 minute card, this is all you do! Adhere this to your card base and you are DONE! Imagine this in blue with snowflakes and you’ve got your quick, easily mass-produced Holiday Cards! If you want to "fancy up" your card a bit, add some ribbon and a Filigree Brad if you like. Here, I added a rhinestone brad in the middle of the Filigree Brad.

Stampers’ Q&A: How Do You Dye Ribbon and Every Moment Stamp Set CASE StudySeptember 9th, 2010 Posted on September 9th, 2010, 7 responses.
I’m so excited to be sponsoring the challenge this week over at CASE Study! It’s an inspiration challenge blog and I’ll be giving away a prize at the end of the week. Check it out! If you are visiting from CASE Study, welcome! Grab some ice tea and explore my site. I have tons of projects, tutorials and videos here. Be sure to sign up in a reader and subscribe to my newsletter. You’ll get a sign up gift, along with subscriber-only projects, tutorials and more! The inspiration piece for this challenge made me reach for Every Moment Stamp Set. This is a set from the catalog that I had been eyeing since it came out in July, I broke down a couple weeks ago and got it. It’s so fabulous for watercoloring! I used my ink pads with aquapainters. For the center of the flower, I started with a light color, Peach Parfait, then added a bit of Pumpkin Pie, then went even darker just at the top with Cajun Craze. A bit of Dazzling Diamonds Glitter finished it off. I added a little highlighting around the flower with a touch of Tempting Turquoise from my ink pad.
I love the punch that the Tempting Turquoise Grosgrain Ribbon gives…and NO! Stampin’ Up does not sell Tempting Turquoise Ribbon, so I had to make it myself. It’s quite easy! Fill a container with a bit of water, add a few drops of re-inker, drop in your ribbon, then swirl it around. Let the ribbon soak up the colored water, then take it out and let it dry on a paper towel. OR, just keep it in the container and let it dry out on it’s own! Easy peasy, see for yourself:

Stampers’ Q&A: HELP! How do you use this thing?August 30th, 2010 Posted on August 30th, 2010, 7 responses.
The colors from last week’s Color Combo inspired me to make a rainbow card! Isn’t it super cute?? I used my Circle Scissors Plus to cut the rings. I wanted a greeting that would wrap around the rings. But of course, I don’t have one like that, so I broke out my black journaling marker and wrote it myself. It’s not the most amazing handwriting, but it’s mine and I think my honey will like it. What’s that? You don’t know how to use the Circle Scissors Plus? Yes, there is a bit of a learning curve to it. View the video, make sure your cardstock is secure using temporary adhesive and go slowly! You also might want to practice on scratch paper, old paper, computer paper, trash paper, whatever…just not good paper! You probably will mess some up, but you will get the hang of it, I promise! Then you’ll be super happy because you can cut circles from 1" – 6" in any increment!

Two For Tuesday: Sweet and Sour Pinwheels and Love LettersAugust 17th, 2010 Posted on August 17th, 2010, 13 responses.
Welcome to this week’s Two For Tuesday feature! Each week I use one layout and make 2 cards with different supplies. The first card showcases the super trendy and fun pinwheel card! We saw these made at Convention this year, then one of my downline demonstrated this at our group event this month. I thought the Sweet and Sour Specialty Paper would be perfect for pinwheels! The fun, sassy patterns and the GLOSS on one side of each sheet…oh, my! I’m smitten with it! View the video to see how simple these are to make, you’ll be astounded! And if you like this video, you will LOVE the videos I feature for Club Inbox…a new kind of club!

E-mail me to get your copy! The second card uses the same layout, but gives a very different feel. The above is fun and whimsical. The thank you card is romantic and a bit of vintage. Q&A: What is the difference between Blender Pens and Aquapainters?August 16th, 2010 Posted on August 16th, 2010, 2 responses. Many people ask me what the difference is between Aquapainters and Blender Pens. Basically an Aquapainter is a paint brush and a Blender Pen is a clear marker and they are used for coloring line art images, or in the case in the above sample, coloring other things such as hills! Today I have some samples and a video showing you how to use the Aquapainters and Blender Pens I pulled out my Sunny Garden Designer Series Paper and thought the Daffodil Delight and Tangerine Tango colors would make fabulous fall trees, and I was right! I used my Aquapainter dipped in Certainly Celery Ink to paint on the grass. I’m not terribly "artsy", so I was excited at how well it came out. STAMPIN’ UP SUPPLIES:
The next card features the It’s the Thought Stamp Set, Print Patterns In Color Designer Series Paper, Tea Party Background Stamp and Basic Pearls. It’s the Thought Stamp Set has a bunch of little stamps that work great with a blender pen. This card was a bit more work than I normally put into a card, but I love the result! This will have to go to someone special. The small areas of these stamps make your Blender Pens a perfect choice for coloring those little sweeties in.

Two For Tuesday: Party This Way, Fast and Fabulous and Afterthoughts Stamp SetsAugust 10th, 2010 Posted on August 10th, 2010, 2 responses.I’m not gonna lie to ya. I love the simplicity of this layout and I love how the first card came out. The second card…not so much. I like it…a little… Seems like it needs something else. What do you think? Let me know and in the meantime let’s talk about stamping. I used the brand new Basic Pearls on the first card, along with the Afterthoughts Stamp Set and Fast and Fabulous Stamp Set…and my new favorite thing to do…sponging! STAMPIN UP SUPPLIES:
The second card, even though I don’t love it, it’s got a really cool technique on there! The Peach Pizzazz peice was cut with the small tag punch. Watch the video to see how I did it!

Stampers’ Q&A: How Do I Get the Sponged Look On My Card?August 9th, 2010 Posted on August 9th, 2010, one response.Happy Monday Everyone! I get asked often how to get the sponged look on your cardstock and projects. It’s fairly simple once someone shows you! You will need Stampin’ Sponges (101610). They come in a big pack of 3 for $3.50. I cut them in quarters, then dip them in my ink pad and swipe across my project! I love a tone-on-tone look, but I also like the look of Early Espresso or Chocolate Chip sponged on the edges as well. You can view that in the video! This project was a feature at a recent class using the Pedaling Past Stamp Set and the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder.
I have been using the Pedaling Past Stamp set a TON lately, so I thought I’d show you the entire set. It’s darling and it’s only available through August 31! Click here to purchase your favorite Stampin’ Up products!
Elements of Style Stamp Set and Love Story Designer Series Paper Scrapbook PageAugust 2nd, 2010 Posted on August 2nd, 2010, 7 responses. When I saw the new Love Story Designer Series Paper, the Vintage Brads and the Crochet Trim, I ordered them right away. Usually this stuff sits around for a bit ’cause I’m not sure what to do with it. Not this time! As soon as the order arrived, I pulled out these goodies and got to work. I love the end result. This page remains true to my personal style of simple with a punch…dontcha think? The basic layout is one I use over and over…12 x 12 Cardstock with a couple strips of DSP. I added the flowers, the crochet trim and the tag from the Big Shot Two Tags Die (perfect journaling block) and I think it came out great! I did a little stamping with the Elements of Style Stamp Set on the background with Whisper White Craft Ink. (I also made my Convention swap card to match the page and I can’t find a copy of it right now! I’ll post it when I find it.) Wanna see the coordinating facing page for this layout? It will be featured in my August newsletter that goes out the first week of August. So don’t miss out and put your e-mail address in that little box on the top of the sidebar! There’s also a really cool exclusive tutorial for newsletter peeps. Can’t wait to show you! Not to mention how stinkin’ cute this kid is, right? This was right before her dance recital in June. We were "practicing" putting our hair in curlers. She just loved it, she’s so girly! And I’m so jealous of that hair. She’s got the best hair in the Pooler Household. STAMPIN’ UP SUPPLIES:
Here’s another card using the Love Story Designer Series Paper and I teamed it up with the Charming Stamp Set (116519). Looks fabulous together, doesn’t it?? Watercolor Trio Stamp Set with Shimmery Watercolor Crayons -videoJune 24th, 2010 Posted on June 24th, 2010, 2 responses.Hi Stampers! Today’s card started out as a simple card using Stampin’ Up’s Watercolor Crayons. When I was stamping the card for the second time, my stamp was a bit dry and I wasn’t getting the intense color I wanted. First, I “painted” the stamp with my aquapainter filled with water to wet the stamp. This enables your watercolor crayon to glide more easily and to get a better application of color. Then, I went back and added more water so it will re-moisten the crayon and stamp a good image. When I was filming the video, it wasn’t as wet as I wanted, so I grabbed my Shimmer Mist (recipe at the end of the post) and sprayed my stamp. I was pleasantly surprised to get a beautiful, shimmery image when I stamped it! Woohoo! View the video to see how this all came together. What would this be called? Shimmery Watercolor Crayons? I’m lovin’ it! Supplies:
To make the Shimmer Mist, fill a bottle with Rubbing Alcohol and add a few drops of Shimmer Paint to it. It’s not an exact science. Start with a couple drops, spray and see if it’s enough shimmer for you. Want more shimmer? Add more paint! While you’re here, don’t forget to sign up for my newsletter for exclusive samples, tutorials and offers!
Stampers’ Q&A: How Do You Make Colored Smooch Spritz?June 17th, 2010 Posted on June 17th, 2010, no responses.Hey, friends! Today I wanted to show you how to make your Smooch Spritz ANY color!! The top screws off of the darling little bottle that the Smooch comes in and Ta Da! Just add a couple drops of re-inker to it. Viola! Smooch in any color under the rainbow! See how easily it’s done by viewing my video: Smooch Spritz is available in the Summer Mini Catalog and I used Stampin’ Up’s Vanilla Smooch Spritz in this video.
Stampers’ Q&A: What do you do with Stampin’ Up’s Presto Patterns Specialty Paper?June 10th, 2010 Posted on June 10th, 2010, 5 responses.Have you seen Stampin’ Up’s Presto Patterns Specialty Paper? It’s basically white paper with a pattern on it, kind of like a clear embossed pattern. When you add color to it, the pattern resists the color and it stays white! How cool!!
I like to use my ink pads with a Sponge Dauber or a Stampin’ Sponge to apply the color.
When you apply the color, the pattern on the paper POPS!! Have fun with it! Add color from your ink pad, shimmer paint, smooch spritz, etc. And here is a sneak peek of something I’ll show you next week…Barbie Pink Smooch Spritz! No, Stampin’ Up doesn’t carry it, but I’ll show you how to make it! I used the Presto Patterns piece to adorn a tag for a wine bottle. Happy Birthday Vicki! Supplies:
