Holiday Happiness Stamp Set with a Halloween Stamp???

November 7th, 2011 Posted on November 7th, 2011, 12 responses.

Have you ever used a Halloween stamp set on a Christmas card?  Today was a first for me, I do believe!  Remember last week when I was sad because I posted my last Halloween card and was putting up all my Halloween stamps?  Well, I decided to get one back out today!

Do you recognize which one it is?

You are right!  The branch is from the Out on a Limb Stamp Set and makes a perfect ornament hanger!  The ornaments from the Holiday Happiness Stamp Set are the ideal size to hang from that branch.  With these 2 sets, we’ve got ourselves a winning combination!

I wanted a soft, slightly vintage look and I used the Candy Cane Christmas Designer Fabric to take the lead.  I designed the rest of the card around it.

A little glitter on the branch and the ornaments for sparkle and the feel of snow.  Then, a snowflake that was sitting on my desk leftover from my Christmas Card Stamp-a-stack this weekend finished it off.

Polka Dots and Stripes rule this card from the fabric, to the DSP, to the patterns on the ornaments and the embossed Crumb Cake Background Layer.  I dabbed a bit of Crumb Cake ink on the embossing folder before running it through the Big Shot to give the card some texture.

Tissue Paper in Card Making? Stampers Q&A

April 22nd, 2011 Posted on April 22nd, 2011, one response.

Did you know using tissue paper or crepe paper in card making is a hot trend right now?  I’ve been seeing it here and there, and when I saw the challenge over on the Moxie Fab blog, I knew I wanted to jump on the wagon!  Their challenge was to make a card using tissue paper in a creative way.

Oh, so you ask, "How do I use tissue paper in card making?".  There are so many things you can so with it!  One of my favorites is rolling it up and making flowers, or pleating and ruffling it for a fun border.

When I thought about the challenge, I immediately knew I wanted to make a present with the super fabulous Sweet Stitches Designer Paper that I also used on yesterday’s Easter card!   I also used some hot new products from the upcoming Summer Mini Catalog by Stampin’ Up (e-mail me if you haven’t received your copy!).

This resulted in a bright and fun card to tuck into a gift.  Who wouldn’t be delighted to get this?

Stampers Q&A: What in the world is a Versamarker?

April 15th, 2011 Posted on April 15th, 2011, no responses.

I get this question quite often!  For several years, frankly I had no idea!  But then I learned a few fun techniques you can do with it such as:

  • color on your stamp image, pour on heat and stick powder and heat.  Then add glitter!  (as shown in today’s sample)
  • use to darken certain areas of your colored cardstock (video on this coming to StampNation)
  • color on your project then add any color embossing powder.  Silver for hubcaps, clear for water, windows or sheen on flowers, or Iridescent Ice for some dazzle

View the video to see the various ways to use the Versamarker!  More detailed, in depth video with more examples coming to StampNation soon!  I hope you’ll join us!

Stampers’ Q&A: How Do I Organize My 12 x 12 Cardstock?

April 8th, 2011 Posted on April 8th, 2011, 3 responses.

Last week, I shared how I organize my 8-1/2 x 11 cardstock.  Today I want to show you how I organize my 12 x 12 cardstock.

I love the paper holders by Stampin’ Up.  They are really nice because you can see your cardstock and papers and it’s easy to get them out.  Each holder will store up to 200 sheets of cardstock.

Stampers’ Q&A: How Do I Organize My Cardstock?

March 25th, 2011 Posted on March 25th, 2011, one response.

Many people ask me how I organize my cardstock.  When I began stamping almost 8 years ago, I kept all my cardstock in a craft keeper.  I quickly outgrew that!

So I bought 2 file folder boxes and made a file folder for each of Stampin’ Up’s colors.

I put my full 81/2 x 11 pieces of cardstock in there, and the scraps.

I’ve been using this method of organizing my cardstock for about 7 years and it’s worked great!  Next week I’ll share how I organize my 12 x 12 cardstock, so be sure to check back!

Stampers’ Q&A: What in the World is an Embosslit?

February 25th, 2011 Posted on February 25th, 2011, one response.

One of my customers e-mailed me asking, "What in the world is an embosslit!?"

Embosslits are fun dies for your Big Shot.  Stampin’ Up carries several different ones, shown on page 215 of the Stampin’ Up Catalog.

An embosslit cuts out a shape AND embosses a pattern on it at the same time!

There are flowers, butterflies, a heart and some tags with words.  Get a variety of them and add some pizzazz to your papercrafting projects!

View the video to see how they work.

Join us over at StampNation…there is a fun project and tutorial there showing you a great way to use these great gadgets!

Stampers’ Q&A: How Do I Store Markers?

February 18th, 2011 Posted on February 18th, 2011, no responses.

Question:  What is the best way to store my markers?

Answer:  I like to store my markers on their side.  This way the ink will stay evenly distributed inside the barrel of the marker, and not pool on one end.  My White Signo Gel Pen is a different story.  I store this upside down so that all the ink stays at the tip or writing end of the pen.

If you have a question about rubber stamping, please feel free to e-mail me!

Stampers’ Q&A: Can I Re-ink My Markers?

February 10th, 2011 Posted on February 10th, 2011, no responses.

Question: Some of my Stampin’ Up! Markers are getting dry. Can I refresh or re-ink them?

Answer: Yes you can!

I simply put a pool of ink into the lid of an embellishment container and dip my marker in it. I do this several times to suck up that ink until it seems saturated again.  Or you can pull the tip of the marker out with tweezers and saturate it that way.  View the video to see how to do that!

Stampers’ Q&A: How do I Get My Stamped Image Centered?

February 4th, 2011 Posted on February 4th, 2011, no responses.

Question:  How do I get my stamped image centered on my punched out piece of cardstock?

Answer:  I always say, "Stamp first, punch second!".

Stampin’ Up has so many stamps that fit inside our punches, and you want them perfectly lined up on your project.  Doing this is easy!

First, stamp your image on your cardstock.

Then, with your punch turned upside down, line your stamped image inside the punch and punch!
