My Digital Studio Downloads, Cards and Projects Club Projects

February 3rd, 2010 Posted on February 3rd, 2010, no responses.

Hey, friends!  Woohooo!  Today I got out of the house and went to the gym, I was so excited to get out.  We’ve been “snowed in” here since Friday night with no school for the kiddos.  Raleigh doesn’t have the snow removal equipment needed for a big storm, so we pretty much just sit back and wait for the snow to melt.  Today it’s 50 degrees outside, so I do believe they will have school tomorrow!

Thanks to you all that have left comments on my latest videos.  A few “housekeeping notes”:

  • Chellie wanted to know how I got the first scallop to line up perfectly at the beginning of my DSP on my Stampin’ Up Fancy Flower Card…Chellie, I hate to admit it, but it was pure luck!  If you look at the other end of the DSP, you’ll see the scallop gets cut off.
  • On yesterday’s Valentine Treat, Debbie asked if it could be used as a gift card holder.  Absolutely!  Just be sure to cut your cardstock about 1 1/2″ wider than the gift card.
  • As for the Valentine Treat, it will be one of my next Cards and Projects club project, but I tried and tried to do a chocolate scratch and sniff, and I couldn’t get it to work out quite right.  I used cocoa powder and clear embossing powder.  It embossed fine, but later it didn’t smell like chocoate.  Waahhhh!    We will make the treat, but embellish with some hearts instead.  Be on the lookout for the Scratch and Sniff Technique next month for my Cards and Projects club!  Local or Long Distance.

New Stampin’ Up My Digital Studio Downloads!  Corduroy Buttons and Epoxy Brads!  Visit my online store and you can purchase, then download these gems to dress up all your digital papercrafting projects!

Be sure to visit my online store also to see the talking girl!  I didn’t know she was there?  When did she appear?  How cool is that?

Check back tomorrow, I will have a video for you of a great, simple card using just a few products….I’m quite excited about this design.  If you are in my Cards and Projects local club, don’t forget to register and bring a friend!

OR register for my Online Cards and Projects Club and I will send you all the materials to make it plus 2 other projects!

Hey, friends!  I’m so excited today to announce that My Digital Studio users can now have individual pages professionally printed in Stampin’ Up!’s coordinating colors. Being able to print single pages will allow you to create hybrid scrapbook pages, and scrapbook pages for framing and home decor.

I created these pages back in December for gifts.  Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to have Stampin’ Up print them off for me.  I went to the local camera store to get them printed.  I about fell out when they told me it would be $17!  Stampin’ Up prints them for $2.95!  uh…HELLO!!  I can’t wait to get these printed now!

I used a Designer Template, popped my pictures in, tweaked a thing or 2 and that was it.  Simple and easy, and the bonus is I can make multiple copies for friends and family.  I can also pop these pages in my scrapbook, or add ribbon and embellishments to it if I want.

THE SKINNY:  Individual pages are printed on one side only and include the Stampin’ Up! and My Digital Studio logos on the back. You can order pages through your My Digital Studio software. Single pages require a minimum quantity of five.

Along with printing individual pages, Stampin’ Up is also introducing two new downloads to My Digital Studio: the Recipes by Design kit and the You’re Invited invitation kit.

My Digital Studio Christmas Card

December 23rd, 2009 Posted on December 23rd, 2009, one response.

christmas-card-2009-0011

Merry Christmas Everyone!

I wanted to share our Christmas Card this year.  I took the girls to the mall and shot this photograph in front of Santa.  I did not use a flash for this photo and  I got just the look I was looking for!  Gosh, these sweeties are cute! ;)  I know…I’m biased.

By the next morning, I had uploaded this photo and made the card in My Digital Studio.  It was that fast.  And within a matter of days I had them printed off and ready to go with almost no work!

Since this is the time to take tons-o-photos, here are a few tips for you from  Ron Nichols, author of Picture-Taking for Moms and Dads, and How to Take Great Pet Pictures. Ron encourages families to make the most of the occasion by capturing some of that joy in photographs. Here are a few ways Ron suggests to turn average holiday photos into “visual treasures.”

  1. Chronicle your children’s holiday school projects on film. Thanksgiving and Christmas art projects made by the hands of our children are among the greatest gifts a parent will ever receive. Take the time to photograph your child with the project (use natural light if you can). It’s a great way to always remember that special gift.
  2. Add some holiday cheer with your pets. Pets are such an important part of our families, so why not feature them in your holiday photos, especially if they’re donned in holiday attire!
  3. While the entire family’s together, take a family portrait. It can sometimes be difficult to get the entire family together, so when you do, be sure to take the time to make a group photo. It’s likely to be a cherished keepsake.
  4. Have your camera ready. Christmas morning is an exciting time for everyone. Parents are likely to be rousted from their sleep fairly early. Be certain you have your camera loaded with fresh batteries and in a readily-accessible place, so you can capture the excitement.
  5. Get close. It’s the number one rule for better photos any time of year, and the same is true during the holidays. So whether your photographing spontaneous moments, or you’re taking the time to shoot a portrait, closer is almost always better.
  6. Give yourself the gift of making great photos all year long. Children will be grown and gone before you know it, so take the time to make beautiful pictures, whether it’s a holiday, a birthday or just a play day.

And a few tips from me:  Make sure to get pictures of YOURSELF!  These will be very important to your children.

And take photos of the tree withOUT a flash.  The lights will show up beautifully!

I know you’re going to need to SCRAPBOOK these photos, so check out my Christmas Jingle Kit…only a few left!

Happy Stamping Everyone!

The Skinny on My Digital Studio

December 10th, 2009 Posted on December 10th, 2009, no responses.

updates…Just wanted to make sure you all knew that Stampin’ Up has an update for My Digital Studio.

Open My Digital Studio.  Along the top you will see, File, Edit, Arrange….etc…the last one is Help.  Hover over Help and a drop down menu will show up.  The second option is “Check For Updates”.  This will connect you with SU and it will walk you through it if there are any updates available….which there is one now to fix the bleed area issue when printing a bound book.  You will want to do this every once in a while.

You still need to be careful when printing a calendar, though. Make sure there aren’t any photos, embellishments, etc, because it is possibly that 1/4″ of each side and 1/2″ from the top and bottom will be cut off when printing.

Also, make sure your background goes ALL THE WAY OFF into the bleed section or you will end up with a white border all the way around your project.

Hope you found that helpful!

I just love these little triangle boxes.  You can put some treats inside, or a small gift.

With a few measurements, you’ll be able to crank out a bunch of them for teacher gifts, hostesses, neighbors and friends.

Cut your 8 1/2 x 11 cardstock at 4 x 11.  Score the long way at 5 1/2.  I made a “tick mark” on the 4″ side at 2″, then scored from the 2″ mark to the 4″ mark along the 4 sides.

To see what I mean, watch the video!
