Masculine Card Making: Got 10?

May 16th, 2011 Posted on May 16th, 2011, 8 responses.

Welcome to today’s Got 10 Card…a card in 10 minutes or less!  I’ve had some requests for some masculine cards, so that was my goal today.  I’m not sure this is my favorite card…what do you think?  Anything you would change?  I like the layered punches and I loove the Vintage Trinkets….but there is something that I’m not sure about.   Maybe it’s the gathered ribbon?  Maybe I needed more sponging on the Elegant Soiree Designer Paper and the Cherry Cobbler Layer?

When prepping for this card, I realized I don’t have a lot of masculine stamp sets, so choosing colors, patterns and a greeting set the stage here.

Once I chose my colors, the rest was fairly simple.   My card base is 11 x 4-1/4, then a 4×4 layer and a 3 x 3-1/2" layer finished off the card base.  A few punched shapes and a greeting and I was done!  See the steps of making this card in the video (If you are reading this in a feed, click on the post title to view):

Stampin’ Up Supplies:

  • Teeny Tiny Wishes Stamp Set
  • Cardstock: 115318 Soft Suede, 101650 Very Vanilla, 119685 Cherry Cobbler
  • Ink:  121030 Crumb Cake, 119670 Early Espresso
  • Accessories:  Decorative Label Punch, 119850 1-3/4" Circle Punch, 117335 Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder,104430 Dimensionals, 101610 Sponges, 119961 Early Espresso Striped Grosgrain, 118764 Vintage Trinkets, 120327 Music Notes Wheel, 119857 Word Window Punch

Got 10? with Create a Cupcake Stamp Set!

April 25th, 2011 Posted on April 25th, 2011, no responses.

Happy Easter Monday everyone!  I hope you enjoyed the holiday weekend with friends and family.  I was in charge of dinner yesterday, but the best part wasn’t anything I made…it was the dessert.

Generally, if it doesn’t involve chocolate, I’m not interested, but my Mother-in-law brought a Lemon Meringue Pie and a Coconut Cake,  Oh, my goodness…they were to DIE for!  Both from scratch, and both were just heavenly.

I guess I couldn’t get desserts outta my head today when I grabbed for the Build-a-Cupcake Punch and coordinating Create-a-Cupcake Stamp Set !  For this card, I have to tell you, the "hardest" part was lining up the cupcake and the greeting so that it was evenly spaced out on the layer (2-3/4 x 4).

Using the  Build-a-Cupcake Punch and the coordinating Create-a-Cupcake Stamp Set makes it easy to make a card like this.

The punch, punches out lots of little shapes and you probably want them different colors, so I find it easiest to do my stamping on a narrow, but long scrap of paper.  Narrow, so you don’t get gazillions of little punch outs all over.  Long, so you have something to hold onto while inserting into the punch.  See what I mean:

If you are interested in the  Build-a-Cupcake Punch and the coordinating Create-a-Cupcake Stamp Set, be sure to get it by Saturday, April 30.  There is no guarantee that it will be available again!

The same goes for everything in theSpring Occasions Mini Catalog.  Be sure you don’t miss out on your favorites!

Stampin’ Up Supplies:

  • (WM 121915, CM 121982) Create-a-Cupcake Stamp Set (available only through April 30)
  • Cardstock: 100730 Whisper White, 119686 Early Espresso, 119795 Pear Pizzazz
  • Ink: 119784 Pear Pizzazz, 119786 Blushing Bride, 119670 Early Espresso
  • Accessories:  Basic Rhinestones, 104430 Stampin’ Dimensionals, Scallop Trim Border Punch, In Color Designer Series Paper (Hostess Level 1),  Build-a-Cupcake Punch

Got 10? 10 Minutes with Have a Seat Stamp Set

March 14th, 2011 Posted on March 14th, 2011, 3 responses.

If you are like most people, you don’t have a lot of time to be crafty and love quick cards!  But I’m sure you’ve got 10 minutes!

Today’s card features the Have a Seat stamp set and the Elegant Soiree Designer Series Paper for a quick 10 minute card.

Here’s how it’s done!

  1. Cut your 8-1/2 x 11 cardstock in half, then fold it in half creasing it with your bone folder.
  2. Cut a neutral piece of cardstock to 3-1/2 x 4-3/4.
  3. Cut your Designer Series Paper to 2-3/4 x 3-1/2.
  4. Stamp your image and greeting on the top of your neutral cardstock.
  5. Adhere your DSP to the bottom of the neutral cardstock.
  6. Add a dimensional to each corner of your neutral cardstock.
  7. Lay your ribbon down, adhere your cardstock layer on top of it, and tie the ribbon.
  8. You’re done!

I  made this card for my dad who just had his last day of work on Saturday!  He has worked on the railroad for the past 43 years as a train engineer.  I was always proud to say my dad worked on the B&O, like on Monopoly!

He is currently in Florida and is moving here to Raleigh and will arrive on Wednesday.  He’ll stay with us for about 2 weeks before moving into his own place.  We can’t wait to have him here!  (I need someone to help me be Mom Taxi, LOL!).

Congratulations, Dad!

Got 10? 10 Minute Card with Love Impressions Rub-ons!

February 1st, 2011 Posted on February 1st, 2011, 3 responses.

Today’s Got 10 card features the Love Impressions Rub-ons!  These are so quick and easy to use, apply them with the provided popsicle stick, or the edge of your bone folder.  One of my favorite things about Rub-ons is the fact that you can put them on darker paper and the colors show up perfectly!

Use this layout to inspire your creativitiy.  Use a different punch, different colors, different images.  Add some background stamping, or embossing.  Add another strip of Designer Series Paper.  Or keep it simple when you are running out the door and need a card!
