Welcome to today’s Got 10 Card…a card in 10 minutes or less! I’ve had some requests for some masculine cards, so that was my goal today. I’m not sure this is my favorite card…what do you think? Anything you would change? I like the layered punches and I loove the Vintage Trinkets….but there is something that I’m not sure about. Maybe it’s the gathered ribbon? Maybe I needed more sponging on the Elegant Soiree Designer Paper and the Cherry Cobbler Layer? When prepping for this card, I realized I don’t have a lot of masculine stamp sets, so choosing colors, patterns and a greeting set the stage here. Once I chose my colors, the rest was fairly simple. My card base is 11 x 4-1/4, then a 4×4 layer and a 3 x 3-1/2" layer finished off the card base. A few punched shapes and a greeting and I was done! See the steps of making this card in the video (If you are reading this in a feed, click on the post title to view):

Wild Card Wednesday: Embedded Embossing TechniqueFebruary 2nd, 2011 Posted on February 2nd, 2011, 18 responses.
Have you see this Embedded Embossing Technique?? It’s SO cool! One of my downline, Susan, demonstrated it for us at one of our recent events and everyone loved it. So I thought I’d try my hand at it. I love how it turned out and I think I will be playing with this again. I haven’t used the Sense of Time stamp set much, but it’s one I really like. When I was planning this card, I knew it would look really cool in the background. I stamped it in Crumb Cake ink on Very Vanilla Cardstock. I added some sponging with Early Espresso (lightly) on the stamped piece. Next, I stamped the bird from the Punch Potpouri Stamp Set in Early Espresso Ink onto the First Edition Specialty Paper. This gave it a neat effect with the words subtley showing through the stamped image. I sponged along the top of the bird’s wing and adhered it all to the Very Vanilla circle. I cut this circle using the Circle Scissors Plus at just under 3" to fit inside the scallop circle. Click here to learn how to use the Circle Scissors Plus.
Once I finished adhering the bird to the main layer of my card, I ran it through the Big shot with the Square Lattice Embossing Folder. The pressure of the Big Shot "mashes" all those layers together while creating a fabulous pattern on the cardstock. When it’s done, it has the appearance of being one layer of cardstock. So basically, the cardstock layers are embedded into the main piece of cardstock! See how it was done:

Stampin’ Up’s Contempo Christmas Photo Card!November 17th, 2010 Posted on November 17th, 2010, 3 responses.A photo card for the holidays is a wonderful way to connect with friends and family. How many of your friends have holiday photo cards plastered all over their fridge all year long? This year YOUR card could be the favorite one on the fridge! This card was quick and easy to whip up and is awaiting that famous family letter to put inside. I think I’ll make hubby write it this year! I started with a half sheet of Crumb Cake Cardstock, folded in half. My Real Red layer is cut at 4 x 5 1/4". I stamped it with the Christmas Collage Stamp in Real Red and sponged Early Espresso around the edges. Next, I stamped the ornament from the Contempo Christmas Stamp Set in Real Red Craft Ink (this is a pigment ink that is wet and is fabulous for embossing), then poured on my Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder and heated it with my heat tool. The Ornament Punch by Stampin’ Up made it a snap to punch out this glittery awesome-ness! A little Tinsel and the greeting punched out with the Modern Label Punch finished this simple and gorgeous card (do you think I’m stuck up saying that? LOL). STAMPIN’ UP SUPPLIES:

Stampers’ Q&A: Heat EmbossingOctober 25th, 2010 Posted on October 25th, 2010, 15 responses.Today’s Stampers Q&A comes from my embossing video from last week. View that here. Sylvia asks to know, "Thank you for the video. Does the embossing work better with craft ink pads than the other ink pads?". Stampin’ Up’s exclusive colored ink pads come in 2 different formulations. Craft and Classic. Classic ink is a dye-based ink. It dries immediately and is easy to work with. The Craft Ink Pads are pigment inks. You can think Pigment:paint. They are both thick and wet. Pigment ink is wet when stamped and will take a while to dry. The benefit is a rich, dark color and when it is wet, you can pour on embossing powder and emboss your image. You can’t do that with Classic Inks because they dry right away and the embossing powder will not stick to it. The other type of ink that you can emboss with is a Versamark Pad. I hope that answers your question, Sylvia and don’t hesitate to ask me more questions!
Do you see the fancy, colored, glittered pearls? Stampin’ Up does not sell those, but I made them! I simply dabbed craft ink onto the pearls, covered them in Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder, then heated them with my heat tool! Pretty nifty!
Have a wonderful Saturday! My inspiration today came from 365 Cards, Pile it on, 2sketches4you, cuttlebugspot, incywincydesigns and the shabby tearoom.
Welcome Christmas Stamp Set and Heat Embossing Video!October 21st, 2010 Posted on October 21st, 2010, 19 responses.
My club order came in last night and I shrieked with delight because my new Music Notes Wheel was in there! Gosh, when I got my Papercrafts Magazine this month, sheet music was EVERYWHERE! I guess it’s all the rage right now and we want to be trendy papercrafters, right? I have Deck the Halls Designer Paper and Newsprint Designer Paper, which both have patterns with sheet music…but you only get 2 sheets in each pack and you know what happens to that…it’s GONE! So, I thought the wheel would come in handy and I can have any color sheet music any time I want! WOOT! You are going to see this wheel A LOT! I used it here for my background and wheeled it in Crumb Cake ink on Crumb Cake Cardstock (I just rolled the wheel on my ink pad). STAMPIN’ UP SUPPLIES:

Stampin’ Up’s Butterfly Accent with Heat Embossing!February 24th, 2010 Posted on February 24th, 2010, 7 responses.Happy Wednesday to you! Thanks for checking in to day to see my newest Iridescent Ice Heat Embossing video! This one is a bit different. I used the Stampin’ Up Butterfly Accent Stamp Set from the Mini Catalog to emboss a beautiful, glittery butterfly onto Shades of Spring Designer Series Paper. Then I cut it out, adhered it with some dimensionals over my row of circle punches. My favorite part of this card has to be the rhinestones for the body of the butterfly. Those came from the Eggcelent Eggs Kit from Stampin’ Up’s Mini Catatlog! I don’t think I’ll have any left for egg decorating at this rate!

Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder, meet I {Heart} Hearts Stamp SetFebruary 22nd, 2010 Posted on February 22nd, 2010, one response.Hello, Stampers! Today I have another video highlighting Stampin’ Up’s Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder. Even though Valentine’s Day is past, Stampin’ Up’s I {Heart} Hearts Stamp Set is still a fabulous stamp for many occasions. Who wouldn’t want an I love you card anytime during the year! And when you purchase this set through Feb. 28, Stampin’ Up will donate $2 to American Red Cross’ Haiti Relief and Development Fund. I used the Versamark Ink to stamp a few hearts on my white cardstock and those became subtle, glittery hearts….then I wanted to highlight one, so I inked my heart in Real Red Craft Ink and stamped. Craft Ink is a pigment ink and it’s thick and stays wet for a while. This enables you to pour on embossing powder and emboss your stamped image. This also makes it a bit messy to work with! Thus, my card looks different that I intended. Different, but just as good I think! I smudged the red ink in a few places, so I had the opportunity to be creative and see how I could cover up the smudges. View the video and see how!

Heat Embossing: Faux Diamonds Technique with Everything Nice Stamp SetFebruary 15th, 2010 Posted on February 15th, 2010, 2 responses.Yippeee! I made another video! I had this card planned in my mind for more than a week, but when I hurt my back, it just stayed in my head. I was really excited to get to make it yesterday. (My back still hurts, but continues to improve and today I am getting a massage. woohooo!) It might be hard to tell from the photo, but the main image piece here was made with the Faux Diamonds Technique. First, I used my Stampin’ Write Markers to ink the stamp, then after I stamped it, I inked up my 1 3/4″ x 1 3/4″ square with the Versamark Ink. Then, I poured Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder over it, tapped it off and heated it. Heat Embossing Tips: The “toughest” part of embossing is being able to tell when it’s done. When I am embossing, I watch carefully for the powder to melt. The color of your ink, embossing powder or paper will change (usually get darker). When you think it’s done, hold it up to the light and move it around to get a good look at it. Make sure there are no spots of powder on your image. If the entire area is shiny and not powdery, you’re done! If you see any powder, zap it again with your heat tool.

Cards and Projects ClubFebruary 4th, 2010 Posted on February 4th, 2010, 3 responses.Hello Friends! ahhh…the kids went back to school today. What an interesting, unexpected vacation and I know you northerners are totally cracking up that 5″ of snow on Saturday had the kids out of school through Wednesday! Certainly not how I grew up in Upstate NY! anyway…. My friend Amy brought me some scrapbooking magazines last week and while perusing, I got inspired to make this card! You can see the original scrapbook page from Scrapbooks, Etc., in the video. I love the “peek-a-boo” look and I’m cooking up some more projects using this idea. Aint it cool? Stampin’ Tips: I embossed the greeting by stamping Happy Birthday from the Well Scripted stamp set in White Craft Ink, poured on my White Embossing Powder, then I heated it with my Stampin’ Up Heat Tool. Before stamping, be sure to wipe down your cardstock with the Embossing Buddy, it will remove the static from your cardstock so the Embossing Powder only sticks to the stamped image. One thing to think about though, the white powder in the Embossing Buddy can make a bit of a smudge on your Black cardstock, so for club, I am going to change this card base to Close to Cocoa to make it a bit more user-friendly. (and yes, that smudge on the bottom is totally bugging me now that I keep looking at it! yikes!) If you are a Cards and Projects Club member, we will be making this on Sunday or Monday. Be sure to register here for your session and if you haven’t joined us before, I invite you to come have some fun! Not local to Raleigh? You can still participate and get all the supplies to make this and 2 more projects when you join the Online Cards and Projects club! The skinny here.
