Catherine’s Color Combo #10: A Cute Christmas Stamp Set meets Jolly Old St. Nick Stamp SetOctober 22nd, 2010 Posted on October 22nd, 2010, 7 responses.Welcome to this week’s Color combo #10!! (Did you notice that I skipped this feature last week? Sorry about that!) I was stamping the snowman from the Jolly Old St. Nick Stamp set onto my white cardstock and when I was done coloring him in, I thought it looked pretty naked. I glanced at my stash of stamps and noticed A Cute Christmas and thought the trees from that set would be a perfect background for the sweet little snowman. Woot! Both stamp sets I used today are from the Holiday Mini Catalog. Let me know if you need a copy! Click here to see it online.
Notice anything else about my card for today? If you have been following my blog, you know my first craft was sewing. My mother taught me at a very early age. Once I picked up a stamp, I have barely touched the sewing machine. Well, my 11 year old daughter has been getting lessons from my mom, and mom even bought her a Hello Kitty Sewing Machine!
The other night, Anna got the machine out and started making a sock elephant. Well, when it was time for bed, guess what happened the the sewing machine. You guessed it…nothing! It stayed right on my stamping table. I moved it to underneath the table…but that sucker was calling me! So today, I pushed the Toshiba out of the way and had some fun with Hello Kitty! My very first stitched card. You WILL be seeing more!

I decided to use this week’s color combination to make a Christmas Card. The inspiration for this color combo came from pages 6 and 7 of the Stampin’ Up Catalog. If you do not already have a copy and would like to purchase Stampin’ Up goodies from me, send me an email and I will get one in the mail to you. This is a bit different combo that I have used on a Christmas Card and all the while making it, I was thinking BLAH! I don’t like this! Has that ever happened to you? But when I finished and it all came together, it’s much prettier than I thought it woud be! What do you think? If you would like to see how to use the Circle Cutter to make this fabulous circles, click here.

Catherine’s Color Combo #8 with Every Moment Stamp SetSeptember 30th, 2010 Posted on September 30th, 2010, 3 responses.Welcome to Catherine’s Color Combo #8! This week I combined my color combination with the challenge over at CASE Study where I am sponsoring this week! I began with some Watercolor Paper and stamped the bird and cattails from the Every Moment Stamp Set in StazOn Ink. You want to use a waterproof ink, so that it doesn’t run or bleed when you add water to it. I used the blender pens and ink pads to color my images. View my video on how to do that here. I used my Scallop Oval Big Shot Die to cut out my stamped image, then I layered the different colors of cardstock from the combo to layer behind it. A little crochet trim, black 1/8" Tafetta Ribbon and an Antique Brad set it off! What a gorgeous all occasion card! STAMPIN’ UP SUPPLIES:

Catherine’s Color Combo #7 with Cartoon Kids Stamp SetSeptember 24th, 2010 Posted on September 24th, 2010, 8 responses.Welcome to this week’s Color Combination! I’ve been running this feature for 7 weeks already! How do you like it? I love this week’s color combo and it is NOT a "normal" one for me! I never use Perfect Plum. I mean almost never. I think it adds a great punch here with the other colors and rounds out a gorgeous, soft color scheme. So here is the full card. How do you like my watercoloring? I had a mini lesson on coloring from my sweet friend, Diana Gibbs, at Founder’s Circle. Some of the keys are to outline the entire image FIRST with a neutral color. Here I used River Rock with my blender pen. Next, I used Old Olive, Baja Breeze and Perfect Plum inks with my blender pens, concentrating the color around the edges of the image, getting lighter as you go to the middle. View a video here to see how to use your blender pens and ink pads to color. If you are in the Raleigh-Durham area, please attend my Cards and Projects class on October 3 or 4 to learn how to do this in person! REGISTER HERE STAMPIN’ UP SUPPLIES:

How stinkin’ cute is this stamp set? I should have stamped the big bird on my card, too…then it would be me with my 3 little baby birds trailing behind me, hehe! Maybe I’ll make a scrapbook page, that would be cute! Catherine’s Color Combo #5: Elements of Style Stamp SetSeptember 2nd, 2010 Posted on September 2nd, 2010, 19 responses.

Catherine’s Color Combo #4 with Look Who’s Turning Stamp SetAugust 26th, 2010 Posted on August 26th, 2010, one response. What a fun, bright and cheerful color combination this is! WOW! For some reason, the photo is looking a bit dark to me…not sure why. It’s so bright and cheerful in person! It worked perfectly with the Sunny Garden Designer Series Paper. and the Look Who’s Turning Stamp Set. I even thought about putting a 4 – 0 on there and giving it to a girlfriend of mine. Even though it’s Kid-like, I think it would be fun for a grown up to get, too. STAMPIN UP SUPPLIES:

Pear Pizzazz is becoming my "go to" green…even over Old Olive and Certainly Celery! I’m not even kiddin! It’s just a perfectly wonderful green. Peach Parfait is a soft, pretty orange, and Poppy Parade is a nice red with a pop of orange undertone. Here’s the card I was inspired to make using the Just Believe Stamp Set. Introducing Catherine’s Color Combos: Printed Petals Stamp SetAugust 5th, 2010 Posted on August 5th, 2010, 2 responses.Today I am introducing a new feature that I will be running regularly on Thursdays for you! It is very common for stampers and scrapbookers to get stuck in a rut…me included!…and have trouble coming up with new color combinations. I tend to gravitate towards pinks and browns, so this color combo feature will help me, too! With Stampin’ Up’s new color configuration, you will find yourself using more of the colors from each color family. I know with the previous colors, there were colors I bought and didn’t use for years. I’m talking like 5 years! I don’t see that happening with the new colors….so on to the very first Catherine’s Color Combo! Daffodil Delight – Marina Mist – Cherry Cobbler - Early Espresso Have you taken a peek at Stampin’ Up’s Spanish Catalog? There are some exclusive sets and fun samples in that catalog…check it out! I have CASED (copy and steal everything) quite a few samples from there. Can you find the card that I CASED for this post? Leave a comment here telling me what page this sample is on in the Spanish catalog. The first person that answers correctly will get a hand-stamped "lovey" in the mail from me! US and non-demos only please! Cute layout, huh?? STAMPIN’ UP SUPPLIES:
