Peaceful Season Stamp Set and THREES!

peaceful season-stampin-up

I’m excited to be the Guest Designer at Tuesday Throwdown this week!

Their challenge today is THREES.  I decided to whip out my new Northern Flurries Big Shot Die and add 3 gorgeous glittery snowflakes!  I’ve been using these gems a lot lately.  I used them on this card , too, and got an entirely different look!

 peaceful-season-stampin-up

The Petals-a-plenty Embossing Folder added interest to the background and the Top Note Big Shot Die made a perfect layer for stamping my greeting on.

A little Jolly Holiday Designer Series Paper and Certainly Celery Tafetta Ribbon really topped the card off and tied all the colors together.  I really like how this card came out and I am thinking about doing a simplified version of it for my upcoming Christmas Card Crank.  If you’re in the Raleigh-Durham area, be sure to register soon!

My Digital Studio Christmas Card

christmas-card-2009-0011

Merry Christmas Everyone!

I wanted to share our Christmas Card this year.  I took the girls to the mall and shot this photograph in front of Santa.  I did not use a flash for this photo and  I got just the look I was looking for!  Gosh, these sweeties are cute! ;)   I know…I’m biased.

By the next morning, I had uploaded this photo and made the card in My Digital Studio.  It was that fast.  And within a matter of days I had them printed off and ready to go with almost no work!

Since this is the time to take tons-o-photos, here are a few tips for you from  Ron Nichols, author of Picture-Taking for Moms and Dads, and How to Take Great Pet Pictures. Ron encourages families to make the most of the occasion by capturing some of that joy in photographs. Here are a few ways Ron suggests to turn average holiday photos into “visual treasures.”

  1. Chronicle your children’s holiday school projects on film. Thanksgiving and Christmas art projects made by the hands of our children are among the greatest gifts a parent will ever receive. Take the time to photograph your child with the project (use natural light if you can). It’s a great way to always remember that special gift.
  2. Add some holiday cheer with your pets. Pets are such an important part of our families, so why not feature them in your holiday photos, especially if they’re donned in holiday attire!
  3. While the entire family’s together, take a family portrait. It can sometimes be difficult to get the entire family together, so when you do, be sure to take the time to make a group photo. It’s likely to be a cherished keepsake.
  4. Have your camera ready. Christmas morning is an exciting time for everyone. Parents are likely to be rousted from their sleep fairly early. Be certain you have your camera loaded with fresh batteries and in a readily-accessible place, so you can capture the excitement.
  5. Get close. It’s the number one rule for better photos any time of year, and the same is true during the holidays. So whether your photographing spontaneous moments, or you’re taking the time to shoot a portrait, closer is almost always better.
  6. Give yourself the gift of making great photos all year long. Children will be grown and gone before you know it, so take the time to make beautiful pictures, whether it’s a holiday, a birthday or just a play day.

And a few tips from me:  Make sure to get pictures of YOURSELF!  These will be very important to your children.

And take photos of the tree withOUT a flash.  The lights will show up beautifully!

I know you’re going to need to SCRAPBOOK these photos, so check out my Christmas Jingle Kit…only a few left!

Happy Stamping Everyone!

Hi Everyone!  Just a quick post today…gotta finish up the Christmas shopping, then off to a holiday party tonight!  yipppeeee!

My friend, Kim Allen, sent me this photo yesterday of her teacher gifts.  Isn’t it gorgeous!?  Lovely Letters and Baroque Motifs are my all time favorite stamp sets together and this takes it to a new level!  She used gold cord and the ornament punch along with circle punches to layer the letters.

FANTASTIC, Kim!  Thanks for sharing!

Merry Moments Designer Series Paper Diaper Fold Pouch Video Tutorial!- Holiday Treat!

December 13th, 2009 Posted on December 13th, 2009, no responses.

smorgasboard2

diaperfold1

Hello Stamper Friends!

I’ve been making this Diaper Fold Pouch for years now.  It’s always a great project for a small treat and takes minimal supplies.  Really, you just need a bag of candy, some patterned paper and a brad, or you can gussy it up a bit more and add embellishments.

You can also make it different sizes.  The only thing to keep in mind is your paper needs to be SQUARE.  This one is a 6×6.  The great thing about a 6×6 is that you can get FOUR out of one sheet of Designer Series Paper…and that means you can get 48 out of a whole PACK of DSP!  For $10 – $12 you can’t beat it!

I made a quick video to show you how quick and easy it is.  See for yourself!

Supplies:

  • 116795 Sleigh Bells Ribbon 10 yards for $7.95
  • 116471 Sweet Season Stamp Set $18.95
  • 115672 Merry Moments Designer Series Paper $9.95
  • 103133 Read Red Ink Pad $5.95
  • 109043 Scallop Circle Punch $15.95
  • 116631 Paper Piercing Tool $3.95
  • 105826 Mat Pack $9.95
  • 109111 Circle Ice Rhinestone Brads $10.95 for 84 brads
  • 103104 Small Flat Cello Bags $3.95 for 50…yes, you heard that right!

Wine Bottle Topper…Holiday Gift!

December 8th, 2009 Posted on December 8th, 2009, no responses.

smorgasboard2

bottle1

A good bottle of wine always makes a good gift…but to make it great, why not add a little topper?  It took me just a couple of minutes to put these together.

I cut my Kraft cardstock to 2 3/4 x 12.  If you don’t have 12 x 12, you could always make them shorter and cut at 2 3/4 x 11.

I scored at 2 3/4 so the top that fits over the bottle is a square.  I used my 1 3/4″ Circle Punch to make the hole for the wine bottle to go through.

I used the Christmas Cocoa Designer Series Paper cut at 9 x 2 1/2 to embellish the front and because this paper is so gorgeous, I didn’t need much else!

bottle2

Supplies:

  • 116770 Christmas Cocoa Designer Series Paper
  • 109043 Scallop Circle Punch
  • 104401 1 3/4″ Circle Punch
  • 101227 1/16″ hole punch
  • 100908 Chocolate Chip Ink
  • 116471 Sweet Season Stamp Set
  • 107070 Kraft Cardstock
  • 115617 Chocolate Chip Striped Grosgrain
  • 115612 Soft Suede Polka Dot Ribbon
  • 104199 Linen Thread

And you might notice I used the Word Window punch…I made a booboo when I stamped the greeting.  No mistake, just an opportunity for creativity, right?

bottle3

Wonder how long these bottles will stay pretty…..;)

Check back tomorrow for another gift idea in my Holiday Gifts and Treats Smorgasboard.  Then be sure to visit me later in the week for Stampin’ Up’s 12 Days of Christmas promotion.

I am so excited to finally say:  Welcome to my Holiday Gifts and Treats Smorgasboard! Are you ready for 2 weeks of Holiday ideas?  Gifts, treats, goodies, oh, my!  Well, buckle up because here we go!  And be sure to keep checking back for more, I’ve got lots up my sleeve!  (I figured out how to save my video as a different file to upload it to Youtube, so I’m back in business!:)

Notice my nifty banner! I made that with My Digital Studio.  It was a snap!

trainglebox11

I just love these little triangle boxes.  You can put some treats inside, or a small gift.

With a few measurements, you’ll be able to crank out a bunch of them for teacher gifts, hostesses, neighbors and friends.

Cut your 8 1/2 x 11 cardstock at 4 x 11.  Score the long way at 5 1/2.  I made a “tick mark” on the 4″ side at 2″, then scored from the 2″ mark to the 4″ mark along the 4 sides.

To see what I mean, watch the video!

Supplies:

  • 116471 Sweet Season Stamp Set
  • 100908 Chocolate Chip Ink Pad

I saw a card similar to this on Ronda Wade’s website and thought it was beautiful.  Wreaths are quite a hot trend right now and this is my favorite that I have seen.  I’m sure you can make this wreath in a pretty good circle, freehand, if you’re inclined, but I used my Circle Scissors Plus to make a template to give my wreath shape.

Supplies:

  • 116824 Stampin’ Up Textured Impressions Folder Petals-A-Plenty
  • 109070 White Tafetta Ribbon
  • 111760 A Cardinal Christmas (greeting)
  • 102277 Old Olive Ink Pad
  • 100052 Real Red Stampin’ Write Marker
  • 105125 Certainly Celery Cardstock
  • 102482 Real Red Cardstock
  • 100702 Old Olive Cardstock
  • 100730 Whisper White Cardstock
  • 108362 Crop-A-Dile

If you do not own a Big Shot yet, when you purchase the (114439) Big Shot Machine it comes with everything you need to use the Impressions Folder.

Did you know if you purchase the Big Shot and a couple dies, you can get HOSTESS BENEFITS!?  Contact me for details!
