Gift Tags #3 in the Series!

December 14th, 2011 Posted on December 14th, 2011, no responses.

The 3rd Gift Tag in this series is a little twist on the first 2!  Instead of punching out a 2-1/2" Circle to put on the front, how about punching THROUGH the front of the Gift Tag?!

Adding the banner from Pines and Poinsettias, the holly and a rhinestone gives this Gift Card more interest and fun.

See how it was done in this video (if viewing in a feed, click the title of this post to view online):

Eva, the Budding Stamper!

December 7th, 2011 Posted on December 7th, 2011, 2 responses.

My 7 year old has been doing a lot of stamping lately and I think she’s getting kind of good!  You may remember the card she made for her big sister HERE

Over the past few days she has been working on her birthday thank you cards.  I can honestly say she did this card all by herself, other than a bit of the cutting and I suggested an snowflake.  Other than that, this was all her!

I love that she used glitter under the skaters for ice.  And yes, now I am completely out of Dazzling Diamonds Glitter now!  She cleaned me out!

A few things I saw while she was working:

  • Excitement, she had a ball!
  • Perfectionism: she was driving me nuts a few times when it didn’t "turn out right" (I was a bit surprised that the smudges on this card pass Eva-inspection!)
  • Creativity and attention to detail: the envelopes speak to this!

Plain white envelopes were not good enough for her.  She used all sorts of things to dress these up!  Guess they will all be hand delivered.

I did film a short video of her talking about her creations, but she didn’t want me to post it on my blog.  I asked her if I could post it on facebook and she said yes!  (Not sure she really knows the difference between the blog and facebook so much, but whatever…I’m going with it!).

So hop over to my facebook page, Like it and view the video!  See you there!

Mass Producing Christmas Cards #6: Letters to Santa Designer Series Paper

November 30th, 2011 Posted on November 30th, 2011, 4 responses.

Welcome to the 6th card and video tutorial in the Mass Producing Christmas Cards Series!  This one is my favorite so far.  From the comments and "thumbs up" on Youtube, it looks like you all are in favor of the Ornament Card.  Can’t wait to see what you think of this one!

View the video to get some tips on stamping, mass producing, cutting cardstock, and embellishing the inside of your card.  if you are viewing this in a feed, click on the title of the post to view on my blog.

Cutting the cardstock for this card is oh, so easy!

  • Start by cutting your cardstock in half, then fold in half for your base.
  • Next, you can cut a full sheet of cardstock into four 4 x 5-1/4" layers.
  • Your Designer Series Paper is cut at 4 x 4-1/2.
  • Cut about 3/4" off the top, flip it over and you have a contrasting strip of DSP!
  • Add a ribbon, or a 1/4" strip of solid cardstock for a bit more contrast.
  • Stamp your greeting, add a button and you are done!

Stampin’ Up Supplies:

  • Christmas Greeting Stamp Set
  • Cardstock:  Whisper White, Early Espresso, Old Olive
  • Ink: Cherry Cobbler
  • Accessories:  Baker’s Twine, Neutral Buttons, Letters to Santa Designer Series Paper

Mass Producing Christmas Cards with Stampin’ Up Supplies Video Series #1

November 16th, 2011 Posted on November 16th, 2011, 12 responses.

Yesterday I asked a question on Facebook, "Have you started your Christmas Cards yet?"  The answers were very mixed…yes, no, and done!

If you are in the "No" category, be sure to stay tuned over the next week to get inspired and learn my tips and tricks for Mass Producing Christmas Cards!

This first card in the series is super simple, yet gorgeous at the same time.  Don’t you love cards like that?

Measurements:

  • Base:  8-1/2 x 4-1/4
  • Always Artichoke layer:  5-1/4 x 4
  • White top layer: 3-3/4 x 5

This simple layout can be adapted to so many different stamp sets, too.  Don’t limit yourself just because you don’t have this stamp set!

When you are mass producing cards, keep the design simple.  Cut all the cardstock first, and all the same size at the same time.  For example, cut all the bases at the same time, then move on to the first layer.

Same with stamping…stamp all the trees first.  Then, stamp all the greetings.  Then, do all the glitter.  Lastly, do all the adhesive at the same time.  It will go much faster this way instead of individually making each card one by one.

See how easy it is to make:

Stampin’ Up Supplies:

  • 115026 Lovely as a Tree Stamp Set, 116586 Many Merry Messages Stamp Set
  • Cardstock:  100730 Whisper White, 105119 Always Artichoke
  • Ink: 105219 Always Artichocke, 100908 Chocolate Chip
  • Accessories: 102023 Dazzling Diamond Glitter, 100425 2 Way Glue

Aviary Stamp Set Christmas Card

November 15th, 2011 Posted on November 15th, 2011, 2 responses.

Have you ever submitted a card to a publication?  I did for the first time this spring and this was the card.  Sadly, it wasn’t accepted, but I thought you all might like it!  It uses an untraditional stamp set for a Christmas Card.

I stamped the pine using a stamp from the Autumn Days Stamp Set 2 – 3 times between each inking.  I then stamped the bird cage and bird from the Aviary Stamp Set, cut it out, popped it up with dimensionals, and topped with a bow to make it look like it is hanging from a tree.

I think that’s about all for today!  I’m super sleepy today…if you remember I had pneumonia in May and since then I’m on my FIFTH cold.  Good grief!  I’m wondering if my eating habits are the cause.  I eat a fairly healthy diet, but about 10 years ago I found out I am sensitive to caffeine, aspertame and dairy.  I cut them out of my diet for a while, but have been back to eating those things again.  Maybe consuming those things are causing issues with my immune system?

So today is day #2 of no coffee, soda or milk.  I’m blaming my tired-ness on that!  Anyone else have food issues?

Stampin’ Up Supplies:

  • Aviary Stamp Set, Autumn Days Stamp Set
  • Cardstock: Confetti Cream, Cherry Cobbler, Soft Suede
  • Ink: Cherry Cobbler, Old Olive Marker, Early Espresso Marker
  • Accessories:  Basic Pearls, 1/8" Very Vanilla Taffeta Ribbon, Music Notes Wheel, Wheel Handle, Sponges, Dimensionals

Stay tuned…I’m brewing up a fun offer for you for Black Friday and Cyber Monday.  Oh, what could it be?  ;)

Holiday Happiness Stamp Set with a Halloween Stamp???

November 7th, 2011 Posted on November 7th, 2011, 12 responses.

Have you ever used a Halloween stamp set on a Christmas card?  Today was a first for me, I do believe!  Remember last week when I was sad because I posted my last Halloween card and was putting up all my Halloween stamps?  Well, I decided to get one back out today!

Do you recognize which one it is?

You are right!  The branch is from the Out on a Limb Stamp Set and makes a perfect ornament hanger!  The ornaments from the Holiday Happiness Stamp Set are the ideal size to hang from that branch.  With these 2 sets, we’ve got ourselves a winning combination!

I wanted a soft, slightly vintage look and I used the Candy Cane Christmas Designer Fabric to take the lead.  I designed the rest of the card around it.

A little glitter on the branch and the ornaments for sparkle and the feel of snow.  Then, a snowflake that was sitting on my desk leftover from my Christmas Card Stamp-a-stack this weekend finished it off.

Polka Dots and Stripes rule this card from the fabric, to the DSP, to the patterns on the ornaments and the embossed Crumb Cake Background Layer.  I dabbed a bit of Crumb Cake ink on the embossing folder before running it through the Big Shot to give the card some texture.

Join us on Facebook for the discussion!

Today’s card came together in a snap after being inspired by the Mojo Monday Sketch and a card I saw on Stamp Away With Me!  Love this sketch and I love the colors and the feel of this card, hope you do, too!

I also entered this card in the challenges at:  Craft Your Passion, I Did It Creations, CI Paint, Bells n Whistles, Forever Friends (old- Snowflake Punch, New- Out on a Limb), Heartsongs Inspirations, TSGClearStamps, Totally Stampalicious
