Card Patterns: Gently Falling #1 in the series

September 24th, 2011 Posted on September 24th, 2011, 5 responses.

Happy Saturday everyone!  I hope have a wonderful weekend planned…or not planned whatever the case may be!  I have some downline coming over to stamp, donuts and coffee are READY!   Hubby and Alana are going camping tonight with the Y Princess Tribe (if it stops raining!), so it’s just me, Eva and Anna.  Oh, what to do!  ;)   Maybe a crafting night is in order.

I’m excited to be a Guest Designer again for the next couple of months over at Card Patterns.  I love, love the sketch they’ve got going today!

I’ve decided to do another series of videos using the super popular Gently Falling Stamp Set and Spice Cake Designer Series Paper.  Stayed tuned to my blog for the next week to see the series.

BONUS SERIES – I also have a series of BONUS videos for anyone that places an ONLINE ORDER with me now through October 31.

Speaking of series…if you missed the My Friend Series, Click Here to view the first one.  The be sure to put your name and e-mail address in the box to received the additional 3#

When I made this card, I didn’t have the Pool Party Ink Pad (I know!  Gasp!!!), luckily, they gave us one at Founder’s Circle!   I wanted to do some tone-on-tone background stamping, so my Versamark Ink pad came in handy for this.

If you haven’t seen or used a Versamark Ink Pad, CLICK HERE  for my post and video all about it!

Stampin’ Up Timeless Portrait #1

August 24th, 2011 Posted on August 24th, 2011, 3 responses.

Hey, friends!  Are you ready for another series?  I’ve been thinking for the past week or so what I’d like to do for the next series.  I love, love, looooove the Forever Young Stamp Set and have waited long enough to play with it.  So there ya go!

For this series I’m going to use these basic supplies:

  • Forever Young Stamp Set (WM 122570, CM 122572)
  • 122352 Timeless Portrait Designer Series Paper
  • Ink: 122937 Indigo Island, 109010 River Rock, 119669 Cherry Cobbler, 101179 Basic Black
  • Cardstock:  122923 Indigo Island, 108640 River Rock, 119685 Cherry Cobbler, 121045 Basic Black
  • 120175 Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder, 117273 Antique Brads, 118481 Victoria Crochet Trim, 101610 Stampin’ Sponges

I WILL be using other supplies, but these will be the basics.  If you purchase the basic supplies above, but don’t have the extra supplies I will be using here and there, you can substitute with things you have on hand.  OR you can purchase those other supplies, too!  ;)

The layout of the card here is basic, and one you will see a lot on my cards.  By adding the circles of DSP, the Embedded Embossing Technique, along with the Crochet Trim and hanging tags, we took a simple card and made it a WOW.

View the video to learn more!  If you are viewing this post in a feed, click on the title of the post to view it online.

Notice the Cherry Cobbler Crochet Trim?  Fill a small container with a bit of water (a couple tablespoons).  I used an empty embellishment container.  Add about 30 drops of re-inker and soak your ribbon in it.  I left it for about an hour, then took it out to dry and heat set it with my Heat Tool.

Other Stampin’ Up Supplies used on this card:

  • 115657 Soft Suede Ink Pad
  • 119850 1-3/4" Circle Punch
  • 117190 Jewelry Tag Punch
  • 104199 Linen Thread
  • Tiny Tags Stamp Set

My Friend Stamp Set and Designer Frames Masking

August 18th, 2011 Posted on August 18th, 2011, 7 responses.

Today’s card was inspired by this one by Chupa and the challenge over at CASE Study.  Thanks for the inspiration, Chupa, your card is gorgeous!

I love this new Designer Frames Impressions Embossing Folder by Stampin’ Up!  It was one of the first new Big Shot Dies on my wish list when the 2011- 2012 Idea Book and Catalog came out!  If you purchase one for yourself, make sure you also have the Extra Large Oval Punch to go with it!

To make the focal point of this card:

  • emboss the Designer Frame onto white cardstock
  • punch the Extra Large Oval out of scrap paper
  • use a temporary adhesive (I used Dotto) to secure it over the Designer Frame
  • sponge color and stamp your image as shown in the video (if you are viewin this in a feed, CLICK HERE to view this post on my blog)
  • trim around the Designer Label, punch a Scallop Circle from the Perfect Pennants Big Shot Die, adhere the Designer Label to the Scallop Circle

Best of Everything Stamp Set

July 11th, 2011 Posted on July 11th, 2011, 5 responses.

Happy Monday everyone!  I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!  We just got back from the beach (thus, very few projects last week), I’ll share a few photos with you later this week.  For now, let’s get on with the stamping!

How’s this bright and cheerful card to jump start your week?  Love the greens, pinks, yellows and oranges on this project and the Mojo Monday sketch got my juices flowin’!

The doily?  That little piece of happiness came from the Flirtatious Designer Series Paper.  You get 2 whole sheets of them to cut out and embellish like crazy!  The darling bird and branch from Best of Everything stamp set were perfect for the main image here.

Wild Card Wednesday: Embedded Embossing Technique

February 2nd, 2011 Posted on February 2nd, 2011, 18 responses.

Have you see this Embedded Embossing Technique??  It’s SO cool!  One of my downline, Susan, demonstrated it for us at one of our recent events and everyone loved it.  So I thought I’d try my hand at it.  I love how it turned out and I think I will be playing with this again.

I haven’t used the Sense of Time stamp set much, but it’s one I really like.  When I was planning this card, I knew it would look really cool in the background.  I stamped it in Crumb Cake ink on Very Vanilla Cardstock.  I added some sponging with Early Espresso (lightly) on the stamped piece.

Next, I stamped the bird from the Punch Potpouri Stamp Set in Early Espresso Ink onto the First Edition Specialty Paper.  This gave it a neat effect with the words subtley showing through the stamped image.

I sponged along the top of the bird’s wing and adhered it all to the Very Vanilla circle.  I cut this circle using the Circle Scissors Plus at just under 3" to fit inside the scallop circle.  Click here to learn how to use the Circle Scissors Plus.

Once I finished adhering the bird to the main layer of my card, I ran it through the Big shot with the Square Lattice Embossing Folder.  The pressure of the Big Shot "mashes" all those layers together while creating a fabulous pattern on the cardstock.

When it’s done, it has the appearance of being one layer of cardstock.  So basically, the cardstock layers are embedded into the main piece of cardstock!

See how it was done:

Valentine Defined Stamp Set Patchwork Card

patchwork valentine card with Valentine Defined Stamp Set

Today’s challenge at Cinspirations (where I am sponsoring and guest designing!) is to make a patchwork card.  I knew right away that I wanted to do a patchwork with the Top Note Die!

I started with a 4 x 5 piece of white cardstock, cut my Love Impressions Specialty Paper into 1 3/4″ squares and adhered them to my cardstock base.  Next I ran it through the Big Shot with the Top Note Die.  Some dimensionals, ribbon, the stamped oval embellishment and glittered heart topped the card off!

Wild Card Wednesday: Paris in the Spring with the Chic Boutique Stamp Set

January 5th, 2011 Posted on January 5th, 2011, 6 responses.

chic-boutique-stamp-set-clear-emboss resist technique

As a Guest Designer over at Papercraftstar.com, my challenge today was to create a card showcasing my New Year’s Resolution.  This year, I plan to dust off some of my older Stampin’ Up supplies and use them with my new goodies!   We always want to purchase new stuff, right?  But there are plenty of gems sitting on my shelves (and yours, right!?)!  Let’s pull them out and see what we can do!

For today’s card, I used the Chic Boutique Stamp Set and En Francais Stamp Set (both older) with new colors (Daffodil Delight and Marina Mist) and the brand-new Tulip Border Embossing Folder.

I also had fun “dusting off” an old technique I haven’t used in a while as well…Clear Emboss Resist!

To get this look:

  1. stamp En Francais in Bashful Blue ink on white cardstock.
  2. ink the Eiffel Tower in Versamark Ink, stamp, pour on Clear Embossing Powder and heat.
  3. sponge Marina Mist ink over the clear embossed image.

That’s it!

Happy 2011 with Cheers to You Stamp Set!

January 1st, 2011 Posted on January 1st, 2011, one response.

cheers-to-you-stamp-set

Cheers to You on the first day of 2011!  I am sitting in my very quiet house enjoying a cappachino (yum!)…it is the first time I’ve been in the house alone since right before Thanksgiving and it is very. very. quiet!

The kids were out of school for the month of December and it’s been a noisy, busy, bustling month.  Right before Christmas I started anticipating the day they go back to school every time a fight broke out (especially the one that resulted in a trip to the ER for a fractured very badly sprained finger)!

Now that it’s quiet and I have a second to gather my thoughts, my mind is filled with how wonderful the month was.  I am so blessed to have a job that allows me the flexibility to be home with my kids when they are out of school or sick.  I am here when they get on the bus, then off the bus.  I can go into school for lunches, activities or just to pop in and say hi.

This to me is absolutely priceless and I am thankful for the opportunity Stampin’ Up has given me.  And I thank YOU for visiting my blog, being a customer of mine, or a downline.  I appreciate you all!

Part of my job as a demonstrator, is to help other people begin their own businesses.  If this intrigues you, e-mail me and we can chat about whether this is a fit for you, too!

cute-christmas-by-cam

On to today’s card!  It was inspired by my downline, Cam.  She brought the super cute snowman card to one of our big downline events this fall.  I love this layout.  Extremely verstatile, right?

I actually used the Cheers to You card as one of my Cards and Projects Club cards last month and wanted to wait until today to share it.  I think it’s perfect to ring in the new year!  Are you lovin’ how the polka dot DSP from Jolly Holiday suggests olives to coordinate with the image?  LOVE!

It would also be perfect for a birthday card.  BTW- my birthday is 2 weeks from tomorrow, and don’t think you won’t be seeing a ton of birthday cards here this month.  I’m in celebration mode.  It will be the big 4-0 for me!  I had some anxiety about getting "older" almost 2 years ago.  Now?  I’m embracing it!  I’m excited!  I think it’s going to be great to be 40!

Come on all you 40 yr olds, leave me a note here and let me know it’s awesome!  ;)

Have a wonderful New Year’s Day!  Anyone taking holiday decorations down today?

cheers-to-you

Stampin’ Up’s Valentine Defined Stamp Set

December 29th, 2010 Posted on December 29th, 2010, no responses.

valentines-defined-stamp-set Big Shot Lots of Love Letterpress Plate

How about a Valentine’s card with a Spring Mini Catalog Sneak Peek for today?  A black, white and red Valentine card instantly conveys sophistication.

This card features the Lots of Love Letterpress Plate (see my other sample and a video on how to use these here).

I wanted the Watercolor Paper debossed with the letterpress plate to be the star here, so I simply stamped an image from the new Valentine Defined Stamp Set (premiers on January 4), punched it out with my 1 1/4" Circle Punch and ran a thin line of Multipurpose Liquid Glue along the edge of my circle and added some Dazzling Diamonds Glitter to glam it up a bit.  A Black Taffeta ribbon polished off the card.

Also, if you notice in the bottom right hand corner, I have some black rhinestones.  These came from the Black Flourish Designer Jewels on page 8 of the Holiday Mini Catalog!

Stampin’ Up Letterpress Plates and another Sneak Peek!

December 14th, 2010 Posted on December 14th, 2010, one response.

letterpress-plate Stampin' Up

This is the very first card I’ve stamped since my surgery 2 weeks ago (except for the cupcake card I did with Eva) and I was so excited to work with fresh pinks, crisp white and Valentine goodies!

I know, most of us are still working on Christmas projects, but since I got my Spring Mini Catalog goodies the other day, I just had to play with the new Valentine Defined stamp set

Pink Flamingos, people!  Woot!  I can’t show you the whole set yet, but be sure to visit here on January 4 to see the mini catalog up close and personal!  If you are one of my current customers, you will be getting your very own catalog in the mail at the end of December.  If you aren’t a customer of mine YET, and don’t have a demonstrator, let me know that you’d like one!

letterpress-stampin-up

Ok…so how was it done?  There are a few things going on here for this card:

Tinsel Trim – I love the Tinsel Trim in the Holiday Mini Catalog and it’s for oh, so much more than just Christmas Cards!  Hurry! You can only order this item through January 3.  Click here to view it in my Online Store.

Love Impressions Specialty Paper – Premiers in the Spring Mini Catalog on January 4!  (used it with my scallop circle punch)

Lots of Love Letterpress Plate- Stampin’ Up’s new Letterpress Plates let you create an inked debossed impression reminiscent of an old-world letterpress.  This was a new item in Stampin’ Up’s Holiday Mini CatalogView here.

I was going to do a video for you on it, but Shannon West from the Stampin’ Up’s Home Office did a fabulous video on it, so I let her do the work!  (Instead of craft ink, I used a Versamark Ink Pad to ink the plate.  Click here to learn about the Versamark ink pad.)

Uninked Craft Pads are available HERE.
