Wild Card Wednesday: Embedded Embossing Technique
February 2nd, 2011
Have you see this Embedded Embossing Technique?? It’s SO cool! One of my downline, Susan, demonstrated it for us at one of our recent events and everyone loved it. So I thought I’d try my hand at it. I love how it turned out and I think I will be playing with this again.
I haven’t used the Sense of Time stamp set much, but it’s one I really like. When I was planning this card, I knew it would look really cool in the background. I stamped it in Crumb Cake ink on Very Vanilla Cardstock. I added some sponging with Early Espresso (lightly) on the stamped piece.
Next, I stamped the bird from the Punch Potpouri Stamp Set in Early Espresso Ink onto the First Edition Specialty Paper. This gave it a neat effect with the words subtley showing through the stamped image.
I sponged along the top of the bird’s wing and adhered it all to the Very Vanilla circle. I cut this circle using the Circle Scissors Plus at just under 3" to fit inside the scallop circle. Click here to learn how to use the Circle Scissors Plus.

Once I finished adhering the bird to the main layer of my card, I ran it through the Big shot with the Square Lattice Embossing Folder. The pressure of the Big Shot "mashes" all those layers together while creating a fabulous pattern on the cardstock.
When it’s done, it has the appearance of being one layer of cardstock. So basically, the cardstock layers are embedded into the main piece of cardstock!
See how it was done:
