Stampers’ Q&A

Your burning stamping questions…answered!

How Do I Get Shading and Dark, Intense Color When Watercoloring?

When I watercolor using Stampin’ Up Ink Pads and Blender Pens, I like to have my matching re-inkers on hand.  When you squeeze the lid of the closed ink pad to get your color palette, sometimes the color isn’t quite as dark as you would like.

That’s when I add a drop of the re-inker to my lid to get a puddle of intense color.  Dip your Blender Pen into the puddle and color away!

Caution:  It is a bit harder to clean out the tip of your Blender Pen when you dip it straight into the puddle of re-inker.  Just keep scribbling your tip on scratch paper until it is coloring clear.  Don’t push down too hard, though, because you will wreck your Blender Pen tip.

I loooove how this card turned out!  I hope you like it, too!

I sponged the edges of all the cardstock layers with Soft Suede Ink, stamped the background with the Woodgrain Stamp, and sprayed a bit of Log Cabin Smooch Spritz on it.

For the Build-a-brad, I stamped a piece of Kraft Cardstock with the Rosemary stamp from Herb Expressions stamp set, punched it out with the 1/2″ Circle Punch, adhered it to the brad, and placed the sticky “glass” piece on top.  Build-a-brad video tutorial here.

Very pretty card Catherine. I love the painting and the brad. Thanks for the tip on painting and shading. It’s an area on need work on.

MY burning question is: Do you get manicures or touch ups before all your video shoots? Your nails always look so impeccable!

(off-topic, I know. I’m getting famous for that)

    Thanks for the comments, y’all!
This is one of my all time favorite cards, I think!

    Chellie- I’m totally cracking up!
Honestly, I only do videos when my nails look good. Is that vain? I just don’t want anyone distracted while looking at my nasty nails. LOL!
I just had them done an hour ago, so I’ll be filming tomorrow!
