Brayered Background Technique with Wandering Words Stamp Set
December 28th, 2009Hello Stamper Friends! I wanted to showcase a few of Stampin’ Up’s Holiday Mini Catalog stamp sets before they’re not available anymore…get them through January 4!
If you look closely, or maybe not so closely, you will see that I should have taken my own advice! I stamped the main image with Black Craft Ink, which takes a while to dry. You can heat set it, pour clear or black embossing powder on it and heat it, or you can be patient. I chose none of the above, thus a smeared card! yikes!
I had fun working with Stampin’ Up’s glossy cardstock, my brayer and 2 different pink ink colors. You’ll see on the video, the first AND the second try didn’t work out too well. The third time was a charm!
I also finished it up with a ribbon and the new Jewelry Tag Punch and stamps from Tiny Tags Stamp Set, available in the Occasions Mini Catalog, premiering January 5. Hint: stamp the tag outline, then use your 1/16″ hole punch to make a hole, THEN punch it out with the tag punch. It would be tough to put a tiny hole through the tag once it’s already punched out!

Thanks for this great demo…I have a brayer and never really knew what to do with it. I am definitely going to try a card like you made.

Catherine-
I love the video. It really gives you such a look at how the different tools work, such as the brayer. I also like that you have comments on the top as you’re working and I was glad to see the prices of the products as you were using them! Thanks for more awesome ideas.

Thanks VERY much for the feedback! I’m new to the videos, and I’m tweaking as I go. So let me know what works and what doesn’t from the viewers point of view.
Happy Stamping,
Catherine

Hi Catherine,
I love your video, I like that you put in there that your project didn’t turn out the way you like it the first time. It shows that you need to keep at it.
Thanks again.

Thanks, Rhonda! It also shows that sometimes it doesn’t come out perfect the first time and I mess up, too!
Thank you so much for responding and visiting my website.
Happy Stamping,
Catherine

I like the videos. It’s such a good way to learn how to use the different tools. I also like the tidbits you gave regarding how to re-ink the ink pad and how long they can be used before re-inking. I’m always learning something new from the videos. Thanks for taking the time to post them!

Making BOO BOOS is what keeps stamping challenging. You learn to be creative to cover up the mistakes or you redo it to get the correct result. People think that stamping a card is so easy but sometimes 1 card can take a couple hours by the time you decide what to do and do it correctly so it passes inspection. It is a learning process. Always something to learn. Can’t know it all. Happy New Year

This is a great video! I always wondered what to do with a brayer and just the other day was trying to figure out how to re-ink one of my old stamp pads. Even my kids were watching it with me and are ready to go stamp!
