Chipboard Heart Ornament - Embossed!
Posted on February 8th, 2010, one response.Happy Monday! I have another project for you today for the Valentine’s Tree that I’ve been working on and it involves Embossing and chipboard! You can also use this adorable heart to embellish a card, scrapbook page, notebook cover, etc.
Several embossing and chipboard tips:
- If you use Craft ink to color your chipboard, you can either let it sit for an hour or so to let it dry, or you can pour on clear embossing powder and heat it with your Stampin’ Up Heat Tool. The embossing powder will melt and when it cools down it will be a wonderful hard, shiny surface.
- When is it completely embossed? When the surface is completely shiny and you don’t see any powder any more.
- If you get Stampin’ Spots, you will have 12 one inch ink pads for only $25.95 (for craft). What a value!
I hope you enjoy the video! Be sure to leave a comment to let me know what you think and if there are other embossing projects you’d like to see! I’ve got a few planned, but I’d love to know what you would like to see as well! (I actually filmed this video a few weeks ago, BPN…before pretty nails. Haha!)

Stampin’ Up Decor Elements…chalkboards!
Posted on February 7th, 2010, no responses.Happy Sunday everyone! I hope you have had a great weekend! I had a great mix of fun and work (which is still fun, btw). I tried to go to the movies Friday night with some friends, got the movie time wrong and ended up at Brixx pizza for the night. It was great to just hang out with the girls and shoot the breeze for a few hours. Then Saturday, my big girls had a make up day for school, so my husband and I took Eva out to Starbucks. She said it was boring, LOL! Then, I had my workshop with a bunch of moms and their teenage girls. We had a great time!
I have to tell you…I guess they haven’t seen the new Decor Elements brochure. If you haven’t seen them, either, they are basically vinyl wall rub-ons. You can see a sampling here.
What they got most excited about were the CHALKBOARD Decor Elements, specifically the Thought bubble. Can you see a photo of your child with the chalkboard thought bubble above it and they can change out what it says every day! How fun is that!?
Don’t let your teen get left out ;). Click on the 2 Stampin’ Up Decor Elements brochures in the sidebar (right under the Sale-A-bration catalog) to see the entire collection.
Happy Stamping Everyone!
All you need is a bit of paper and a pair of scissors…

…to make a heartfelt gift for someone special.
Hello Friends!
I can’t believe the snow is falling again! My big girls are in school today to make up one of the snow days we had this week and we’ve got more falling right now. I have a workshop scheduled for 2:00 and my fingers are crossed that it holds. My bag is packed and my projects are CUTE! If we have to reschedule, guess I’ll be spending the afternoon in my stamp room!
Alana (my helping hand from yesterday’s video) spent the evening in my stamp room last night and look what she created! I was blown away when she came down and showed this to me. She drew a ballerina (sans head), cut it out and wanted me to help her put a heart eyelet on it for her (Stampin’ Up carried these a few years ago and I’ve been holding on to them). I helped her set the eyelet and got a card base and a layer for her.
A few minutes later she had the card put together complete with Dimensionals and a hand drawn hanger for the tutu! She made this for her ballet teacher and inside it says, “I like ballet, I like danceing, but most ov ole I like you!”. And if you look closely, you can see a wrapper poking out from inside the card. She glued a Riesen inside!
Thanks for letting me share my Alana’s card with you today!

Stampin’ Up’s Well Scripted- Embossed! Cards and Projects Club
Posted on February 4th, 2010, 2 responses.Hello Friends! ahhh…the kids went back to school today. What an interesting, unexpected vacation and I know you northerners are totally cracking up that 5″ of snow on Saturday had the kids out of school through Wednesday! Certainly not how I grew up in Upstate NY! anyway….
My friend Amy brought me some scrapbooking magazines last week and while perusing, I got inspired to make this card! You can see the original scrapbook page from Scrapbooks, Etc., in the video. I love the “peek-a-boo” look and I’m cooking up some more projects using this idea. Aint it cool? ;)
Stampin’ Tips:
I embossed the greeting by stamping Happy Birthday from the Well Scripted stamp set in White Craft Ink, poured on my White Embossing Powder, then I heated it with my Stampin’ Up Heat Tool.
Before stamping, be sure to wipe down your cardstock with the Embossing Buddy, it will remove the static from your cardstock so the Embossing Powder only sticks to the stamped image. One thing to think about though, the white powder in the Embossing Buddy can make a bit of a smudge on your Black cardstock, so for club, I am going to change this card base to Close to Cocoa to make it a bit more user-friendly. (and yes, that smudge on the bottom is totally bugging me now that I keep looking at it! yikes!)
If you are a Cards and Projects Club member, we will be making this on Sunday or Monday. Be sure to register here for your session and if you haven’t joined us before, I invite you to come have some fun!

My Digital Studio Downloads, Cards and Projects Club Projects
Posted on February 3rd, 2010, no responses.Hey, friends! Woohooo! Today I got out of the house and went to the gym, I was so excited to get out. We’ve been “snowed in” here since Friday night with no school for the kiddos. Raleigh doesn’t have the snow removal equipment needed for a big storm, so we pretty much just sit back and wait for the snow to melt. Today it’s 50 degrees outside, so I do believe they will have school tomorrow!
Thanks to you all that have left comments on my latest videos. A few “housekeeping notes”:
- Chellie wanted to know how I got the first scallop to line up perfectly at the beginning of my DSP on my Stampin’ Up Fancy Flower Card…Chellie, I hate to admit it, but it was pure luck! If you look at the other end of the DSP, you’ll see the scallop gets cut off.
- On yesterday’s Valentine Treat, Debbie asked if it could be used as a gift card holder. Absolutely! Just be sure to cut your cardstock about 1 1/2″ wider than the gift card.
- As for the Valentine Treat, it will be one of my next Cards and Projects club project, but I tried and tried to do a chocolate scratch and sniff, and I couldn’t get it to work out quite right. I used cocoa powder and clear embossing powder. It embossed fine, but later it didn’t smell like chocoate. Waahhhh! We will make the treat, but embellish with some hearts instead. Be on the lookout for the Scratch and Sniff Technique next month for my Cards and Projects club! Local or Long Distance.
New Stampin’ Up My Digital Studio Downloads! Corduroy Buttons and Epoxy Brads! Visit my online store and you can purchase, then download these gems to dress up all your digital papercrafting projects!
Be sure to visit my online store also to see the talking girl! I didn’t know she was there? When did she appear? How cool is that?
Check back tomorrow, I will have a video for you of a great, simple card using just a few products….I’m quite excited about this design. If you are in my Cards and Projects local club, don’t forget to register and bring a friend!
OR register for my Online Cards and Projects Club and I will send you all the materials to make it plus 2 other projects!

Razzle Dazzle Stamp Set and Razzleberry Lemonade Desiger Series Paper
Posted on February 1st, 2010, no responses.Hey, friends! Thanks for checking in today! I was hoping to have a video ready for today, but the kids are home from school because of icy roads and looking back at the weekend I have to laugh. We did almost nothing! How long has it been since we’ve done that? I could have gotten so much done, but we chose to just hang out. all . weekend. long.
So today I dug down and have some cards I’ve done over the past few months using the Razzle Dazzle Stamp set. It was a new set in July and it waw HOT when it first came out….then, we got new goodies and Razzle Dazzle went to the bottom of the stack of stamps.
You will see it is a great choice for card making and scrapbooking! In true Stampin’ Up style you will see the images from the stamp set all through the Designer Series Paper.
This sample is a quick, simple card to put together…try a strip of Designer Series Paper (or a couple if you’d like!) offset with a stamped image, circle punched and backed with a scallop circle punch:
My recommendations for basic coordinated Razzle Dazzle Projects:
- 116714 Razzle Dazzle Stamp Set $18.95
- 115675 Razzleberry Lemonade Designer Series Paper $9.95
- 100730 Whisper White Cardstock $7.50 (40 sheets)
- 115656 Melon Mambo Ink Pad $5.95
- 115320 Melon Mambo Cardstock $5.50 (24 Sheets)
- 115658 Rich Razzleberry Ink Pad $5.95
- 115659 Crushed Curry Ink Pad $5.95
Optional Add-ons:
Don’t forget, every $50 purchase, you get a free Sale-a-Bration item! My recommendations to go with these goodies would be:
- 118402 Scallop Trim Border Punch
- 118386 Whimsical Words Stamp Set Wood Mount OR
- 119119 Whimsical Words Clear Mount
Try a strip of Designer Series Paper to anchor your design, add circle punches in coordinating colors and a stamped image popped up with dimensionals:

Snow and Scrapbooking
Posted on January 31st, 2010, 2 responses.

Hey, friends! It’s a SNOW DAY IN RALEIGH!!! The snow started falling Friday night and we woke up to a nice amount of snow on the ground! It continued snowing/sleeting through lunch yesterday which created a nice couple inches of ice on the roads covered with snow. Not good for snowmen, but luckily some of our neighbors have sleds and the neighborhood kids have spent the better part of 2 days now sledding and having a ball! Since it rarely snows here, my husband keeps telling the kids, “this is a day you will always remember!”. I need to scrapbook it!
Speaking of scrapbooking, here is the pull-out scrapbook my downline made at our recent SUpreme Soiree. How cute is this book? I won’t give you all the details, but if you are in my downline, you will get more opportunities to make great projects like this at our events. If you don’t live in Raleigh, but still want to participate, I have a Long Distance option for you to participate.
If you are considering being a demonstator in my group, I would love to have you! You can sign up any time, but just a reminder that today is the last day of the Workshop of a Lifetime challenge from Stampin’ Up. WE could get a visit from Shelli, Cofounder and CEO of Stampin’ Up. So if you’re ready, let’s go!
Information on being a demonstrator here. You can order your starter kit here, click Join Now in the left hand sidebar, my password is pooler. Call me if you have any questions, (919)841-0373.
Also today is the last day to place an order and be entered to win this month’s Stamp of the Month, Wings of Friendship. Details here.

Scrapbook Page with Stampin’ Up’s Love Sparkles Simply Scrappin’ Kit and Helpful Hints
Posted on January 30th, 2010, no responses.Hey, Friends! I was looking through some of my scrapbook pages from last year and wanted to share this with you. It’s perfect for this time of year with all the love in the air ;) This was one of my layouts from one of my Scrappers’ Express Kits from last year.
TIPS: When you are scrapbooking, you want your photos to be the mail focus of the page, with a journaling block to tell about the photos on the page. Go ahead! Write in YOUR OWN HANDWRITING! It will be treasured by family later, I promise! I love seeing things in my mothers’ handwriting.
What to journal? Think about what you would tell someone if you were describing the photos…that’s what you write!
Scrapbooking can be really simple…many of my pages begin with a solid 12 x 12 base (make it a COLORED base, it will change the look of your album from so-so to something special), a couple strips of Designer Series Paper and an embellishment of some sort on the page in a corner, on the side, or right in the middle!
I love the embellishment for this page using Sticky Die Cuts from the Love Sparkles Simply Scrappin’ Kit, Chocolate Grosgrain Ribbon, a bracket made from the Top Note Die (see how to make that here) and Linen Thread.
Supplies:
- 113918 Love Sparkles Simply Scrappin’ Kit $19.95
- 109051 Chocolate Grosgrain Ribbon $7.95 (15 yards)
- 113463 Top Note Die $21.95
- 104199 Linen Thread $4.50 (15 yards)
- 105211 Regal Rose Ink Pad $5.95
- 114952 Defining Alphabet Stamp Set $43.95
- 114950 Define Your Life Stamp Set $47.95
The biggest hurdles holding people back from scrapbooking are having the right supplies and having the ideas. I take care of both of those problems every month with a different kit. Want to be a part of my Scrappers’ Express Montly Kits? Get all the details here!
February’s Kit will be revealed soon, and you don’t want to miss out, it is GORGEOUS!
And have you scrapped Christmas photos yet? If you were a Scrappers’ Express member, you would have! oooh! I have a few kits left for Christmas Jingle. Get yours here.
Happy Stamping Everyone!
