Tart and Tangy Stamp Set with Scratch and Sniff Heat Embossing

Hello Stamper Friends!  Read all the way to the end to find out who won the blog candy.  Keep your comments coming, I love them and it makes all the work of posting worth it when I read them!

Today I want to share with you some fun samples made with the Tart and Tangy Stamp Set!  It is on page 126 of Stampin’ Up’s main catalog and is $14.95…but if you place a $50 order before March 31, you can choose it as your free Sale-a-bration Stamp Set!  (catalogs are in the sidebar for you to peruse…contact me if you need me to put a copy in your hot little hands!;).

I have used this set for lots of fun things and it’s one that will sit on my “I’ll bring it to the grave” shelf once it retires.  I used it this month for Cards and Projects (did you know you get a free class with me each month when you commit to spending $15 per month with me?), and if you are a member of the Online Cards and Projects club, you will recieve all the supplies to make this card in the mail!  If you haven’t signed up yet, you have until Weds. night to register and place your first order.

This was a popular color combination..fun with the blue, olive and red, dontcha think?   We mixed 1 tsp. of Cherry Jello (you could also use Kool Aid) with Clear Embossing Powder, poured it on after inking the cherries with craft ink and heated it.  Once it cools, you’ll actually need to scratch it to get that cherry smell going again.

Supplies:

  • 111514 Tart & Tangy $12.95 (if you spend $50, use the code 120237 to get it for free!)
  • 102277 Old Olive Stampin’ Write Marker $3.25
  • 105439 Bold Bright Craft Stampin’ Spots $25.95**
  • Cardstock:  102482 Real Red, 100702 Old Olive, 105120 Bashful Blue
  • 109043 Scallop Circle $15.95
  • 104401 1 3/8″ Circle $15.95
  • 104403 1 1/4″ Circle $15.95
  • 107590 Designer Label Punch $15.95
  • 116631 Paper Piercing Tool $3.50
  • 105826 Mat Pack $9.95
  • 112533 5/8″ Neutral Brads $6.95
  • 104430 Dimensionals $3.95
  • 110714 Real Red Striped Grosgrain Ribbon $7.95
  • 117334 Polka Dot Impressions Folder $7.95

Embossing Supplies:

  • 102283 VersaMark Ink Pad $7.50
  • 102197 Powder Pals $19.95 (1 large, 1 small tray)
  • 100005 Heat Tool $29.95
  • 109130 Clear Embossing Powder $4.75
  •

**Stampin’ Spots are a GREAT way to try out a bunch of colors for less than the price of 4 full sized ink pads.  They are also useful for inking small parts of a stamp and can be used for watercoloring as well!

Craft Stampin’ Spots (pigment based ink, takes a while to dry, you can emboss with it, stamp on fabric, walls, wood, etc):  105439 Bold Brights, 105438 Earth Elements, 105437 Rich Regals, 105370 Soft Subtles

Classic Stampin’ Spots (dye ink, dries immediately, not fade-resistant, used for most papercrafting):  105550 Bold Brights, 105551 Earth Elements,105552 Rich Regals, 105553 Soft Subtles

Stampin’ Up Butterfly Embosslet Die and St. Patrick’s Day Card

    Posted on March 6th, 2010, 4 responses.

Hello Stampers!  Today’s card uses the Butterfly Embosslet Die and before I jump into the project, I wanted to give you some important Big Shot Die Information!

When you are running your die through the Big Shot, DO NOT run the die through your big shot hinge first, it puts too much pressure on the hinge and it will deteriorate and break…as did mine (Stampin’ Up is sending me a new one).  Be sure to turn it  ninety degrees so that the hinge is not parallel to the opening you pass the die through.  See photos.

Now for the card.  How darling is THIS and who WOULDN’T you send this to?  I’m LUCKY to have you as a friend, mother, father, husband, child, teacher, spin instructor, dance teacher, underwater basket weaving teacher, and the list goes on….this was a workshop project for my hostesses and guests last weekend.  The Lucky is from one of those stamp sets that I will NEVER get rid of:

    • 114950 Define Your Life $47.95 (this and a SNAIL refill and you get a free Sale-a-bration set!)
    • and the coordinating alphabet, 114952 Defining Alphabet $43.95

(these 2 sets, a few accessories, and you would get 3 SAB sets AND hostess benefits if your order was $150!!)

    Supplies:

Cardstock:  101697 Glorious Green, 101768 Green Galore, 102795 Gable Green.

Ink:  103040 Glorious Green, 102122 Green Galore

113439 Big Shot Machine, 118138 Stampin’ Up Beautiful Wings Embosslet Die, 117335 Stampin’ Up Textured Impressions Folder $7.95.

    butterfly-wings-embosslet-with-define-your-life2

I thought the butterflies were appropriate because:  From wiki.answers.com “There are many symbolic meanings associated with the butterfly.  The Mandarin Chinese word for butterfly is “hu-tieh”. “Tieh” means “70 years”, therefore butterflies have become a symbol for a long life. In this culture butterflies have also become representative of young men in love.  In the Japanese culture butterflies are thought to be representative of young maidens and marital bliss. Many Japanese families use the butterfly in the family crest design. “

Especially if you send this to your husband, fiancee, boyfriend….lucky and the symbol for marital bliss say it all!  Check out all the fun definitions in the Define Your Life Stamp Set:

Don’t forget to visit the Gallery and upload your creations there as well!  When the Gallery reaches 2500 samples, I will be drawing a winner to receive a FREE stamp set!  See the details.

Game Night Stamp Set, Stampin’ Up! Beautiful Butterflies Bigz Die and the Charming Stamp Set

    Posted on March 5th, 2010, 4 responses.

Hey, Stamper Friends!  First, I want to say, I am LOVING reading all your great comments!  Keep leaving them, drawing on Tuesday.

Some of you are wondering how Anna broke her wrist….she was rollerskating.   It didn’t swell, get red, and she wasn’t screaming.  So beware.  If your kid compains for “long enough”, go get it checked out.  A bone that doesn’t heal right can be a problem!

Susan was wondering if I am going to cave in and do Anna’s laundry.  I don’t know if I mentioned it, but recently Anna “yelled” at me that I never do laundry and she had nothing to wear, I know, you can laugh!  I did!  She really carried on about it.  Well, I decided to make that come true and now she has to do her own laundry.  She’s 10 1/2, so she’s fully capable of doing it herself.  She is doing great with her cast and even made smoothies for her sisters yesterday….sooo, she CAN do her laundry, but I MIGHT help her fold it.

Sounds like you ladies want to see some 3D projects!  I am planning over the next couple of weeks to do some Stampers’ 101 videos…I will weave in some 3D projects, too!  And if you are enjoying my blog, the highest compliment you can pay to me is to refer me on to your friends.  I appreciate that some of you have found me that way!  Thank you!

The next thing…I woke up to a big surprise today!  Stampin’ Up Demonstrators got their first peek at the Summer Mini Catalog!  yippeeee!  There are some super awesome new accessories coming out and a great, diverse offering of stamps!

Did you know that demonstrators also get to preorder these stamp sets and accessories beginning April 1?  If you would like to have that perk, think about becoming a demonstrator yourself!  Join with me and you get a supportive upline, and a great group of gals to get support from…my downline is awesome!

And my upline, Karin, is awesome, too…check out these cards she sent me over the past few months for being in the Top 10 Sales for her group.    If that worries you, keep in mind most demonstrators are demonstrators because they enjoy all the awesome perks!

For $169 (only through March 31, or $159 for the Digital + Starter Kit) you get a bunch of awesome stuff and your first minimum of $300 won’t be due until June 30.  The skinny here.   E-mail me with questions or call me at (919)841-0373.

Broken Wrist Update and BLOG CANDY!!!

    Posted on March 4th, 2010, 15 responses.

Hello Stamper Friends!  I hope you are well today.  I am playing “try to catch up”, but this cold is reallllly dragging me down.  I was hoping to do a couple videos this week, but nope…and at this point, my voice doesn’t sound so pretty, so I think we’ll wait til next week.

    001

Here is another reason I’m behind this week, poor Anna…she’s not liking this cast AT ALL.  She told me the other night, “ok, mom, it doesn’t hurt any more.  Let’s take it off.”  Oh, dear, we’ve got until April 1!

Last night she took a shower with it.  This puppy is waterproof!  She did NOT like the feel of a wet cast AT ALL.  I told her she needs to wear it so her wrist heals correctly.  If it doesn’t, her wrist will hurt for the next 75+ years.  She’s funny, because now when she complains, she says, “I know.  I don’t want it to hurt for the next 75 years!”.

So, let’s do a little blog candy in honor of Anna!  Leave a post anywhere on my blog and I will draw one winner for the Vintage Labels Stamp Set (already have this, lmk which SAB set you would like instead).  Drawing will be on Tuesday.  I love, love reading y’alls comments!

Let me know what you would like to see…more simple stamping, techniques, 3D projects?  Or comment on anything else you would like!

    with-all-my-heart-scrapbook-page1

Hey, Stamper Friends!  What was supposed to be a day home working with all the kids in school through the afternoon, turned into a morning of doctor appointments!  The kids went roller skating yesterday, and Anna (my 10 year old) fell and hurt her wrist.  I told her if it still hurt this morning, I would take her to the doctor.  Lo and behold, the kid broke her wrist!  It’s called a Buckle Break and she’s got a gorgeous hot pink cast on!  She will get it off just a couple weeks before we go on the Stampin’ Up cruise to the Southern Caribbean.  Phew.

And on top of that, I’ve got a cold, and I’m hoping it’s not the flu.  Wowsas, when it rains, it pours!
